Punches that Boxing Coaches Don’t Teach

Before trying these advanced techniques, make sure you have mastered the fundamentals. If you want to progress from a complete beginner to an advanced boxer as quickly as possible, get the KO Boxing Package. This training program will guide you through everything you need to know - koboxingpackage.weblium.site/
We all know the jab, cross, hooks, and uppercuts, which are the six basic punches in boxing. But if you dig deeper, you will discover many more advanced punching techniques.
In this video, I explain 17 different punch variations:
1. Up Jab
2. Down Jab
3. Screw Jab
4. Tapping Jab
5. Check Hook
6. Shovel Hook
7. Looping Hook
8. Gazelle Hook
9. Pivot Hook
10. Check Cross
11. Screw Cross
12. Chopping Cross
13. Check Uppercut
14. Hammer Uppercut
15. Bolo Uppercut
16. Rear Overhand
17. Lead Overhand
00:00 - 00:25 - Intro
00:25 - 04:12 - Jab Variations
04:12 - 08:40 - Hook Variations
08:40 - 11:45 - Cross Variations

Pithy but also a silly take. Take the Superman punch-the back foot isn’t planted, yet by kicking backward mid-air the body can still generate more than enough power for an effective cross. No beginner would ever think to move that way without being instructed. They certainly wouldn’t do it by accident. Same with the proper motion of a gazelle hook. It’s actually very clever and I seriously doubt any boxer naturally reproduced that motion as a beginner.

@@AG-ur1ljYou would be surprised by the amount of people with no training at all, but somehow have the instinct to utilize their bodies in ways that would seem impractical, yet actually effective in some ways. Your example, the superman punch, is probably one of the most common unorthodox punches lol, even with the air kick

All these are Great Examples for Each. Though one I think you criminally missed. Was Thomas Hearns for the Flicker Jab. Dude was like the Master of that Specific Attack. Most people couldn't even get through that. And if they did it was usually by the Skin of Their Teeth.

this is actually really well made, alot of like "this or that"punch information online is a bunch of messing up of names that somebody else would call a diffrent punch that and they call it this wich another calls this. This however uses a very clear naming scheme and is in general just how i see it too. Big thumbs up from me on this one

Yes me to i was expecting a slightly diffrent kind off..blows on the heands. controversial tehniques that are used..not to be long, this is at least more/less familiar ..put the check hook as an example. I learned it as a must, maybe as a first technique like moving back wards , since no good s direct line etc to go backwards..blah blah.. and since i am a kickboxer for example i used left chhook and than right knee (or a kick) etc..etc combo, nothing unknown here, the usual techniques.. but a good vid clear and orderly showed (more and less usual techniques)😐😏. 👋Greetings to you👍for your comment

Really solid video! I definitely learned a few good punches. I’ve never heard of the down jab before, I’ve definitely thrown it in 1-2-1-2 combinations. It’s a good one to be aware of. The screw jab should be called vertical fist jab. I already knew all of the hook variations), obviously my favorite pumch) but could you go into more detail about the differences between pivot and check hooks. Which is better and why would you pick one over the other. I also feel like you missed the leaping variations of cross and uppercut. (Leaping) cross being the advancing cross used by deontay wilder and leapfrog punch used by ippo. also, this might just be a style choice , but I have always be told overhand punches are thrown with the fist rotated over. great video overall and great selection of punches! I will 100% be practicing all of my check punches.

Hey! Thank you for the feedback, it’s really appreciated I personally use check hooks more because I am a taller guy for my weight but when I’m shorter than my opponent I use more pivot hooks, because I can create angle and attack with breaking the distance that much Yes leaping cross and uppercut are great punches. The first one I shared as one of the variations in my other video about punching techniques so I didn’t put it here. And leaping uppercut is just something I don’t use much Always happy to discuss stuff deeper in the comments 👊

Bro there are only two punches. Left and Right. All of these are simply a change of body position while punching. Punch selection is a matter of what position your body in because that dictates the nearest next position you can move to while throwing a punch. Any strong punch is going to change your position a little, which is why we find ourselves in varies positions. But my point is that its wrong headed to try to endlessly list and classify all the different positions as punch xyz because the punch is an outcome of the body position. The first thing you do is maneuver and take position which has already dictated what punches you can throw. If you understand how positioning works you can understand the next possible punch regardless of what it's called or what obscure style it's from. Look at Lerdsila for a clear example.

They use different muscles, they therefore require different technique, meaning they're different. Jab vs body hook is not a difference of "body position". ENTIRELY different muscles are the primary drivers.
