PSE Evolve 35 Compound bow review 2017

Спорт

The PSE Evolve 35 compound bow uses the Evolve cam cam system which is new to PSE in 2017. The Evolve cam system is a Twin cam system with a yoke built into each cam. The yoke runs around the cam like a pully system.
In the review we compare the PSE Evolve 35 with other 3D compound bows and compare the Evolve cam system with the Darton cam system which is the closest to the the Evolve.
We chronograph the Evolve and shoot the Evolve at 18metres.
We compare th Evolve 35 to the PSE Decree HD which is also 35" axle to axle.

Love all your reviews! I have one quick question ! I've seen some Evolve 35's with a flex cable slide like the one in your review and others that have the same style that's on the new 2017 target bows ! Is this something you have a choice to order or can they be switched after purchase and is there a big difference between the two? Lol maybe this question wasn't so quick after all! Anyways love your reviews and thank you for all your hard work! Ty from Canada!

Tested the Mathews 32, Hoyt pro defiant, Evolve 31 and Evolve 35. All great bows. You really can't go wrong with any of them. For me the Mathews 32 has the best fit and finish and the best draw. But the Evolve 35 stod out as the best package all things considered. That being said the Evolve 31 is one hard hitting bow. By far the most speedy and agressive bow i tested. The Evolve 31 and 35 feel very different. These bows really has to be tested before you deside what to buy. There are all just that good that small subjective things make the difference.

The modules are in, It would be interesting. I shoot the Xpression on 65%. I did not see a big increase in speed. But the theory is it creates more tension and a better release. But I will run it through and check.

You are the best! Period. I have watched dozens of bow review videos ...you are on top. I live in florida and wish i could come to Australia and buy a bow from your shop and meet you. I have a question...i want to buy a pse 2019 evolve 35. Should i buy a left over 2019 or a new nxt? Is there really a difference in smoothness of draw and shootability? I am 73 Years old and can only pull 52 pounds so smoothness and ease of draw at my draw weight is very important. OR SUGGEST A DIFFERENT BOW ALL TOGETHER THANKS SO MUCH !!!

I know I'm a year late watching this but I'm looking for a new 3D bow. The pse dampeners kept flying out of my decree ti. Try turning them so that the little red crown looking bits face in instead of out. I haven't had one fly off since. Great reviews. You turned me on to a supra.

Supra is a great bow. I dont want the rubber things moving. I shoot with a Hoyt shooter and his Hoyt rubber things cames out in a comp, it had a huge impact on where the arrows landed. I was using the limbsaver on my Dominator but I have not bothered with the Xpression. When my Perform comes I may put some on again. We will see. But good point. Thanks

I shot the shorter ATA Evolve (black model, 31" ATA I think?) in my local shop when I was buying my Halon. Awesome bow. I loved it. If I wasn't so swooned with Mathews and I hadn't shot the Halon, I probably would of bought it. It was the next best bow I tried. The 90% let off was incredible feeling. It's the best PSE hunting bow I've ever shot. The evolve definitely felt like to me that it was PSE's answer to the Halon. At least spec wise. Any idea why you were getting so much variation in the chronograph speeds? 310 to 301 seems a little odd with the same arrows.

How would you compare this with the Martin Inferno 33 you did a review on back in March Steven? They seem to have some fairly similar features, and your grouping on the Martin was 3 arrows touching, also without a peep or stabilizer. The Martin came in at 270ft, so it is a bit slower, but very competitive price wise. ps Have you ever had anything to do with Oneida? I'm tossing up purchasing a Kestrel from them, which is a lever action limb bow that they claim is recurve drawing smooth and compound bow power. I almost purchased one earlier this year and all the reviews I've read have been fantastic. Then after watching more of your bow reviews I held off. I've decided I'm purchasing a bow as my Christmas present to me, and still tossing up between the Martin Inferno (maybe the 35), the Oneida Kestrel and this PSE Evolve and probably the PSE Beast. Cheers

I was the Australian Distributor for Oneida. So I love the Oneida product, great for finger shooters. The Oneida is a smooth draw but not fast. Oneida has just changed owners so hard to get and expensive. I would say more work on Oneida and more noise. The Martin Inferno did not take off - It had good features - but the weight of the bow was to heavy. The Martin also has draw length adjusted by modules. Martin Inferno has the heat paint process which is good. I have had six customers shoot the Evolve now and they love it. Some target archers have shot it and they are thinking about it for target shooting. The Evolve 35 comes in target colours too. I think when you are looking at a new bow you look at your budget and look at what bow you like the best. I think the Evolve would be on top of most lists to check. PSE is such a rock solid company. The products are well priced and the service is the best. The bows are very adjustable too.

