Pro-Sim Lite V2 Sequential Shifter Review

Taming the Pro-Sim Lite V1 shifter with noise reduction designs and components. But still the best sequential shifting experience I have had to date. The beauty of this design is you can make it feel just like the V1 if that's what you want. I pulled all the sound deadening material from the stops, gear tensioner roller, and the claw plate. Felt and sounded just like my V1 shifter to me. But I ended up putting the claw's deadening material back. Did not affect the tactile feedback as far as I can tell, and I preferred to have the tink tink silenced. YMMV.

I've had mine (V2) for some months now and I must say it's worth every euro. It doesn't look nor feel like a PC peripheral, but like it's been taken from a real race car. The tactile response you obtain when you use it is so brutal that it draws a smile on your face with every gear change. It's a pure mechanical feeling. It feels is so radically different, for instance, from a Heusinkveld shifter, that you will end up using it in a very different way, with strenght and totally confident what you will not brake anything no matter how excited you are. Of course, you have to bear in mind the noise. I have no idea if my unit is built with any noise dampening or not, but I must say I'm on a second floor and the people on the first floor can perfectly hear when I'm using my cockpit. Since I race with closed headphones, the problem is gone and I can barely hear it, so the experience of using it is just the tactility of my gear changes. Finally, the only aspect I would criticize from this device is its knob. It's just too small, like made for small children. I have designed and 3D printed a longer and thicker one (10 cm x 3,3 cm), which makes the grip more confident and comfortable. You can download it here: www.alvarezeninternet.com/temp/shifter-knob.stl

Great video, looks like a very realistic feeling shifter, it also looks to have a lot of wear points, be interesting to see how long they last.

I like the sound on the V2 more than on the V1. I have it here and it sounds better in my opinion. Like a fat clunk or thump when you slam the gears - really awesome. Both are great and this shifter is the best seq i have had in my hands.

Can you say if there's any unwanted sideways movement or wooble in the shaft? Do you think the friction between all the internal parts will lead to premature wear (something to care about after spending that much money). Also, can you compare it to the shifter my Manu-factory, if you ever had the chance to try it? Thank you and congratulations for your great reviews.

I understand they both offer a different feeling and approach to the mechanics of the shift, but what is your personal preference between this Pro Sim and the SimWorx Pro Series Sequential Shifter you reviewed at the end of 2018? I am thinking it is time to upgrade from the Heusinkveld Shifter to something with a firmer tactile response.

Barry, first off thank you for your reviews which are very technical! Your shifter knob in the extension part of the shifter, is it 3” or 6”? Can you post a link to where you got it, I’ve looked and have not seen anything long like this. I been looking in carbon fiber and aluminum. Thank you.

Barry, it would be interesting to hear what it would be like if you lined the interior of version 1 with sound deadening insulation. That way you could retain all the tactile feedback and it should be quieter.

I was going to say the tactile feel would be affected with the dampening of the noise. I think I like the V1 better than the V2. Thanks for the review of both versions.

I have actually done that. It does tame the high pitched chinking noise. You can try different thicknesses of rubber washers to dial in the amount of noise you want. Within limits of course.

Sim Racing Garage he uses the Hpp prx pedals, I will say I have not heeled to toe yet, but he makes it look easy, and I am sure it takes many hours to get comfortable. Probably use auto blip as I race till I get some time in on practices with the heel to toe method.

Ive done the same barry, removed the silicone type rubber over the bars for the claw stop, then the foam tape over the nuts. When i removed the rubber washer where the claw slaps back i had issues with the claw sometimes jamming. So i used a metal washer instead of the rubber one
