These Oliveira-Serral games are right up there with the Clem-Serral games in terms of best ZvT games of all time. The skill level is insane. I'm so glad Oliveira is staying sharp and looking like a real contender for a 2nd WC in a row. Massive props to Serral as well, coming in during his military service and showing he's still on top by winning the tournament.

I would say Serral got bamboozal twice by 8 rack two bases all in. He was never in any real danger in other maps. In the Macro map, Serral was never being pressured like when he fought Clem. So it’s more because Serral finding ways to deal with 2 bases all in. And in the last map, he decided that he need viper to neutralise the tank.

I already am taking Oli seriously. I think his championship win, in a weird way, made people more doubtful of him than they should be. Players and casters praise people like Spirit, Scarlett or Classic - and with good cause, they're amazing. But they don't have the same results as Oliveira - and somehow don't get as much doubt/skepticism as him. Oli is amazing, and I'm sure he'll give us a lot more great, nail-biting games!

Agreed, I don't see why people say they find Serral's style boring. He's not a chaotic player like Dark (whom I absolutely love). But all of the little details of his play are so beautiful - how he distracts with the first 2-4 lings to allow the ovie to get a good scout of the base. He's the only zerg to consistently do really cool stuff like overlord drops or contaminating the opponent's tech research. Look at the corner base steal in game 1, ffs! He's a lot more creative than people give him credit for.

Anyone who thinks serral lacks flair categorically should see his pocket builds.

He only started taking the tourn seriously after he lost the first map against Oliveira. After he lost another point, he already adapted to Oliveiras playstyle and came out as the victor. 1:17:00-1:18:00 What an utterly ridiculous hold by Serral! His army was severely outmatched, he makes the call to cut off reinforcements which helps cut off the army just long enough for him to get something together, then the moment his lings on the other side dies, he moves in. If Serral is even five seconds slower to take out the main army there, Olivera's reinforcements arrive, get set up and the position becomes unbreakable, but Serral somehow managed to stall for exactly enough time to barely hold. Olivera looked incredible there, definitely the most impressed I've ever been by him. He came within a few seconds of taking the series.

"the helions to protect the siege tanks" could almost be Oliveira's tagline. Its like byun "picks up ... and heads to the main". If you recall his world championship run, this move is what clinched his victories in several important matches. He's a lot more dynamic than that obviously, but when his tactical gameplay is on point its these little things that wins him games.

You mentioned a couple videos ago that you read the comments, and so I'd like to say it seems like you have been doing re-winds and slow downs of critical moments and I REALLY love this! Action happens so fast it's hard to tell what is going on sometimes and it's great to go back and see a key battle in slow motion, or be able to view another piece of action. With his ability to focus, and keep focus on like ten things at the same time, he'd be put in a command center (a real one) to keep tabs on enemy movements, possibly anticipating hostile actions. Yes, real life warfare isn't quite SC2, but with his talent for keeping a cool head and giving orders rapidly while things are happening all over the place, it would be insane to just stick a rifle in his hands and tell him to bag at least three Russians before he eats it.

First of all let me state that Maru played horribly during the Finals and Serral was still playing like the best player in the world that he is. Now onto the reason why Maru lost so quickly. -It's like 4am Korean time during the finals so maybe Maru is not used to the timezone change. Remember most of the player Maru beat during this tournament is also Korean. -Maru had always known to have inferior tactics compare to Serral, most of the game Serral beat Maru, he beat Maru with superior build order, Serral didn't even have to do anything too fancy. -Maru clearly choked both game 3 and game 4, which bring me to my point where i don't think Maru is a very tough player mentally. He performs just fine when he is ahead but he can't play well when he is behind.

I feel like he probably didn't prepare for this specific series as apparently him and Olivera are training partners right now, I won't take anything away from olivera given how this tournament played out and how serral played against another opponent after this, it feels like it was more of a warmup series. Serral played game 3so damn well. It would be so easy to get frustrated and incidentally throw that game as Zerg. Also, Oliveira's 8 rax timings are so damn good! The mind games going into that game 5 were insane. Does he go for the 8 rax timing one more time, knowing that it basically won him 2 games, but Serral might be expecting it, or does he go for a longer game, trying to capitalize on Serral trying to stop the 8 rax timing? GG's WP Oliveira!

Serral wholly beat the entire army he could see @ 1:07:28 . all the marines & 'bats he could see, all dead by 1:07:40 , and one of the three tanks. he did *not* kill the army he only discovered @ 1:07:30 , and splitting banes toward that second force, ineffectively, kept Serral from killing the other two tanks. He lost that battle, and so that game, informationally. He moved so confidently because he's used to complete scouting info - he didn't have it this time!

5 less bane hp with cheaper marine upgrades seems a little scuffed If it wasn't for the marine buffs I'd say perhaps they want to bring the equilibrium a little lower, less high powered slugging (which I'd say is a good goal) but as it is, just seem to push away from ling bane Maybe understandable, it could be used pretty late, but just a slightly bigger chokehold on zerg early game
