I worked with a crew that fitted machinery worldwide. All our batteries had to be removed and put in to a marked padded fireproof case prior to travelling. Some really useful tips. Thanks for the video :)
Great video I've been doing diy electric bikes for 2 years with what I learn on KZread. This video explains everything very well and makes like so much easier after watching this video. Keep up the great work pal

@UK Outdoor Flowers 30mph plus is that safe with that gear cycle frame?
Absolutely love the Kirby kits. I have a 500w rear hub diy kit and the install was pretty straight forward, had to test fit the wheel two or three times. I also ditched the bag and designed and 3d printed a bracket and integrated cable management box. I made a custom torque bracket from 4mm stainless steel. The 500w kit is all I ever need. Good power and pretty good range with the included battery 48v 13a. Nice instructions not many go into detail about the washers.👍

What’s the throttle only speed?
13:00 yes when the wires touch you are actually completing a circuit on the coils this is reason why you have resistance which is only present in permanent magnet motors. If if was a induction motor you wont experience any resistance until you apply power to the coils.
Great video, I done mine a few months ago and had the same issue with hydraulic brakes very close to the hub but the spacers done the trick.
I like these videos. The everyday use approach (obviously you don't need everything in the kit, if you don't want to).. and the subtle humor and throughness. One thing I would've liked to see was the casette/freewheel installation, and probably some mention of the hub spacing on MTB's (depending on the type of dropout), what you can do and what you can't do. There's plenty of videos on the tube about changing freewheel/casette for sure, but not many doing it on a 2kW hub motor. I've got an MTB with QR dropouts and those only have 135mm spacing at the hub. It won't fit a motor like this and a 7 speed freewheel/casette I think.
Finally... I've seen guys from cali messing with this hub motors years ago, and gosh they had some powerful ones. Well done and explained.
Mate I love the walkthrough step by step so much detail put into it which makes it even better to understand thanks for that was amazing bro ’ll be doing as you say to build my own sometime when I get around to getting all the stuff when I have the money can’t wait to watch the rest bro thanks 🙌👌👍🤙😎😎

Well done Steve..this will help alot of people doing there diy builds. Some really good points there, a few important tips that for new builders can be a Real ball ache. 👍
Best tutorial ever! Thanks bro for sharing allí this info with us, this Is the exact same kit I want to buy
@DudeStuff Buddy these three ebike build videos are just awesome and will save a lot of new ebike builders time without the frustrations and headaches. The information on removing the plastic spacer behind the disc brake is so helpful along with the washer spacings for the dropout. I can wait to try my installation again when I have the opportunity!
Great video. Could not have done it without it. Covered all the nuances clearly and succinctly. Perfect.
Just bought & fitted my first Kirkbe kit. Your advice on fitting washers to the cassette side of the wheel saved me from smashing the kit into a million pieces, in utter frustration! Thanks chap, top, top geeza!!! I agree about the PAS sensors too, can be a real pain to fit and using throttle only gives a much smoother ride.

Watched this video before I built an Ebike from a kit, saved me lots of time. I would not have known to remove the disk spacer, slotted right in. I built the bike in 1.5 hour.
finally, a no BS Channel cheers Dude will be soaking you're vids n knowledge of the Ebikes.
I learned a lot from this video, especially about installing the back wheels. Now I know why I started getting play when I fixed back wheel flats. Never used a hammer to fit it into the cassette.
Thank you for making this video. I have been thinking about building my own electric bike and most videos are more like paid promotions and don't have a lot of actual advice in them. I would make one suggestion on buying the caliper space to the motor. They sell brake disc shims to go behind the rotor in 1mm increments. Use a rotor shim, and then you can adjust the caliper on the mount as they usually have some side to side adjustability to keep the pads evenly spaced on each side.
Great video, so clear and realistic nice tip about not applying the brakes and locking up the pads.
Following this vid, my wheel has gone in easily - almost too easily :-) Everyhting lined up virtually straight away, seems solid. I like how you minimalise it, using only the stuff you really need. Mine will be built the same style.
This was an awesome video!!! Iv watched other videos about such and dudestuff actually answered some of the questions I had! We will see if I can make it look as smooth
This is excellent education. This chap is explaining everything he can think of.
That was very easy to understand, well done, your very professional in walking us through the process, thank-you
Great video. In the near future I will build Kirbebike's 1500-2000w hub motor kit for my second bike. I just ordered it. My first conversion was a Bafang 750w mid kit. I drive it mostly in the forest and in the countryside. I got some good tips for the future conversion from your video👍
Very well put together video, great job!! Just got my first ebike last week and i love it!!
appreciate the mention about the motor wires that the motor won't spin if they are touching, many people don't mention that. Thank you.
Great tutorial for fitting the rear wheel with great detail 👍
Nice walk through on the install. The only thing I would have done differently is using an old inner tube as protection of the frame where the jubilee clip is at. I also used old tubes to protect the frame from the chain and if you take your time wrapping the frame it actually can look good.

