I’m not sure where we went wrong with screw design… check out he video to see what I found in an old 1980 house! Screws were better then then they are now!
Thanks for watching! :)

You nailed it! OK, OK, but saying that you screwed it doesn't work so well.

I find getting the screw started into the back piece then pulling it out, pushing both pieces tight with your hand and driving it in helps instead of driving the screw itself in until it gets tight. Or pre drill both pieces. Either way though I see your point, it’s a waste of time and you shouldn’t have to do either of those things especially when it comes to building large structures, it’s a waste of time that adds up.

Thanks for the comment and for watching the video! Hopefully a screw manufacturing company can comment and send us in the right direction or start manufacturing screws like they used to. All the best!

Great point! But where are you using screws when framing? I’m curious. Been doing this for over a decade.. a nail gun and a hammer are my best friends. What are u doing to comp for the loss of shear strength that nails provide and screws don’t? Again im genuinely curious not trolling here just tryna learn. Thanks

You are completely correct about nails and nailers and you know it. That being said, temporary shoring walls are all screwed for easy disasembly as well as framing that requires a little more finesse and don’t need the strength I.e shower niche etc etc. Also, often enough in the renovation world, we don’t have nailers out but we always have drills handy. If we have a dozen studs to put up in a non loadbearing wall, we will screw it in. Thanks for the watch and comment! :)

I’m hoping to find out! I haven’t been able to find any common screws that are built this way. Premium manufacturers do make them but they are 10x the price… Thanks Marc! :)
