    Thanks Lyn! I saw one of these in my local garden store, but I had some s=reservations on purchasing this. The ones I could buy were in a hanging basket and were a bit droopy. I was also concerned it may not stay in bloom long (as it is usually at night and short lived). These can actually stay in bloom during the day and for how long?

  • @desertplantsofavalon

    @desertplantsofavalon

    7 жыл бұрын

    Thanks so much for your fantastic comments :-) yes these blooms are short lived and first open up at night but the good news is you usually get another day or two out of them and the blooms are sooooo worth it even if they are short lived :-) these flowers lasted about 3 days in total and looked their best the first day but make such a spectacular show to see :-) thanks a million for watching and sending tons of love and heaps of happy growing galore from Ireland for a magical day today XXXX

    If they hadn't flowered at the same time, would it have been possible to save the pollen from one to pollinate the other at a later time? Like, collect it in little baggies or does pollen deteriorate with time?

    Ok so I acadedetaly pollinated 2 different orchid cactus in my green house. I told u about in some other video. Question is now how red should the little fruit get/ what do I do with the seeds? Dry em, plant em wet?

  • @desertplantsofavalon

    @desertplantsofavalon

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Jason :-D sometimes the fruits stay green, but you will know when they are ready to harvest when they feel soft and spongy to the touch, a bit like a grape, its best to dry the seeds after harvesting from the fruit and also soak them too for an hour before sowing them to remove any traces of the fruit pulp, because any fruit pulp left on the seeds can cause fungus, after soaking them in water to clean them you can then plant them or store them in a dry envelope or baggy until you are ready to sow them, the seeds will keep for a couple of years or more if stored in a cool and dry place, good luck with your seeds and thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful Monday XXXX
