Before I do it I’m gonna pull up the next three mannequins and make sure it works on the so I don’t go into my in hair and fail miserable

I was in bed. This showed up in my feed, I got up, wet my hair and cut it and was back in bed in less than ten minutes. 8 inches gone and it looks so good 😂 I can't stop laughing at how easy this was THANKS BRAD❤

Thank you Brad, I am in my 60's. Did this haircut on myself. I cut 16 inches of my hair, had to use a tape measure it was to long for a ruler! I don’t know if Brad reads these comments, but if you do, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m a 56 year old woman with a very long history of horror stories with stylists. From fried perm hair to my favorite stylist going to prison. My current stylist is not working due to injury. I also have very fine, stick straight hair that is thinning due to previous health problems and my age. Every stylist has told me no you can’t do layers. Well after almost a year without a cut, I thought screw it, I’m doing this. It’s fabulous. For the first time in a long time, I feel pretty. I feel confident wearing my hair down. You just don’t know what it does to your confidence when your hair is something you hate and can’t manage. I love it. My husband loves it. I feel pretty for the first time in a very long time. Thank you again.

Same! I just spent $200 at my salon for some babylights and this cut… but I came away with shy little layers that you couldn’t even see. So! I followed this incredible tutorial and now I have the gorgeous, swingy, voluminous layers I always wanted!! ❤🎉 Gorgeous haircut. I’m 69 with fine but wavy hair. I tried the butterfly cut after watching the video and was thoroughly pleased … the best hair cut ever. Hairdressers in the past always did one side poorly whereas the cut I gave myself was fantastic. My hair is at its very best and looks thicker and healthier thanks to the video 👏🏻👏🏻

i have pretty curly hair and i did this. it turned out lovely and my hair is so much healthier since i cut off the dead ends. iv been growing my hair out now for like almost two years and i love that it didnt make my hair too much shorter bc i am loving my long hair! tutorial 100/10

@@gabrielahouser6736hi! sorry i don't have curly hair, but i do have wavy hair. i got this haircut about a year ago. my hair generally doesn't get frizzy with it as i always put in a leave-in and oil when it's wet. i have been growing out my hair for a long time, so i didn't cut much off the back as well. it does take a long time to style if i'm honest, so i usually prolong my washes. it takes me about 30 mins to an hour starting with at least 70% dry hair. if you would like to wear your hair naturally, it looks really cute. sorry i couldn't have been better help

@@gabrielahouser6736as person with frizzy+curly hair ,my recommendation is not to get it, [but get it if u have time straightening and styling it] cuz u hair may look good right after the haircut or straightening,but in general,the the side bangs will look messy (very frizzy )and curl up to the top

I actually did this, it came out so pretty! I have shoulder length hair, so I barely cut off an inch but it gave me some layers and worked as a trim. Remember! If you want this to work, do it exactly as Brad does

I have lupus (among other things 🙄) which has progressed alot this year. He has videos on lupus specifically. He and other doctors in his sphere have literally saved my life and freed me from years of debilitating pain and many health problems. What is your hair type? I’m trying to determine if this is a good cut for me. I have a lot of hair, but it’s very fine.

Turned out just great! EVERY hairdresser has told me so far that my straight fine hair needed a blunt cut and layers would make it appear thin, so my only chance to try it out was to do it myself. And after this cut, it “lost weight” and gained volume. Thanks so much for this content and really clear instructions!

I just wanted to let you know that you are awesome! Your instructions are clear and easy to follow! I am 48 years old and I do not know how to cut hair. I am also blind. Even so, I figured I would save some money and do it myself because even if I messed up, I can't see it anyway. I followed your tutorial and it is hand's down the best haircut I have ever had ( my husband said so).

Goddammit Brad, you dropped a video RIGHT when I got out of the shower, with wet hair. And this haircut is exactly what I want. DAMMIT BRAD NOW I HAVE TO IMPULSIVELY TRY IT Update: remarkably hard if you have thick hair. I recommend 3 sections, not 2. I have a bit of a shelf-situation in the back of my head. Great for face-framing layers though.

Two ponytails and cut. Could not be easier.

