Bitwig's Transient Control is pretty neat side-chaining device, which has one outstanding feature: attenuation/amplification factor for the body. Just the sake of an example Kilohearts Transient Shaper has a side-chain but body can be only amplified. Body attenuation is great for giving space in other percussions for a kick hit (works also for bass body). I wish there was equivalent VST available because it is really useful especially for more non-standard basslines where bass hits are all over the place at times...

Some genuinely useful info here. the thing about lfotool and retriggering.... never knew that, and it would have saved me a whole lotta hassle on the most recent track where I had stupid sync issues. *shakes fist at sky* curse you Ableton! That said, honestly, for these kinds of videos it would help a lot, from a viewers perspective, to run with Live scaling turned way up, or record in a lower resolution and zoom in on the Device View in Live. I watched this on a 38" TV and everything was still too small - also at the max video resolution the text resizing looks horrific - I'm assuming you're running natively at 1440p or 4k? accessibility is crazy important, and potentially one that's thing holding back your otherwise knock-out technical content from reaching a wider audience. 🙏🙏

hey dude thanks I hadn’t really considered that before. I’m running a 5k screen so i can imagine that’s not really translating well to anything that isn’t huge 😅 I’ll see what i can do about that!

I’m gonna double check this but I believe the linear phase latency will affect the whole project. So there shouldn’t be any issues with the timing of that first note.

the retrigger function with external instrument to the lfo tool is pure gold. thanks for that. but it's a pity that it doesn't let any sound through when there is no trigger. this is especially a problem if, for example, you have 8 base midi in a row without a kick.

Great Info all around! Thanks a lot! 1 thing though, do you phase align? or with this is enough?

Yes I always aim for the best phase relationship. I tend to just use the velocity technique so the phase still needs to be right. If you do the method where you cut the sub off the bass you have a bit more leeway but you should still shift the kick to find the best phase position.
