Morphing the double stroke roll
It's "one punch man" of double stroke roll!
Thanks Gordy! You are very helpful. Though it seems that the first stroke (down) is always slightly brighter for the same velocity. There's probably some 'limit' to how timbrally similar the 2 strokes can be; the acoustic properties of the hand/stick system is altered twice during a cycle. Some of the energy that's liberated downward on the down cycle is damped or captured on the up cycle (hand closing). it's mechanically tricky to make them truly identical. But it gives a cool groovy feeling!
Do you have any practice tricks in order for both strokes to have identical timbres? (or at least as close as possible from one another)
What microphone are you using to record your drums

No drums recorded on this, just a pad. The 2002 video was a shotgun mic and a kick mic. I don't remember what brand.
