This book was an amazing read! I do hope Mayte' will do more writing, she's a very talented author, along with her other many talents. Some observers have never given her a break. Simply because she was the love of Prince's life. Yes, he was married to his music but he described her as representing music to him. Together they gave fans beautiful music and performances. It's sad what tore them apart, but it's still a beautiful love story. I'm glad she shared what she did in this book, but I feel there was so much more she could have said but chose not to, out of love & respect for him. 💜

It trips me out how fans want to discredit her. She was married to the man. Fans only knew him through his music. Prince was not as nice as we would like to believe. He ruined a lot of friendships. He pushed people away due his childhood trauma, which was caused by his tumultuous relationship with his father. The man died alone in an elevator. He couldn't have been that nice. After his passing, the many ex band members and proteges said they had not talked to him in years. He never learned how to value and nurture relationships.

Regardless of where he died it was still sad nonetheless. I love listening to his music. Yes I am a 80s baby; therefore, purple rain came out when I was still a baby. I'm just now reading a little bit upon him and his ex. They seemed to be really close and I believe that he was really into her. I don't know why they divorced but some seen to think that she was just a golddigger. I don't know how true that is.

I loved the book and appreciate the way she told their story!

She's seriously messed up, and I fault her parents for it. No way in hell would I have let my 16 year old daughter get involved with such an older man. IDGAF who he was or how much money he had. My child's run at life is invaluable. He ended up dumping her anyway, and she had no clue what to do with herself. I believe she would have been a much more whole person had she never gotten involved with Prince. I was living in Minneapolis during their dating years and marriage. Everyone knew she had no access to any money or credit in her own name. She admitted years ago that she was never allowed to contact him. She had to wait for him to summon her. Like in the biblical days. She was trapped. When their baby died, it was another fiasco, because of his penchant for privacy. It bordered on unhealthy secrecy. The police had to get involved due to the false names used on the birth and death certificate. They even went on Oprah and lied about it. Mayte had no say in anything, right down to grieving for her child, and it did a lot of damage. I hope this book gave her a change to finally grieve her son without hiding.

tracy moonlight I agree about the money part, but what you said about the wedding and the pregnancy isn’t true. News of the wedding planning leaked to the press months before the Valentine’s Day ceremony. The baby was so sick that he was born one month premature. They obviously decided to have kids immediately.

Prince and Vanity/ Denise we/ are meant to be and they are she died February he died in April they were both 57 that was his true love and there are so many songs about her these women put up with Prince cheating on them or pretended like they didn't know vanity /Denise wouldn't have any part of it so she left Prince she left Prince!

I really, really would like to hear Prince's version of the events. Until that happens, never, I do not believe anything. Not the wives, not the siblings, no one. Ms Garcia had the chance to dance on stages most of us never can do. Prince waited for her for years, she did a CD with Prince, I'm sure she never could do this without him. He loved him, anyone can see it in his eyes and how he looked at her. She and her mother just should shut up. Her mother's comment on how she would like to kill Prince, just like if he was an insect, stamp into the ground.

I never understood why he didn't have a child with her second wife. Because his ex second wife has a children now (with Halle Berry's ex husband), so maybe it's him who couldn't have?! He was so private we would never know. But I think he wasn't in love with his 2nd wife as he was with Mayte- and I am glad that after all the horror with baby (if Prince wasn't Jehowah's witness and believed a science too, she could maybe have biological kid with someone else after they divorced), at least she became mother after all and she is happy now. However I don't like the fact a lot of women in Prince's circle are ,,speaking out'' AFTER his death (why not before?!), but I do feel enormously sorry for what happened to them with the baby; if that happened to anybody in the world, it's real tragedy.

I have seen many interviews with Mayte and I believe she is a genuine good person. I really would like to ask her what was the problem with them trying to have another child. It seems every interview I have ever seen that was not totally explained, was there some problem then with just giving it another go, or did Prince just shut down, I really just would like to understand, if that is not being too in the business...I know Prince tried to be private about what ever he wanted to be private about...just wondering is all....

Prince gave up. I don't think he believed she could have healthy babies after Losing two. I don't know why he grew to dislike her so much after they split up, but it was apparent that he wanted nothing to do with her. That's sad as it was clear he once loved her a great deal.

What does drugs have to do with him getting her pregnant it is a birth defect it's in your DNA and one of them is a carrier and most likely it' was Prince because his second wife supposably had a miscarriage I believe this time- she was tested because he didn't allow Meyta to go to the doctors because he was a Jehovah Witness and then a 7 Day Adventist then he became a born-again Christian which is the only way to get to heaven is through the Son Jesus Christ , and the type that he has there's nothing that they can do about it so I believe they terminated the pregnancy and she terminated their marriage because she wanted to be a mother and she couldn't be with Prince.