I cannot express how much I appreciate this video. My hair has never looked so good! It’s literally two snips and my curls are so happy! And since I wear my hair short now, this cut frames my face and gives me perfect curtain bangs!! It takes me 5 minutes to accomplish a look that would take a salon stylist 30mins+ and $100 to accomplish. My only complaint is that I don’t have a Time Machine to be able to show this video to my teen-self. 25 years and I finally LOVE my hair ❤❤❤

Because of you, Brad, I just did something I haven’t done since my 30’s…I walked into my bathroom at 1am, grabbed the hair scissors, comb and elastic, and lopped off my way too long hair. I was debating the wolf cut, but when I saw this I knew it was what I wanted. I love it!

My daughter did this for me. Not only did it turn out AMAZING, it also gave my daughter and I some great bonding time (The "liquid courage" we indulged in beforehand didn't hurt either!) Right now I have layers but not this much and I need a trim so might do this tomorrow when I trim it. I have fine 2C/3A textured hair naturally, medium density, high porosity. Yep, from the start of the video I totally thought this was "The Rachel", but a softer version. the 90's has come back with a vengeance.

This is actually the haircut I've been doing for myself since I was a child, and kept getting compliments on. Because I did not know how to do it efficiently, it took me hours every time and made my hands feel like they are about to fall off. The very few times I was too lazy to do it myself and went to a hair dresser, I left disappointed. No one managed to do what I described, not even close. Now I can finally actually do it easily thanks to you! You are awesome Brad!

Same story as you but me it was the wolf cut , it took hour to do it , when I saw his tuto it saved my time

I’ve used this video twice to cut my own hair. I keep my hair long, so the first time I only took off 4-5 inches off the back, and the latest time I cut of 8-9 inches off the back. Everyone is shocked that I did it myself because it looks so good, so I always tell them it’s thanks to Brad Mondo! By the way, the trick to doing the back pony without having to over work your arms is to stand up, bend over like you’re going to touch your toes, then let gravity do the heavy lifting while you comb out the bumps and put in the ponytail. I wear my long hair in a top of the head bun when I work so I can fit it under my chef hat, and that trick helps my arms not hate me!

I have extremely thick hair and always loved that chunky/wild look that she has at the end of Tangled. So what I did one time was this butterfly cut, but I went about an inch and a half forward on the bang ponytail, (so a little forward from the very top of my head), and then instead of doing one ponytail in the back I broke it up into even sections of five seperate ponytails. It turned out AMAZING in the back, and it's been one of my favourite cuts ever since. Especially if you go shorter like to the end of your ears; it makes a cute longer pixie style that you can totally spice up fo a punk rock look!

As a retired stylist I love watching your vids. You bring me the latest trends which helps me keep up with things. If I took a class it would be a couple hours of time wasted and I can easily expand on the cut if I chose too . It gets my creative side stimulated.

What do I do? I have beautiful thick hair. I’m now aging. But my career expects me to wear a hat and have been used to having it up due to sports growing up. Down is still beautiful. But I do not know how to do it. So a tie up again is what I do. 😕 I know it can be beautiful. But do not know what to do. 😭

@@shy_blue1546 what I would suggest is find a stylist you trust. Have her evaluate your hair. Tell her what you needs and want are. Bring the hat along also. Whether you want different ways to wear it up or a cut that is simple to care for and works with the hat. Be sure she is aware that you want her to teach you how to style it .

Especially the front pieces x I have had it the same for so long and I have no curly hairdresser specialists near me or even not! @@lisasmith8484 it would work with curly hair. It would give it a different shape and with a few modufication look really cute. Of course you have to make some adjustments for the curl in your hair. It won't look like the picture cause of the curl in your hair bit it could be really cut.

