Prince’s career took off chiefly because of his affinity for blending genres, ideas, and taboos. His musical ability was bolstered by incredible songwriting. When you look at the songs individually it becomes “crystal” 😂 clear that Prince embodied his world as If It were a Fellini film. Prince was his own director he cast himself, always as the misunderstood hero. The female lead was always gorgeous.
Vanity: Prince was only 21 when he first saw her.
At only 21, she caught Prince’s eye. The pop icon then had no shadow of a doubt about the young woman’s potential and decided to take her under his wing. The singer was propelled to the front of the stage and became the group Vanity 6. Two hours later and a huge hit, “Nasty Girl,” released in 1984, she embarked on a solo career. She released two albums, “Wild Animal” in 1984 and “Skin on Skin” in 1986. She also starred in a few films in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including “The Last Dragon” and “52 Pick-Up.”
Kim Basinger: She was so in love with the Prince in 1989 - a year before meeting her future hubby Alec Baldwin - that she gave up Hollywood and moved to Prince’s hometown of Minneapolis to be with him.
But before she left, she made a never-released album with Prince, Hollywood Affair, including Color of Sex, on which she raps “I’ll be your slave” and “I like the way you make me feel.” And Prince released a 12-inch extended mix of Scandalous, called Scandalous Sex Suite, which allegedly included the sounds of him and Kim actually trysting in the studio.

Sure, there's a connection he has with Vanity, that will always be legendary. Timeless. But after she left, he didn't seem to give it a second thought. Susanna though. He kept people - women in particular - in the cycle - idolize (lots of love-bombing), devalue (reducing worth), discard (shelving them until he wanted them again). NO one else has ever done that. Yes he used women for their styles and vocal lessons but he believed he gave back to them. Most of the women used prince to become KNOWN. So it worked out for them. And this is what we have access to! You know it's really messed up how, more or less, we have something we want we go after pretty easy and something we want we undermine being able to get. Can we turn it around? Probably but it's unlikely before we cause a lot of fallout that will take extra work to overcome. I'm not a Prince sycophant. I really believe we have to love people as a whole, and if you do, you don't cheer them on in their own self-destruction. He wanted love and a family. It was obvious even from his choice of position in his music career and the way he fraternized with his acts. However, he seemed uncomfortable with real intimacy and it's mundanity, uncontrollable and dangerous nature. So he has a lot of approach avoidance repetition in relationships not designated as flings. So he chooses pleasure over happiness in the end. They aren't the same. He then objectifies people by putting them on and off a shelf. He didn't allow himself to learn how to sustain a long-term relationship. This man died alone apparently and that wasn't necessary. He could have had people looking out for him if he let them be close enough. He could have had that if he let go of some of his fears causing a need for control. It's tough for men with the b.s. you guys are told is cool or unacceptable. It makes you neglect the skills you need to satisfy needs that will never go away and overemphasize habits that detract from meeting those same needs. But I just get sad when I think about his path for too long. He had so much and I'm sure someone out of the many could have stood the test of time. Everything is fun and games until it isn't and your suffering. But I'm waiting for part 2. The way you splice these interviews together almost makes it like a conversation I haven't heard before.

The was already famous by the time he started showing he really was interested making a family! This is fatalistic and really dismissive in the sense people just don't want to think about it. We can't sooth ourselves, saying if we had done better we would be worse off... Also I'm sorry but if he wasn't famous he would NEVER have been nothing or a nobody. He was special to those who did know him as much as allowed. He was super prolific and talented. Whether it was influenced by negative aspects of his emotional background, that was only a facet. He needed to do the ugly and painful stuff in his intimate life to get what he wanted. That work we'd only have known was done by evidence of him final achieving his dream of a stable family life. The only reason we can see he fell short is, in part, a video like this. I think he deserved it and someone deserved to get to share that with him. To be special he didn't need to be an avatar for men to vicariously live the fantasy they are told is joy, but is antithetical to it. I didn't know him but I've seen the proverbial blood so I know there was a wound. He needed to take care of himself in this area more. Prince married and with children at his middle age would have brought a whole new element to his life and music. You made it more sad by making it an unrealistic dichotomy. It's not. He definitely could have walked and chewed gum. We saw emotional intelligence but it wasn't lived to it's full potential here. ✌️🙏

Well he did marry twice and marries don’t always work, ppl get so consumed with his decisions during his 20s. Anyone can die alone, marriage doesn’t guarantee that, it was accidental, it wasn’t like he was in the hospital for days and no one came. I believe God and his angels were with him, that’s more than enough. And he was found within a day, people truly alone aren’t found or discovered within hours, his girlfriend was with him days before. Also he surrounded by women mostly infatuated with him, not being loved well as a child by both his parents, can make attachment and picking women that mean you well hard,

Mayte being in a more similar position said she was getting paid not enough to eat right but she just went with it. I mean I could see it slipping through the cracks but not as a pattern. Vanity said she only needed one person to love and Prince needed more. But it's like being a glutton versus a gourmand, one doesn't really taste the food but just shovels it in and the other savours the morsels. He was just shoveling it in baby! Then not paying you right...fine-ness and all that talent can only cover so much pain.

I wonder how many of those women Prince would say he wasn’t their man like Shelia, believe Jill would be one, think a lot of women attached themselves to him. Shelia made herself useful to him in his band and Jill did by doing background vocals. Jill was in NY, going to school, think he was helping her let go. We are hearing their thoughts on the relationship/fling, wonder if he thought the same of them or how they are trying to make it seem. Would be nice also hear about Kim Upsher and Susan Moonsie, they were his first few girlfriends before Vanity, and also Shelia E view. I bet Prince would be like I thought I left these women in the 80s, I didn’t marry them, it was an open relationship/fling ,move on lol. They honestly are the only women doing all the talking, most others aren’t and probably had deeper relationships but respecting his privacy I like to hope he changed once married and got more spiritual, probably his second wife
