The kind gentleman that created the Fender Stratocaster was Leo Fender. The most ironic fact i found out in recent years reading about him was, he actually didn’t play guitar. So your comment is spot on! Jehovah God gave this craftsman the ability to design a product that revolutionized music as we know it today. Rest in Power, Leo. Mission accomplished.✨💎💎💎✨

That was awesome!!!!!!! I grew up in the 80’s playing guitar and never gave Prince a second look. I immediately looked at him as a overhyped pop star who could play numerous instruments adequately but probably master of none of them. Then I watched him get inducted into the rock and roll HOF. He plaid a set with a bunch of old legends and they played “while my guitar gently weeps” by the Beatles cause it was the year George Harrison died. He did a solo at the end and blew everyone off the stage. I was so impressed that I started looking at some of his live performances. I found a video of him playing purple rain at Syracuse, NY in 85’ and my jaw hit the floor. I’m a huge Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan fan and I’ll now put Prince on that level. Especially as far as feel and soul. I would’ve never believed years ago that I’d say this but he’s that good.

I also grew up in the 80s, and I was a hard rock/metal guy. Loved Randy Rhoads, Eddie VH, etc and didnt care for pop music at all. However, I remember that, everytime ´When doves cry´ played on the radio, I stopped whatever I was doing to listen to it. That intro is fantastic and the solo too (even Jeff Beck praised it). But for some reason, I didnt care to know about Prince until I became a fan in 93. After all these years of listening to the albums, downloading hundreds of outtakes, concerts, etc, I found what an amazing musician he was. Not only a great guitar player, but a great producer, arranger, songwriter who played bass, keys and drums real well. For those who want to know more of his talent, search for ´Crystal Ball´ and ´Glass Cutter´. He did everything. On ´Crystal Ball´ Clare Fischer provided orchestra, but all other instruments were him. And he had that entire song in his mind, so he recorded all drums, then moved to the bass, etc. And he used to record a song in one day (!). Another great moment was ´I´m yours´ from his first album. He was 19, producing, arranging and playing all instruments. I m glad that his performance of ´While my guitar gently weeps´ made so many people realize he wasnt only a ´pop singer´.

I saw Prince at the Verizon Center in 2004 and he closed his set with Purple Rain. If turn this up and close my eyes I'm taken back there like it was yesterday. I will never ever forget that concert.

This right here is what music is, and talent, if this doesn't move you, then I feel for you, you are missing out. No overloaded effects like delay or reverb to hide imperfections, everything was translated very nicely onto that fretboard, and even after playing off and on for 10 years it would take me a lot of time to try this, not to mention it wouldn't have the same sound, sound comes from the fingers, best rendition of this song I've yet to come accross. thank you.

I can tell you we’re trying to be serious while playing, but as you kept going you couldn’t help but move yourself with the music. It’s hard not make faces and move your body when your playing such a masterpiece. Well done, brought tears to my eyes.

This performance is a perfect example of the difference between technical brilliance of a good musician and the type of natural genius that a musical god like Prince possessed. As great as this cover is, and indeed it's probably one of the best I've ever heard, it just shows once again the staggering breathtaking talent you have to be born with just to be in the realm of someone like Prince. His gift is so astounding that he can never be emulated or mimicked and will certainly never happen again in anyone's lifetime.

I don't know who you are(other than the name you posted)or where you came from, but my husband and I were listening to various renditions of "Purple Rain" and though I found some to be "nice" when he played yours and you got to the guitar solo, I started rockin' and doin' the "guitar-funk-sneer"---you know the one people do when the licks are so good they almost hurt?! Well, the ear buds came out, the eyes got closed, and I turned up and tuned out and rocked from side to side and listened again! Now all I can say is Whoo! (Mrs Rita Phillips)---oh, and the look you gave at the end---ha!