By the looks of it, this clip saving a bunch of headaches, pretty much mandatory viewing if contemplating this kit....
That's what I like to see in England, a proud Englishman, respect from a proud Irishman 🇮🇪🤝🏴🤝🇬🇧
Glad to see you were using flush cut cutters to trim the tails off the cable ties. The number of times I cringe when someone cuts off the cable tie tails leaving a 3 x 4mm razor sharp edge. I used to use thousands of cable ties at work and if we left any sharp edges we were in trouble from whoever cut themselves on them. By using those flush cut cutters with the flush side toward the head of the tie the tail gets cut flush with the surface leaving no sharp bit sticking out.
Good video . Thanks. I enjoyed the terminology differences between your location and mine. Eg: " Jubilee clip" where i am is called a " hose clamp". Cheers!
Excellent presenting skills. Sounds like you covered just about everything. 👍
Very helpful thanks mate look forward to part two might have a go myself
Great build my man. Can't wait to see u ripping about on it👍

Great video, keep up the great work. Makes me really want an E bike now. Cheers 🍻
Yeah great video dude. First timer here. Great coverage of small details. Love the smart casual dress code too.
I would also think that spreading the rear end with a washer may result in having to space the rear brake disc, or you might find it binding with the bake pads all in all a very good tutorial for beginners. ;-)

Hey Steve, great video I’m now watching part 2 on the telly. Do you know if one of these kirbebike kits (maybe not a 2000w one) would work with v-brakes?
The one thing I wish that these conversion kit manufacturers would do is make some kind of housing that can contain the controller and then the housing could bolt to the seat tube to secure it. That would make installing the kit much easier for the one installing the kit.

Great video. I am confused on the rear freewheel/cog. 6/7/8 speed are all the same. Then you have 9, 10 and 11speed brining newer I presumed? What do I need to get to match my Carrera Kraken for a build? Cheers
Good video! It helped me with my first 1000w ebike! 😀

