My PlayStation stopped turning on. Watched all the other “fixes” for my PS4 wont turn on and nothing worked. My power button hasn’t worked in 6 years. Used this video to fix my power button, and low and behold I have a working PS4 again! THANK YOU! In 2022!!!

And I need it to NOT work bcs it puts itself into sleep mode almost all the time. Got it open, put a nylon tape between the hinge and the gold connector and closed it. On/Off button doesn‘t work no more. I hope that connector was causing the auto-sleep/turning off issue🤞 @GamerJoe85 thx for showing how the on/off button works. Haven’t found it elsewhere.

Remember that top part slides on not clicks on...thts probably y it didnt work...but idk about the goin into sleep mode bit....maybe u need to slide it on too not click it on

I can say that the button now not working, my PS4 never puts itself into sleep mode again. So I would say it´s a success.

Thanks this video fixed all my issues. My power button hadn’t been working for a couple of years and I would always use my controller to power on. My PS4 started having issues and I was unable to fix them without being able to access the safe mode menu. Within seconds of properly securing the metal piece, the power button worked again and I was able to access safe mode and now my PS4 is working great!

DUDE YOU'RE THE BEST!! 6 years without the power button working on my ps4 and now is ALIVE! Just a tip: my ps4 has never been opened, so I just took off the cover a little but and it was enough to solve the problem with the little piece of metal.

You just saved me I’m a reseller and I bought a perfectly working one I wanted to clean up the top from so much dust and I couldn’t turn it back on after that but you fixed my problem I was gonna sell it for parts. Thank you!!!

Once I realized that all you needed to do was press a piece of metal against that metal square on the ps4, I was actually able to bend up the plastic cover and press a paper clip against the metal piece of the PS4. My original tab was pretty bent so this allowed me to transfer my ps4 data to my ps5 without taking the cover off. Thanks for the demonstration, great video!

UPDATE: i used your same method for my disk drive button since that had the same issue. turns out the metal part that touches the pad to activate it wasnt even touching it. good job all around.

You DO know that the clear plastic with two torx screws holding it down is supposed to stay attached to your silver top cover right? If you had removed those torx screws too then the power button would not be an issue. If you keep flexing/bending metal, especially that thin, it will suffer metal fatigue and break, then you're really screwed.

One security screw (black) in the back where the hdmi is, and two security screws ( silver ) under the 1st lid where the hard drive is. Then it snaps off, very gently pull up the front

This video is 4 years old but helpful. I have the same PS4 and the cover to the plastic that the guy is pointing out is attached together with double sided tape instead of it being two separate pieces.

Yo my guy, you’re a lifesaver! I thought my piece broke off too, But somehow mine was shoved under that clear plating and it just looked like it got snapped off, so I really had to work and practically bend my case to get it in the right position, (honestly don’t know how I could have done it to begin with) and now I have a working power button again! Unfortunately it was not also a fix for my disc tray button 😕 threw you a sub for the help tho my g 🤙🏻

Many thanks for this - my power button mysteriously didn't work after just taking my PS4 apart to change the thermal paste. Pushed the metal prong under following your instructions and hey presto my power button works again!

This helped!! Btw your fridge has a defrost issue. That noise is the evaporator fan hitting frost that hadnt defrosted during the defrost cycle. If you unplug it and leave the doors open for 12 hours “not running” doors OPEN!. To defrost all the ice inside the evaporator, it will work great and if the noise returns you have either a bad defrost timer, bi metal/heater.... i kmow you prolly have a new fridge by now but you helped me so im helping whoever too lol. - appliance refrigeration instructor

I came across this video because i reset my ps4 and got up to this point. My power button actually wasn't working but this showed my how to fix that issue, my only problem now is that my power button is acting as the reset button as well so now i basically have 2 resets. still going to look for other options but this video helped so much!!!!