I'm 68 years old. I just cut my hair according to your instructions. I dried and styled it. Then I got a feeling of Deja Vu. I've worn this style before. Then I looked through my photo album. It's the hairstyle I wore in the late 1970! It's the big Farrah Fawcett Majors hairstyle! I love it! Since I'm getting old and my hair looks thinner and lifeless, this is the perfect hairstyle for me. My hair looks so full, healthy and so youthful. It's the style I have been looking for. ​@@helli_missyblow drying always gives that extra bounce, but you can get a dryer brush which takes 10 mins and gives a nice effect

I’ve been wearing layers for 20+ years. I already got lectured by my 19 y/o daughter two years ago: “mom, no one wears layers anymore” so I grew it out long and eventually went back to layers and bam! Back in style 😎 and my daughter got layers, too. I said “ooooh, but no one has layers anymore” and we had a good laugh

@@MissMausoleum Same. I'll never go to the salon again. I have thick hair, that's naturally kinda curly/wavy, so I've always had my hair layered. It's never been layered to my satisfaction, until now. I love that I can now cut my own hair, to my satisfaction. I wish I could see everyone's hair after this tutorial!💕

When I tell you to do this I MEAN IT. I have a round face and I didn’t see many people do this with a round face but I decided to just do it. IT LOOKS SOO GOOD. I am so happy I did it, it give my hair so much body and volume. If you’re thinking about it then just do it. Trust me if you do all the steps correct you be so happy with your results. I also have wavy hair that is a little more on the thick side and usually a little bit weighed down.

Followed this today and so impressed with the results, two big cuts and a tiny bit of blending! Absolutely love it and not only was it free but took a fraction of the time a salon visit would take!

I saw the butterfly cut on Pinterest and I said, “I’m gonna wait till Brad comes out with a how to.” THIS IS MY SIGN FOR A CHANGE BABY! Thanks so much for sharing and being awesome. Last cut I did was the shag from your tutorial and curtain bangs and I loved how my hair turned out. You’re the best. Thanks! Update: I cut it exactly as instructed only I went a bit shorter and ended up with the Rachel cut! I’ve gotten so many compliments on it! Thank you Brad! ❤️

Would love to see hair do for very fine or thinning hair. Or even for people with bald patches like my mom. I have no clue what to do with mine.

I've used this video twice now and both times has worked well for me. I'm almost 50, have thinning hair (probably from all of the different 80's/90's hair trends I did😅) & now a preschool teacher with a small homestead. I've been let down by local hair salons & doing it myself again. Love it! Not a whole lot a maintenance, which I love, makes my hair fuller when styled and I've gotten compliments on how great it looks on my face. Thank you!

Brad, I just did this style on my short hair and omg I LOVE IT!! I left the parts that didn't/couldn't reach into a ponytail alone and concentrated on the ones that could and surprisingly, everything blended together. Gave my bangs a little trim and done in less than 15 minutes! Super impressed!!

Have long curly mid back length hair. Followed the directions, styled, and came out gorgeous! Husband’s jaw dropped and that says a lot. He normally doesn’t notice these things. And I was wearing sweatpants and a holey t-shirt. I cut off 10 inches and it’s still long. Looks great curly or flat-ironed/soft waves.

This is giving “The Rachel” cut, and I’m obsessed

I followed your directions exactly, I even rewet my hair before each cutting... I took a little over 6 inches off. I was scared & crying because I have thin hair... But that was very cleansing for me, like cutting off the painful past so I can grow into a new future. It turned out looking very nice, the layers all connected perfectly, and now it will have a nicer look to it as I continue to grow it out. Thank you Brad for giving me a way to have a fresh look to continue in healing my broken heart.

I’ve done this cut following every step successfully. A few times since then I’ve re-done the back half of my hair as the front has grown out. It’s been great for keeping it cleaned up while growing out the butterfly layers.

BRAD MONDO!!!! So I followed your instructions. I said a little prayer before parting the apex, then off to the races. Ok, so let me back up. 1. I have Alopecia and I have little hair. 2. I have bald spots and normally comb my hair to cover them. 3. I hate not having volume, I refuse to wear a wig. Ok.... Long story, short.... I cut it and I LOVE IT! I cut 3" off and trimmed where needed. The layers are still long and I HAVE VOLUME! THANK YOU! 😢😊

