It's amazing how a different version of a song with all the different inflections on the lyrics brings out various lines and helps the listener to better understand the meaning of the song. Like reading a book and then hearing someone else read it aloud.

Nice Shirt I agree in the sense of genre enjoyability, I’m a big My Chemical Romance fan, but how he inflects some of the lyrics makes me notice certain patterns and ideas differently.

Very rarely does a cover really hit the feels the same as the original and I love this version every bit as much as the original

To this day, this is my favorite cover EVER. The pain and loss he conveys in his tone and facial expressions is so dark and haunting. Such an amazing talent. I'll come back to this as long as I'm able to.

i am a 40 year old man who lost his wife in child birth to our only daughter who thankfully lived. It will be six years in January. the worst part of grief is the numbness you feel so you can go on functioning but you miss having emotions. I cannot express enough the release and poignancy to me personally when the bridge hits. being able to cry occasionally after going through what i’ve gone through is better than sex. better than getting drunk. better than getting angry. in fact i haven’t watched this song and not cried at that part. So puddles and your buddy Mike: thanks for letting me sleep tonight. i needed it

I know human experiences cant be compared even if they are very similar, its so unique not matter the similarities. I lost my only child a few hours after birth but i understand that in our own worlds its a feeling that only we can know ourselves. Thank you for coming out to share a tiny piece of your story, I truly hope you can find peace through the rest of your life, I hope your daughter is well and will as well. A lot of people said they had no idea that Sia's "Chandelier" was about suicide until they heard his version with Postmodern Jukebox/his AGT audition. I'm one of those people.

you did a very important, sad, sweet, song justice. This song and MCR was and continues to be a HUGE impact on my life. Thank you for treating it with the reverence it deserves. This was my best friends favorite band and song, she died in 2005 in a car accident. Perfecty haunting in the sweetest way, I can still hear here singing in my old truck we drove around in but it sits broken down and full of memories. Thanks Puddles. 💜

The song is actually about the death of the Way brothers' grandmother Elena and their grief surrounding her loss. The name was changed to Helena in reference to the character from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, a play that heavily features sleep as a theme. Among other things, the play compares sleep to death and respite from the world.

I've been listening to this song since August 2020 when I first discovered you. It's one of my favorites of all your songs. I watched the videos from the club that night where you sang this and "Where is My Mind". It was a packed house, right up to the stage. What I loved was all the young people there giving you their undivided attention and adoration. They were hanging on to every word you sang and singing along, because, of course, they knew all the words. Your older audiences are more reserved, but these guys weren't hesitant to show you their love and appreciation throughout your performance. I was so pleased you got to experience that.

When you picked MCR and the Pixies for Emo Nite LA, did you have *any* idea how much we were going to love you for doing them the way that you do? Only you can take something already so melancholy, amplify it, and create something so haunting and beautiful at the same time. ❤️

Outstanding; the sheer emotion in this song is gut wrenching. Out of all the versions of this song, I think yours truly shows the pain the songwriters wished to convey they made the song.

Your rendition of this song brought me to tears. Your intention and careful plucking of the lyrics were so beautiful. Like the strings on a forgotten guitar.

As fantastic as your voice is on its own or with just your guitar, having full instrumentation to accompany you like in this video really takes your performance to another level. I'd love to hear you backed by a full orchestra some time! Thanks for all the fantastic music!

Nah Scooby. If the lady liked the cover, direct her to the cover. The original is good too, but it's also completely different in style. Better to warm people up to a song through a cover in a style they like, and use that as a gateway. Then they can go check out the original and perhaps other songs by the original artist. There's a ludicrously long list of songs that I like only because I fell in love with covers of those songs before I heard the original. If I had heard the original first I wouldn't have cared nearly as much for them or the covers - they would have been spoiled by the first impression.

To be fair, it’s been historically proven that it’s rarely the winners in these shows who really get far, but the runner ups. Just look at Melanie Martinez. I’m very confident that puddles will continue growing a cult following.

I never got to see Puddles on the show,but I watched the videos of his appearances,and the fact that I saw how talented this man is made me a fan right off the bat...I'm tired of mainstream crap.As Aerin said.MOST of the winners of that show go nowhere,I'm just glad he got to appear to a world wide audience,then those of us that truly appreciate what he's doing can enjoy it without the industry trying to change and ruin everything.

I'm not. What do the winners get? A contract? Chains? Puddles got put on television. Everyone got to see and hear someone so few comparatively already knew about. Hopefully the rest of this year and 2018 will be the beginning of all the good things he so rightfully deserves for all his hard work and talent.

How did I not know this existed? I am seriously obsessed with this cover and obsessed with Puddles Pity Party of course. He's seriously so underrated and the world is a better place because of him and his music.
