Next week I'm headed to a salon to have a full blown babylight added and tones with silver/gray to let my natural grow out. Ughh...I'm ready but scared lol!!! Brad idk how to thank you for this. You can't possibly know how much this means to me. My mom is a hairdresser who doesn't care about our (me and my sibs) hair bc we don't pay her. The last time she cut my hair, she ignored what i wanted and messed up my hair so bad that i was crying in her chair. I hated it. She told me that she'd never do my hair again and I'm not allowed to go to anyone else. It's been a year of waiting for it to grow out. As a gender queer person, the long hair was killing me. I watched this tutorial and just cut my hair. And even completely unstyled, I'm in tears over how much better I feel. Thank you. That's all I can say. Thank you ❤

I did this cut on her today and her hair feels and looks so much better! So we both owe you a massive debt of gratitude as she still has decent length to her hair but the dead is more or less gone and, because it went well, she's not mad at me for cutting off about 7 inches of hair 😂 so thank you Brad Mondo, saviour of hair and sisterly relationships 😂

As someone who has thick hair that fluctuates between wavy and soft curly depending on length (aka due to the weight of my hair) but still ended up with the most undermost layer flat, this hairstyle is prob the best one I have had yet. I have struggled with the weight of my hair straightening out my soft curls but when having it too short (to get the curls back) would cause crazy amount of frizz and maintenance for preference. This hair cut has allowed each of my layers to curl or twist in fun directions INCLUDING THE UNDERMOST LAYER! Can’t thank Brad enough for the help and saving me money from having to go to a curly/ wavy specialist to get it done! A couple of things for people who may have this kind of hair: 1) I followed all the steps up until I got to doing the bangs. Again, hair is thick so the length was too long for my liking (due to soft curls overweighed down) and decided to do the another method where you pull it all up into a “unicorn” ponytail (idk the actual method). 2) I wasn’t able to brush my hair using the comb recommended and used my own flexible bristle brush-it worked just fine 3) When making the cuts off the pony tails, your scissors wont be able to easily cut all the hair as easily as shown with example (due to being more than hair and wider diameter of hair) and will flatten the ponytail out to where you may struggle to spread it all flat. I’d recommend to try to keep as straight as possible while without flattening it and mainly cutting through it using the inner part of the scissors then going back until even-ish cut 4) try to keep wetting your hair to keep it as straight as possible, but don’t worry about the cuts being “perfect”. Essentially the locks will start to curl on their own and separate into their different level of kinks and directions, so a slightly uneven cut won’t be as obvious when it dries compared to example that has straighter & finer hair Hope this helps anyone who has had this struggle and may be contemplating it :)

She barely put any layers in and kept saying she didnt want me to not like it even though I repeatedly kept saying it was fine and not the end of the world if I didnt like it bc my hair grows fast and would be grown out in a few months anyways. I always have problems with hair dressers not doing what I ask them to. One time I wanted silver-blue and she gave me ash blonde bc "you sound like you live in a conservative area and I dont want you to regret doing it" like that is MY decision and I told you what to do multiple times. Cost me $160 to get some blonde hair that looked like my natural hair color but in summer when its lightened a bit. Needless to say I havent gone back to her. I just did it, your tutorial is amazing. Thank you ! For those who want to try : It’s very easy and if you follow the directions meticulously, you can’t messy it up. I use a water spray to wet my hair at the end of the process because my hair started to dry, big help. You’ll probably need some help during the second part (the « front » curtain bang) the right is easy if you are right handed, but the left side is really treacky. I call my men to do it. Sorry bad english 🙏🏻

I just did this cut: I’ve done a lot of ponytail cuts on myself over the years, because my super thick hair often gets butchered by hair dressers, and this positioning is the best- You want the ponytail lined up on your head with your ears, basically. I have… a lot of hair, and it takes so long for me to get it all unlumpified for the ponytail, but it’s worth it. This cut turned out well, but I added a layer- I like angling around the crown in the back, so I like to take a thin section on top, comb it forward, and point cut/thin it out just below the brows. It gives you a pretty, textured layer about ear level in the back. Give it a shot!

Since it's 2:00am and I have to get up at 6:00, I'll give it a try tomorrow. LOL I'm glad you commented, so I know that's the strategy for thicker hair!!

@@DivaInTheWoods I have an update: there’s another KZreadr who does the two cut “wolf cut” and I use that in conjunction with this- it’s a pony tail at the back of the head, along with the top, that provides more layering in the back. I watched the video and immediately, went and cut my hair (with hair shears lol). I have naturally curly hair. It's thin but there's a lot of it and so much frizz! I'm in love with these layers! No more mushroom head! P.S. I did it in two takes because I didn't want to go crazy and regret it. So I only cut about 2 inches each time. It never touched the length, just gave me layers upon layers that are all perfect. Thank you, Brad!

When people ask why I cut my own hair I always say “I’m always vaguely disappointed in my haircut, might as well be vaguely disappointed for free” 😆 My hair is on the borderline between wavy and curly texture so it’s hard to get right, but its got enough texture to hide imperfections.

I have so much to add to this but had to cut my comment bc it’s a therapy note tbh about my forced salon trauma LMAO and taking back my hair and letting it get insane to take pride in doing full out weaves, double process, balayage, and everything in between. Ok I’ll update u guys I’m happy others agree though Been working out salon product induced matting and lost 2/3 of my hair HAHAHA since November….just bc I had a few knots and my mom had to step in and got product for me probs bc she bitched about my hair at her thousand dollar hair appts… Love this for us. I had an almost waist length straight shag in the seventies. It took forever (years) for all of my hair to be middle of my back same length. I swore I'd never have a shag again but your video makes it tempting. My hair texture has really changed as I've aged, now it is gray and much more wild, it used to be shiny, slippery and super straight. I might try this, if I mess it up it's OK slot of people still have bad home Covid cuts, lol. If you're going to accidently F up your hair, now is still a good time, a lot of bad lockdown hair is still out there.