I just cut my hair using your Butterfly cut. I'm 66 and simply not all that screen-worthy anymore but I wanted to say I lost 10 years after cutting my hair like this. I love it!! Thank you! I'd love to see you do a "what happens if" video so we can see why you pull the front lock down and forward and why you pull the back one up and forward and what happens if you don't. I think it would give us an even better idea of why it's crucial to do it just like you tell us to. Thank you so much for this. My hair is really thick, and it was getting really long. I just did this haircut for the second time & it came out stunning the first time. This time I experimented a tiny bit & pulled too much hair to the front (bc I wanted to thin out my hair more) however it gave me too many short layers in the back of my head. To get a nice blend of layers, divide the hair exactly as he said lol. Now I will likely have to cut all of my hair shorter to blend it. I wonder if there’s a way to do 3 sections, but the two sections is easy & beautiful. Thank you Brad!

Curly hair is the best hair for layers! It’s the most forgiving of them too! I wouldn’t put that much of a space in between the longest layer and the shortest one, but I think it would look great. You can experiment by pulling your hair up into a little ponytail on top of your head and just see what the result is on the sides, and also try searching the terms “curly hair layered cut” or something like that I am sure it’ll look great tho! ❤

I did this cut on Friday. Everyone who saw it on Saturday loved it. I even have 3 friends going to do it. It turned out so pretty. Best haircut I have had in year’s.

it's the day before christmas, i went to the hairdresser's a few weeks ago in the hopes of getting a tooonnn of layers on my (very short, above shoulder) wolf cut, and came back with pretty much the same hair i went in with... it wasn't bad, it just didn't have the oomph i was hoping for.. impulsivly just cut my own hair following this tutorial and the wolfcut one, being sure to be super cautious and not take too much off, and i LOVE IT SO MUCH!! its the first time i've EVER cut my hair at home, and with christmas tomorrow (meaning family events and stuff) i was really hoping not to mess it up, and now I have the perfect layered voluminous haircut!! all the tips in both of these videos were amazing, thank you so much :)

Hi love, I'm not sure your exact texture or thickness... but I have done cuts like this on myself throughout the years... this is literally the Rachel cut, I'm sure my age is showing with that lol. I'm 2C/3A textured naturally, fine hair, medium density, high porosity... this cut brings my waves/curls to life! The key depending on your texture is to not cut your layers in the front or back too short, I find cheekbone length for my shortest layer is perfect for me after the shrinkage. If you are 3B+ you might have to go longer with anticipated shrinkage. If you have coarse or more thick hair, do like he says and use thinning sheers. I would suggest finding a curly hair stylist in your area and showing the cut and asking them to help... but I haven't found a hair stylist that hasn't messed my hair up and I end up fixing their mistakes. I've been doing my own hair for over 18 years. I cut, bleach, tone, dye, style, everything myself.

I have 3c curly hair and did this while it was straightened, then curled it and looks fantastic, thank you Brad!!

It's my first time doing a butterfly cut! I followed every step of the video on my tablet. Afterwards, I discovered my thick hair is not straight but actually very wavy with curls at the front. All these years I've been brushing out the waves and never knew. UPDATE: Some of the curls that framed my face were cut off at odd angles. I don't know if I'd do this again for myself because it doesn't take curls into account. It's a really good cut if you don't have this problem, but you may find yourself snipping some areas to correct them. I'm hoping my hair grows out so that I can fix the front.

​@@honeyowen3163 Yes, I clipped the front first, then used that cut piece of hair like a ruler to measure how much to cut from the back. I kept taking out my front ponytail, observing the length, ponytail it, measure cut again. I stopped when the shortest layer in front reached my chin for face-framing.

@@honeyowen3163 Brad says to clip off the same amount from the front and the back. That is what I did. If you start with hair that's longer in the back than the front, take into consideration how short you're making the front.

First time in my lifetime that I cut my hair myself. It worked soooo good on my wavy hair ! I was cautious and did not 4 inches but it turned out good as well. I had so much bad experiences with hairdressers who took a fortune and I was not happy afterwards. This time I paid nothing and it turned out as the best haircut I ever had 😂 Update: I am still very happy with the cut and planning to grow my hair long, but with this cut. So I think I will cut it always like the first ponytail is not shorter than chin length.
