Incredible chapter once again. There's so much variety in this project so far, it's pretty unreal. I love love love how it uses so much of the same flavour and texture that GRRM does in ASOIAF. In the last chapter we saw the fixation with history, of characters looking at the legends and stories of the past, tinged with nostalgia and wonder at the events and figures of worlds that once existed. And in this one we see something similar, but different, in how nature and the physical world works. Thinking of the fantastical mundanities of flora and fauna, the mysteries of scientific discovering and the passion of deepening our understanding. The details about the Wall and the Citadel, particularly the ancient tree root, going hand in hand with the emotional story-telling of our present characters. Jon's empathetic and very human struggles supporting and being seemlessly interwoven with the political story of the larger work, and the magical story beyond that. And again the detail of the prose continues to amaze me. How even the layout of the first page makes you think about the rest of the story, by seeing key words like Jon, Daenarys, wings, and dragons, which stand out when you're just looking at a first glance and make you connect the story you're reading in this chapter with all of the things we've experienced in the previous books, and before you're given the specific context of who the point of view character is here and where we find ourselves. This is written like a prologue of a long series. Everything just feels right. Even the way Jon thinks about Alleras over and over, with a little too much detail in a way that makes him seem a bit too passionate and obsessed, still rings emotionally true and connects him as a character in the same story as Tyrion, Jaime, Jorah, and so many others of a type that GRRM likes to write. This whole project continues to remain brilliantly authentic. Never thought I'd see fan-fiction of this quality, that could connect with me like this in a way that feels indistinguishable from the novel series I came to love a decade ago.

So what do we think is Preston's plan for Jeyne? I presume she's not getting manticored... is she just going to stay at the Crag with her lordly brother, is her brother Raynald going to reemerge and she'll end up reunited with him, will she get married off to her (probably kinslaying) ship captain cousin after he totally definitely doesn't kill Rollam, is she going to get wrapped up in the messy succession crisis that will eventually unfold at Winterfell? In a world where some people can use glass candles, ravens, dreams, weirwoods, etc. to mess with people's mental state, i would've thought someone would be interested in making it look like Jeyne is pregnant (by killing her maester and getting her to run away super suspiciously - something like that) to sow chaos in the Riverlands and North.

It sounds like the explanation for the seasons has something to do with a combination of plate tectonics (buoyancy of fluids, dragonglass being forced to the surface somehow, possibly iron from the planet's core?) and electromagnetism (lemons, copper, and a zinc ore making a battery of some sort, and the endless river representing a circuit). Like the sun of Planetos (Solos?) emits an electromagnetic field that causes the entire planet to have an erratic axial wobble or something.

Don't the dorthraki have a legend about planetos once having a second moon that cracked open and dragons came out? I think Planetos had a second moon that was hit by a comet/meteor and the debris, which would appear as shooting stars, was interpreted by ancient humans as dragons being born. This is probably what caused long night, as a form of nuclear winter, and the lack of a second moon gives planetos and irregular rotation and irregular seasons

Holy Sphinxes this is INCREDIBLE!! When Preston described his ideas for the chapter, I admit, I had serious doubts. It was way out of left field, and sounded all over the place. But this ended up being the finest chapter of all!!! Everyone who participated deserves the utmost praise. It's better than GRRM, I'm not afraid to say! And through this character and setting you manage to touch upon... Possibly *every single* domain in the story! 🤯👏👏👏👏👏

This was amazing, something I hate about most medieval/medieval inspired media is that they often present the characters as clueless and have never thought about anything deeper than their immediate future or worse idiots, you have brilliantly shown that these are not stupid character and they do think things bigger than themselves i.e. you'd never see someone in this inspired period to understand evaporation only wish this nuance came to more media 10/10

Amazing chapter, really feels like a GrrM prologue imo. One correction, and it's really insignificant, but the ingredients given for the lemon battery shouldn't work. Calamine isn't metallic zink, so the reaction that produces electricity (metallic zink oxidizing and the formation of hydrogen gas) can't happen. Calamine, like most metal ores, is the oxidized form of zink, ZnCO3 or zink silicate.

The exploration into the uneven seasons and the the big weirwood stump were perfect ideas, I loved the characters, loved the political implications, loved the Alleras cameo. As soon as the pale qartheen got off the ship I knew how it would end. My favourite part though, was the tease with the telescope. Great job fellas.
