Ғылым және технология

What is blockchain good for? It's been a great tool for plenty of scams and get-rich-quick schemes, and Proton CEO Andy Yen explains that it's rare to find a proper use case for security and privacy...but it DOES exist.

This is what I have been thinking of for months. I really resonate with this guy's views. Blockchain tech is actually being exploited for the most of it. There are barely any good projects trying to add some value to the customers. I am a final year college student and I've had some experience working in the web3 space. Unfortunately, I find it really hard to search for a web3 company which is trying to address some real problems. I am a highly passionate person currently struggling to search for a good opportunity to work as a technology guy. I like working closely with systems and that is why I entered the web3 space in the first place. But I regret this move now because I don't feel like working for most of the web3 companies out there 😢 and I have already invested a lot of time into it

Only if it was on Bitcoins network. Every other chain is a artificial blockchain. Tokenomics doesn't = how the servers work.

Every blockchain besides Proof of work. Is MODIFIABLE. Etherscan is pointless if it's on AWS server.

A Microsoft engineer came up with “Election Guard” which uses homomorphic encryption. This makes the vote totals publicly verifiable while protecting individual privacy. It also ensures all votes are genuine and 1 vote 1 person. They open sourced it and gave it away for free. Nobody wants it, I wonder why?

Without blockchain, there would be no crypto with utility. Maybe I'm wrong and not understanding crypto and blockchain. Are you for or against blockchain and crypto now?

Neither myself nor Andy are against blockchain or crypto. But its value for privacy and security isn’t as clear as it seems. I think Andy makes an interesting case here.

@AllThingsSecured if we're able to do KYC and the government is able to see what people are using exchanges, along with every transaction that happens, then it should be able to find out who is scamming and who is paying or not paying their taxes on the transactions from crypto. That's why the blockchain ledger is a valuable tool. Unfortunately, some of Congress keep pushing that crypto is used for black market things such as drug dealers and sex trafficking. In my opinion, it is a lot easier to follow the addresses of crypto and blockchain than it is to follow Fiat serial numbers on cash being used for illegal transactions. Just my opinion and 2 cents. I want you to know that I appreciate your time and videos because it's always something interesting when it comes to security and future security. Thanks for all you do.

I have to disagree strongly with Andy. All data would best be represented as a ledger of transactions. Block chains offer that sequence of data distributed globally, and the smart contracts running on top give us transparency as to how actions are happening, something we lack with all pre block chain technology. For example there's no way to mathematically prove an automated voting system is sound unless it's a smart contract on a block chain.