I have the chance to get one of these or a 2015 Nitrum for a bit less. The sales rep played down the Evolve and pushed the Nitrum. He said he didn't like the new ECS cable system, but didn't elaborate. Is he just pushing dead stock, or is the older Nitrum 34 that good of a bow? If I lived anywhere near your shop, I'd ask in person before buying from you. Just love the reviews. But I'm in Canada so...

Also right now I own a bunch of bows but my halon 6 is by far the most accurate. I use that for 3d and also as a backup hunting bow. How does this compare to halon 6? I am looking to upgrade my main hunting bow which is a pse dna with HD cams. I really like the idea of the 90% letoff on the evolve. My only knock on the halon is that it is kind of heavy for a hunting bow and I have all my 3d accessories on it, lens, target sight, longer stab. So i'd like to use that just for 3d and either get another halon this year or get the PSe evolve. I would be looking at the shorter evolve. So Evolve vs Halon for hunting and I am assuming you have shot both so I apologize ahead of time if you have not. Would love to hear your opinion. Thanks

Actually I have the same issue. I want a new Mathews and I like the Evolve. I find the Evolve a tad heavy for a hunting bow. I would also like the Halon and Halon 32 to be lighter. I think this is why customers like the Carbon Air with ECS.

PSE record all bows by the serial number to the dealer who sold them and customer and what work has happened to them. I sell PSE bows all over Australia, so if I have a problem it is just Name, Serial number, part. Normally it is 3 weeks for the parts to come in. If the customer has the ability to a shop close the parts are sent out or they return the bow for repair.

I wouldn't say it is a "totally" different cam system from the Darton. PSE made another wrap around the cam vs Darton's "dual Track" in order to get by Rex Darlington's Patent. Copying a design, then claiming they are the one's that came up with it is something PSE has always been known for. I personally own both Dartons and PSEs and really love both. PSE did make significant improvements to their version of the multi-track binary. I don't like the module system on the Darton because they are too dang expensive! I find it ironic that the rotating module of the PSE Evolve is ALSO very much like the rotating module on Darton's single track binary on their DS-700. I am a big fan of BOTH brands. My comments are based on fact. I am not biased toward one more than the other. I just hate that people aren't being totally honest when they give PSE all the credit for the system that Rex Darlington came up with TEN YEARS ago.

I agree. The cam system on the Evolve has variable let off, which is nice. I like the Darton cam system too. Darton have always made great cams and good bows. I agree buying modules is a pain and expensive.

Am I the only one that's thankful PSE is doing away with the model name "plates" that they put above the shelf on the riser?(The plate that said Decree or Stinger, etc etc.) I always thought that looked tacky, and sort of gave their bows a sort of toy like appearance. Now obviously these bows aren't toys, PSE make quality stuff. I just thought they should put the model name on the limbs like every other bow manufacturer. Looks cleaner, more polished and more "professional" even. Professional probably isn't the right word to use but it's the only thing coming to mind. It also looks like PSE is doing away with the ridiculous(in my opinion) "spiky" looking vibration dampeners they use in the limbs, on the cable guard, etc. That's another thing I thought looked out of place. Like putting a big muffler on a Prius or something. Now their dampeners are much more sleek, similar to Hoyt style even I'd say. I never was big on PSE bows because even though I liked their specs, and the performance they were getting -- I just couldn't get past the aesthetics, and I'm a pretty material guy when it comes to bows. It's gotta look good if I'm gonna shoot it. Fortunately most modern bows look good so it's not an issue. This is another reason why I liked the Evolve so much. How they label the limbs, the lack of the riser "name plate", no tacky looking dampeners. The new style direction PSE is utilizing on the evolve just looks cleaner, and more refined. That "toy'ish" look is gone, and I think they made the right choice by going in this direction with their styling. Some will disagree with me, and say all these things are what gave PSE's their own character -- and I guess I can understand that point of view, but we'd agree to disagree there.

  • @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale

    @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale

I love the fact PSE dont put the name on the limbs. PSE use to put the name on the limbs. The problem with putting names on limbs is the limbs are often the same limbs are used on different bows. Then the real problem is in 5 years if you need new limbs for the PSE Xforce GX. PSE would need to paint the GX on the limbs. It is much simpler have the Brand on the limb.' Further when the graphics on the limbs change then if PSE had old limbs customers would want th next graphics.
