    D-27's incident report: "On December 29, 2023, at approximately 09:01 PM, I observed a black Chrysler 300 traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 at the 280-mile marker. The West Memphis Police Department had advised of a possible carjacking at the Walgreens on Missouri Street. The caller at Walgreens advised that three black males exited the Chrysler with masks on and attempted a carjacking. The caller was able to give the vehicle description and the tag number on the vehicle. The caller advised the tag was Mississippi GAB1716 and showed to be stolen out of Memphis, Tennessee. I caught up to the Chrysler and was able to confirm it was the reported stolen car. The Chrysler traveled eastbound on Interstate 40 and was accelerating. I activated my emergency lights and siren and attempted a traffic stop on the Chrysler. The Chrysler sped up and began to flee. The Chrysler was traveling at speeds of more than 130 MPH and was using all lanes of traffic. The Chrysler drove with no due regard and with no concern for the public’s safety. For the safety of all involved, I attempted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention on the Chrysler. The Chrysler slowed, causing me to travel in front of them. I slowed my speed and as the Chrysler passed me, I performed a successful Tactical Vehicle Intervention at the 284-mile marker. The Chrysler traveled across all three lanes of Interstate 40, struck a guardrail, and overturned before coming to rest. After performing the Tactical Vehicle Intervention, I struck the center concrete barrier, causing damage to the entire left side of my patrol vehicle. Officer McPherson (West Memphis PD) who was behind me at the time of the Tactical Vehicle Intervention, stated that three males ran from the vehicle, running southbound. With the help of the West Memphis Police Department, their K9, and their drone, all suspects were taken into custody without incident. The three suspects were identified as E’Javion Mayes (B/M 07/22/2004), David Cunningham (B/M 12/16/2004), and Martavious Anderson (B/M 07/29/2004). Mayes was not injured and was transported to the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office. Anderson and Cunningham were both transported to Regional One in Memphis, TN, and were both listed in critical condition. Located east of the suspect vehicle in the ditch were two firearms. A Glock 45 9 mm handgun (SN: BVMY483) with a 30-round extended mag with 18 live rounds and a Zastava M92PV (SN: M92PV017818) with 28 live rounds. During a search of the vehicle, I located a Glock 19X 9 mm handgun (SN: AGNL988) with an extended mag, which was confirmed stolen by the Memphis Police Department, in the driver’s floorboard with 23 live rounds. The Glock 19X and 45 were both modified with Glock Switch’s. I also located a Glock 22 40 caliber (SN: NPV140) in the back seat with an extended mag and 23 live rounds. Martavious Andeson had a full extradition felony warrant out of Memphis, Tennessee for: Criminal Attempt 1st Degree Murder Employing a firearm during the Commission of Felony Aggravated Assault X3 Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon Discharging a Firearm from a Motor Vehicle Vandalism All three suspects were charged with: Theft of Property greater than 25,000 dollars Theft of Property (Firearm) Fleeing on Foot Criminal Impersonation Criminal use of a Prohibited Weapon Criminal Conspiracy Obstruction of Governmental Operations Anderson was additionally charged with: Fleeing in a Vehicle Reckless Driving No Driver’s License"

    My wife and I travel to the East Coast from Texas quite often and we haven't stayed overnight in Memphis in over 20 years. You are risking your life if you do! The last time we did the hotel staffer warned us not to park on the back side and be aware of your surroundings at all times. The back doors had steel bars locked into place and there were bullet holes in one of the doors. Not sure what you would do in the event of a fire. The hotel was with a reputable chain but it was a dump! We will not stay overnight until we are substantially East of Jackson, TN. As usual, ASP was taking names and kicking asses the evening of 12/29/23!!!

After I moved back to my home state of LA, I still watched Memphis news since my then husband continued to live there during the weeks and come home on weekends. My Lord, the crime was out of control! And I can’t imagine how it is now. 3 to 5 shootings a day. Horrible. Unimaginable. SMH

    @@brentdale5730 Except in Memphis. Memphis police will not pick up a pursuit that's coming from AR. Also, ASP crosses the state line all the time (Oklahoma, Texas, etc.) -- it's just a Memphis thing that keeps them from being able to due to the local DA/police.

  • @NpaMattAlan

    @NpaMattAlan

    5 ай бұрын

    @@sandramcnew5827 I'm by no means an expert but from what I understand yes kinda. Some cities/states will have agreements that give pursuing officers authority to detain and then they are processed etc. Memphis however will not do that, nor will Memphis pick up a pursuit once it crosses the state line. Thus meaning even if they could get them detained, ASP could literally do nothing to arrest them. While it's probably not a "policy" this way, it generally seems like ASP will only chase into Memphis when it is a serious enough crime that Memphis can't ignore (or sweep under the rug -- FYI I'm from TN, -- Memphis does that all the time) such as homicide, etc.
