can you do Supply Blocking to gm? do whatever strategy you want, but just focus on killing their supply buildings/overlords. fight/harass as normal but dont kill their buildings, just kill their supply buildings then leave their base lol and repeat until they leave. i bet people would get very salty lmao

Bongcloud opening forces enemy to self-destruct... truly one of the most dangerous mindgames in Starcraft

Barcode has become the universal symbol for insecurity.

The bongcloud opening is named after the fact that you need to take massive bong hit to think this opening is a good idea.

It's called Bongcloud because you'd have to be high to do it

Now every time I trade a unit or two in a game I say “we take those, guys”

"I didn't even beat him: he *DESTROYED* himself." That had me rolling! 🤣

Thermy's cheerful disposition is infectious. I feel like listening to him is a pretty decent mild anti depressant.

Bongcloud comes from chess because one Grandmaster Paul Morphy back in 1845. It is called an "Opera game" where he plays against 2 dukes during an opera somewhere in France. He was winning a few games really easy, so he tried to spice up the game and flex on his opponents at the same time. So he took a fat rip from the bong and made the absolutely worst move possible - moving his king forward on move 2. This loses castling rights and exposes your king. I completely made that up btw, except the king move part.

marc, your starcraft brain is A+. The way you can predict your opponents moves, and counter AND add commentary is just amazing.

i like these nostalgia episodes, but just a suggestion for future ones - maybe you can do them in regions where you didn't do the challenge? e.g. do bongcloud in NA, do marine medivac in EU, etc.

the chess move is named Bongcloud partially because you would have to be stoned to use it as its really stupid. A couple people did it on purpose as a handicap. the move is to move your king on turn 2 into a terrible position. There was a guy online in chess named Lenny_Bongcloud who tried it a lot (and failed to win). The more famous uses of the move are grandmasters who were doing it as a handicap against lower ranked players.

I used to play chess and I never heard of the BongCloud. However hilarious to know about and awesome to see worked into an RTS version. Great content

Haha never thought of moving my base right at the beginning. Genius - for additional head-peck, try and wall-off the ramp leading up to the main immediately after bonging, so when they ground-scout they get even more confused.

Proxy gas to GM. That's where you drop a refinery on his third and bounce a couple of workers back and forth between the refinery and the minerals wasting his resources before he takes his third. The round trip between the nearest mineral patch and the refinery is about 3 times faster than to a base so you can waste the resources very quickly.

Bong cloud to GM 2.0: Marc hits the bong before each match and makes up the ‘highest’ strategy he can 💨 💨 💨

I have an idea for a showmatch. Ask some pro to organise a game between you and some other pro but you will both be barcodes, neither of you would know who do you play and your goal would be to discover who the other player is and win of course. Who guesses right first has the right to pick the next map, who guesses but is wrong automatically loses the map pick.

The major benefit of the bongcloud is that it makes your disrespect of your opponent perfectly clear, for flexing purposes.

The name of that chess opening seems mainly random. Somebody suggested it in Nakamura's twitch-chat, which is what essentially made it popular.

Can't say anything about SC2 players, but it is very well known, that people are much ruder and more aggressive behind the screen and behind the wheel. It is linked to being anonymous / safe, so your hypothesis sounds very plausible. Barcode players could very well be more salty, simply because very few people will know who's being salty. Also thank you for all the great content! I haven't played Starcraft in easily 10 years, but always await your videos eagerly!

You'd be so far behind on SCVs because of the travel time, I don't think you'd catch back up before the golden minerals ran out.

Protoss challenge idea: Capes to grandmaster the main army needs be a unit that wears a cape, so high templar, dark templar, and adepts
