Puddles Pity Party - Where Is My Mind? (Pixies Cover)

Музыка

This magnificent tune is from Pixies album Surfer Rosa. What does it all mean? You tell me. I may have played fast and loose with the lyrics. Lyrics can be slippery little fishes sometimes.

I get it, I totally get it ... I am in West Georgia (Douglas Co.) and I totally get it ... some days I evangelize Puddles and I find it to be a hard sell - but man I am on it - and preaching the Puddles - I keep a sense of cheer and humor - and sell that too .. and sometimes no takers .. but I am on it, and I love you man, my brother of another mother ... I am a Puddles fan - but this is what makes you who you are ... not mainstream ... that is too easy - please keep the dream and I will be there at the end to hand you my best soft pillow for your head - you, me, Weird Al Yankovic, Tiny Tim, and all of the fans - we have our own place in heaven where we will be singing these songs in high voices, such as your rendition of 'Where is My Mind?' - you are brilliant and we love your shining light! Thank You for sharing this time on Earth with us, Puddles. I can appreciate that some do not 'get it' and it makes the remainder of us very special - and thank you for that, too.

When you sang this at Emonite, I had never heard the song or lyrics. I immediately studied it and was hit between the eyes. I struggled over why you chose this song at that time. My heart was wrenched... #sadgasm. Your song choice and the lyrics shouted softly at me during that painful week. …feet in the air and your head on the ground… spin it. (dizzy or lost, like in a hurricane) Head will collapse… nothing in it (just totally emptied / spent / gave it your all) Where is my mind… (what to feel?, what to think?… and all FL, Southeast and US was on hurricane watch, fearful about the storm and destruction about to make landfall) I was swimming in the Caribbean (I was somewhat lost too, out to sea, watching that hurricane approaching and wondering what was coming next.) Your performances then and now still blows me away. Thank you.
