    Although I haven't used any "Advanced" protection programs, I believe that the best protection program is how far you're willing to go to protect yourself. Using MFA, using a password manager (not writing things down and possibly loosing it). Checking the devices logged into your account and removing old ones, etc. I often think "if it's very easy for me, it may be even easier for a hacker." Heck, I'm still on the fence on passkeys 😅

    This is definitely a good step. It seems like you're doing everything you can on your end. The thing about Advanced Protection Programs is that they strengthen the account security on the company's end - the part that you don't have much control over. Which is a good thing as well.

  • @AllThingsSecured

    Personally, since 1Password doesn't have my private encryption keys, I'm not that worried about any 5-eyes anything. The government can request what they want to, but the encryption still exists. If the government can break that encryption, it wouldn't matter whether it's 5-eyes or not.

    Sorry but LinkedIn does allow MFA secure login. I have it setup on my profile using Microsoft Authenticator. Also Google uses the KZread App to verify you as does KZread and this can be actives also. Can KZreads be better yes, but it is there. However saying the LinkedIn doesn’t have MFA support is completely wrong.

  • @AllThingsSecured

    @AllThingsSecured

    I never said that LinkedIn doesn't allow for MFA. I said they don't allow for 2FA security keys (which is better than Microsoft Authenticator or SMS text which they do allow for). That's an important distinction. And KZread using their app to verify you is not strong security. The sheer number of high-profile KZread channels that have been hacked in the past 6 months is a testament to how bad their security is.

    No downside-Got a suggestion for you. How about addressing the issue where you change address & phone then try to update them on an account that uses 2FA. They are unable to reset your phone number if you dont have access to the old one for verification (which is why you contacted them in the first place). Tney also cant reset your password, if you need that for any reason, when you have 2FA in many cases. You cant enter 2FA without the password and you cant teset the password if tou need it reset. If you can address the pitfalls of 2FA that would be excellent. Yes having a 2FA key would be a good solution i think but you have to set it up Before such a disaster.

  • @AllThingsSecured
