Thank you for taking a look at my life long collection. I started at 1971 and never stopped. Take a look at every wrestling magazine ever published from 1951 to 1990 on this and all my other deep dive videos..

@@prowrestlingmags What a shame. But a warning to everyone who has a passion for something like we did for pro wrestling in the 70s and 80s. It can be taken away in the blink of an eye. In the case of pro wrestling's destruction all it took was one person with financial means, with a crooked vision, and the ability to bribe and buy tv executives for their airtime. One person's money talked and the rest of us millions balked but eventually we all took a walk. Now 38 years later the McMahon's have their billions, hundreds of wrestlers have died young since 1984 and pro wrestling no longer exists. One greedy person with no morals and lots of money is all it took.

just discovered your channel and i have to say by golly it's amazing! what a collection, i'm a fan of old school wrestling (i'm from england) and i have a very small collection of wrestling mags but some of them are pretty special, i have some old US mags mainly from the 60s and 70s(the ring, wrestling revue, wrestling illustrated) and i have precisely 3 issues of gong from the 70s and 80s, i'm particularly keen on girls wrestling(strictly old school so terri shane, vicki williams, moolah, mildred, mitzi mueller) so most of my mags have a decent female content, buying old mags from the states is prohibitively expensive because of the postal charges(mags themselves aren't cheap either) but every now and then i will buy something, what a great era the golden age was and what a great video this was! the recording was fine and the collection is truly stunning, thank you

@@prowrestlingmags yes world of sport was a general sports programme which broadcast british wrestling through the 50s to the 80s when it was taken off air, the wrestling actually continued for a while after the main show ended, they took it off as it was deemed too downmarket a common moan about grappling which i'm sure you'll agree is utter nonsense, one only has to see how popular wrestling is among the general population, yes, i agree re ring wrestling, the girls coverage was brilliant, i used to have some old UK wrestling mags, we had a title called the wrestler as well in the 60s and 70s, a magazine i'd love to locate is the short lived UK publication women wrestling from the mid to late 70's, i seem to recall a superb cover featuring the legendary vicki williams tussling with a japanese girl! best wishes, i look forward to viewing more of your videos

Yes that is nonsense. I had a few friends from the UK telling be about the censorship there in the 80s, especially when it came to video store rentals. I believe he said they were called the “video nasties”? certain movies were banned and we’re not allowed to be rented for blood or violence. I’m familiar with the British publication of The Wrestler though I don’t own any. But I do have one copy of the Women’s Wrestling magazine that you’re speaking of. I have issue number, it’s buried somewhere in my collection. If I remember correctly, it also covers amateur wrestling for women as well as women’s boxing. I heard it was pretty rare when I grabbed it along time ago.

Was a 3 time national wrestling champion, wrestled for the 1948 Olympic team.

Thank You for sharing your collection with the world. I was born in 1979, so I was introduced to wrestling Like a lot of other Kids my age. Hogan, Savage, Sting, Luger, Road Warriors, like that stuff. I got bit by the bug, and only didnt watch from ages 17- 22, because I really wanted to get laid, and to be an Attitude Era fan, which I thought wwf and wcw nwo stuff was Trashy and Scummy. It for younger peoplethan me at that point. Now, Attitude Era is all people talk about on the Internet, because, millenials are making the videos for the most part. I was trying to party like it was 1999, so I had no time to evplain to a Girfriend why Theres a big fat guy Named Prince Albert, and watching people do the worm, or Old Bikers be Trashbags(what's new, my dad was a biker). But I got back into it in 2002, when I realized, when all the Women are gone, My Dreams of Being a Professional Wrestler will always be With Me. Anyway, Thankz!

Thanks for watching. This ch isn’t for fans of the hulkamania 84 and up Wwf. We are the pissed off fans that had the wrestling we loved turned into a cartoon. That being said all are welcome of course but I don’t show anything of that time period. 60s 70s and early 80s magazines and programs are the only focus on my videos. It’s not a place to come discuss who sucks and what was better, it’s strictly geared around the magazines and what matches were happening at that time period. For some reason the last 5-6 vids have brought in a ton of new views. This ch originally started out as helping collectors complete their wrestling magazine collections by showing magazines from every publication up til 1989! Since then it’s kind of turned into a little bit more, and we have grown. I am not here to gain popularity. I don’t care if somebody clicks “like” I don’t care if somebody “subscribe‘“ I’m not a video guy by any means. All I wanna do now is expose collectors to the different magazine issues, and bring some nostalgia back to some of us all timers who really loved the “sport” of professional wrestling and not the sports entertainment stuff from today. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.

I have mentioned this in some of your previous videos. One of my favorite sections of the Weston Mags was the back issue section. Like you I would spend countless hours looking at those small pics and figuring out which magazines I wanted to get. The more back issues you bought, the more you saved. Wasn't it 10 issues for $10? Also, Ernie Ladd was GOLD on the mic. One of my favorite Ladd quotes is "I would rather go to my mommas funeral than my own funeral."

  • @prowrestlingmags

Yes! I’d stare at the b/w pics of my mag and try to identify the wrestlers in those little tiny pictures. I was usually 7 out of 10 for picking right lol. Bruno Andre superstar Ernie Ladd were all easy to pick out. It was great when I’d actually find the mag or get it in the mail and see it in full color for the first time. You really can’t explain that feeling it’s something you needed to experience and I’m sure you did! I loved Ladd, his outfits the cocky walk n talk. Just great stuff. Today they sound so fucken stupid. Especially the girls. Listening to them is like watching a bad high school play with horrible actors. It’s really embarrassing. And idk what’s going on with these fans in the crowd. They are all mid 30s - 40s douchebag guys that live at home and can’t get a girl. It was more entertaining looking at them then the actual match with all the stupid backflips and gymnastics. It’s a shame because I really want to like it but I just can’t. I can watch New Japan and PCW Ultra, so far the new XPW has had real good shows. Other then that it’s old vids for me.

@@prowrestlingmags Getting those Mags in the mail after waiting for four to six weeks after you ordered them, man it felt like Christmas Day. One of the problems today is the writers behind the scenes. Let the guys talk. Let them develop their character, their persona. The guys deserve to be paid well but back in the day the guys had to talk people into the building for a good pay day. There was no guaranteed money. There was no company plane or bus to go from town to town. You traveled by car, often with others, which helped you learn the tools of the trade. You paid for your hotel. That is one reason guys liked the Florida territory. Home every night and with Dusty headlining almost every card, especially in his prime, there was money to be made. But, they all busted their butts and worked hard.

Where did you hear me say I have a wrestling eye issue with an article that gives “All the insider kayfabe terms”? I don’t remember what video I made a statement about wrestling eye but i never said that! I said Wrestling eye would come very close to the edge with some articles and even break kayfabe at certain times with their stories. Such as using the term booker, angle, gimmick, exposing a wrestlers character, using the wrestler’s real names etc. It wasn’t like Power Slam or WOW that fully broke kayfabe. But Wrestling Eye and New Wave Wrestling Magazine at times had a mix of shoot and kayfabe stories. I can’t speak for all the issues because it’s the one publication I never chose to complete.