Nice one! Highlighted all the mistakes I made, very well explained
those brake sensors are good for a sop brake light set up and the PAS not bad to give tomb a break and for more pedaling
Been looking for this for ages…great instructions thanks
11:43 there is another tip as well if you put your disc rotor on to the actual e-bike wheel vs you noticed there is a arrow pointing on the desk facing you apply your tyre which the arrow is facing the same way as the disc
Absolutely fantastic Ebike Build Video! 👌 Can you tell me with the stuff shipping straight from China do you get hit with an added VAT bill or customs charges at a later date or if you buy this is the price all inclusive of shipping vat and charges? I ask as I know imports has changed dramatically since Brexit :(
good stuff i am still on my first ebike but had to replace the controller....i am soaking up tips and info on all aspects of ebikes...
Mount your hub motor so wire is pointing mostly DOWNWARD, and leave small dip in wire before you strap it to bike frame. Reason is because you want any water or moisture to run off wire, and not towards axle of motor. Yes, the slant of dropout will prevent you from pointing wire to 6 o'clock, and that's why i said, mostly. But he's right about that zipper bag. Do not cover shell of motor controller. It acts as a heatsink for motor phase MOS-FETs (transistors). It needs air for cooling.
i like your video and I am by no means an expert on this subject couple of things the color black as in the speed controller keeps the heat in white and silver reflects heat also if that case is alloy it looks to be the paint will peal off there is a special process for painting alloy called etching i only know this because i did work in a powder coating company and we did coat alot of alloy if not done correctly well you will see otherwise very informative video
I went for the front wheel option. More weight on the front in crap weather and no friction involved. Bit like a front wheel drive car, it will pull the steering out of trouble.
@DudeStuff
7 ай бұрын
High power front hubs are sketchy they can slide out from underneath on turns in wet weather, unlike a car that won't fall over. The dropouts on most forks aren't great for over 1000w imo. Feels really weird dropping off a kerb on front wheel power as it loses momentum instantly as the front leaves the ground.
Nice job save... you have to take in account of REAR flat tire... he has it nice and tight but that doesn't work out well once he gets a rear flat tire. I've rode my E-bike so much that I keep a repair kit on me to repair a flat to and from work. Gotten good enough I can usually to that repair within 20 minutes but the same note? I had my motor hub or the front and nine tenths of flats happen to the rear tire. Usually front tire pops up something sharp and REAR hits it. I'm going rear drive this build around... so I'm also going to go either with a solid tire or solid inner-tube because? I've had a day that was bad enough? I changed TWO flats in one day, new innertube and all and inspecting the tire itself to insure I did pull out the offending item that punctured my innertube. But even with the front mounted motor? I MADE SURE there was enough slack in the power cord leading to it? I could pull the wheel off enough to change the innertube. It's tricky but possible but ONLY if you leave enough slack with the power cable leading to the motor. He's got his power cable so snug to the motor... he is going to have to cut those zip ties to be able to get the tire FAR ENOUGH off the bike frame to change a flat. But besides that? Spot on nice and tight work! A little too tight in my opinion. Then again I use by bike to commune to work so I need the ability to fix a flat on the spot. You'd be surprised how fixing a flat for twenty minutes beats walking your bike home to fix it THEN spending that 20 minutes fixing it there.
Thank you for this! Great guide video and easy to understand.
Thanks for the learning curve. Now I can be a first time expert. That brake spacer would have been cut into tiny pieces after it came off if I had to figure that out the hard way. when did they start using USA sirens over there?
Clear and concise. Thanks mate - great help 👍

Great tutorial. Very well explained thank you!
I'd probably spray the controller white. Even a fine layer of black will cause the part to absorb heat. Seen tests done on intercoolers with white black and bare metal and the white wins. I'm looking to convert my bike. I've got a 10 or 11 speed derailleur. Can I just use the travel stop screw to limit my gear changer?
Great vid with quite a few gotchas. Nice one, subscribed😎
Wont adding the washer to the drive side just move the caliper ? Will it now grab the disc on the inside as its not central?
I fitted bafang midrive 1000 w hd on to a 29er verry happy with it

Great advice. I'm considering getting a kit now.

Thanks! I could not stand mismatched wheel sizes, and it was one of my upgrades in my last video. Do you have link to 2000W motor? It looks identical to my 1500w
I have an orbea laufey h30 and it’s a 12 speed cassette so will I need to fit my cassette into the ebike back wheel for it work? Because I have more gears than the 9 speed ebike wheel so if I go up to many gears will my chain jump off?

20:48 see me about the caliper hydraulic caliper out what you have to do is on do the caliper Mount which attaches onto it which is the actual bracket itself and then you move it side to side rock it off with the bottom very slightly the lock off for the top those signing into is very secure then lock it off completely with an allen key which is approximately 5 to 6 ml

Am I right in assuming you need to take all this off to repair a rear puncture or replace rear inner tube/tyre etc ? Thanks 😊
I purchased a bike with shimano 51-7 shifters that appear to be gear selector and brake lever built into one. The ebike kit I purchased has brake levers that disconnect the motor when applied. What would you suggest on how to incorporate the two? What thumb gear selectors/shifters should I replace the current ones with so that I can use the ebike brake levers and twist throttle?

I plan on making an ebike out of the bike I already own. 1000 watt with a 48 volt 20 ah battery. One other question is which reasonably priced rear wheel hub kit do you recommend? I am in the UK. Thanks
