    I'm beyond grateful with you for taking the time and making this for the people who doesn't know a heck about nodes. I only have one question, how can I make the textures appear?, I mean, i'm using blender 3.0 and I have already appended the noise pack to my project, but I don't know, nothing happens, I plugged the noise pack to the material output node but still nothing, am I missing something?

    You can plug the noise directly into a lot of things. You can plug it in to the color input of a shader but you probably plug it into a color ramp first to give it color. You can plug it into the fac of a mix shader to modulate how to colors or textures mix together. You can use the output for transparency by plugging it into the alpha slot of a shader.

    Great shaders! One question tho, how do you get accurate tessellation on objects without extremely subdivided geometry?

  • @SimonThommes

    @SimonThommes

    5 жыл бұрын

    Micro-Displacement, it is a modifier that actually subdivides the geometry depending on distance to the camera

    "Noise Regular" is perhaps better named "Blue Noise" or "Bandpass Noise", as it has only a narrow band of frequency content. But I'm thinking like a mathematician here :)

    Hi Simon, I bought this pack yesterday from you and if I use the textures for Bump everything works fine but when I activate micro displacement stuff is flying all over the place :-D Could you please make a video on how to achieve the shapes you show in this video on the right side?

  • @SimonThommes

    @SimonThommes

    5 жыл бұрын

    Usually when using micro-displacement you have to adjust the scale value of the Displacement node to your scene. Try tuning that down by a lot.

    Very cool. I love the control but for some reason I can not get the pronounced crackle texture like you have in the top crackle example. The large spikes. I believe i'm using micro-displacement and i have only used a principle BSDF with the bump and displacement (to the material output) but only get a rough looking surface. Any help would be great. Thanks again.

    Hey Simon, I'm starting to learn Blender, and I was hoping to use this mod pack in one of my videos. And I'm wondering if you'd be okay with that. And I'm also wondering if you have any issues with people using this mod pack commercially? And if I or any of my viewers use this mod pack commercially, I'm wondering if you're hoping to be seen be wanting to receive some sort of credit? Ultimately I'm covering all my bases here and talking to you about it because if you want credit, I'll give credit. I'd have to get credit in order to get my subscribers to download this thing and I'd even supply a card in the video leading to THIS video so that people can see more details on what this mod pack does. So, rest assured, in the video I'm thinking of making you'd be getting credit anyhow. I'm just wondering about after the fact. After I'm done with it, are you wanting credit every time I use this feature. At that point, that's where it starts to get more progressively difficult to keep track of which mod goes to which person and etc. I haven't downloaded any mod packs yet, but down the road, as I start getting more familiar with the program, I could see something like this presenting itself as a potential problem and I want to know where you stand.

  • @SimonThommes

    This pack is released under CC0, so you can basically do anything with it without giving credit. My other stuff is released under CC-BY, because I didn't want to commit fully to CC0 for those more specific shaders, yet.
