I have just read the book last night. The loss of yourr son made me cry, also the loss of the second pregnancy, verý sad, I live in Switzerland and English is not ny mother tongue, but I read it almost in one stroke. What I do not understand is the hatred of some people commenting here. I am sorry to read about your MS diagnosis, but glad you got your daughter Gia. It was a good thing to write that book, do not let people talk you into the opposite. I wish you a lot of courage, health to fight your sickness and happiness to continue your further life with your lovely Gia. A hug through the air.

The haters are just jelous. Always the story. Woman can be viscous to eachother sadly. I've seen so much of it since Prince passed. Truly sad to see and most of these woman would have never said what they do.. had he been alive to read it all. Prince wasn't about hate. He was very wise. What a brave and profoundly beautiful woman. Prince was lucky to have her in his life.

Mayte I wish you heaven... I am a looong time Prince fan (friend :)) and I am grateful that she gave those who loved him, glimpses of him in a positive light. I remember the Prince&Mayte days and IMO some of his best love songs came from that era. He was in love! I appreciate that she did not defame or mock his name for a few dollars like some would. Some are asking..well why did she wait till he died? I believe in her grief, she wrote a tribute to the love of her life. Yes, she'll make some coins but I wish people would see past the financial aspect of that and realize that alot of fans are hurting/grieving for a man that touched their lives for so long. I know I am. It seems that it was her hope and intention that in people reading about their love story, they could find more peace about his transition ..like writing this book probably did for her.

I feel Mayte's book made me feel the human side of Prince, the side we fans could not know. And I feel a peace/ piece of closure. The 2 were friends first. And how their worlds merged was destiny. No other way to describe it! And hey, people change with time. But the memories they experienced were real. And that is a piece of history that will never change. She said Prince wouldn't want us to mourn. I think I can wipe my tears and smile now when I hear a Prince song, b/c her words are cathartic. Thank you, Mayte❣

It was a very well written book and a very beautiful love story. She really humanized Prince.

I just finished the book and its awesome! It's an extremely personal and a very romantic book. This book is about her life and her experience of life with Prince from HER perspective. She writes about her early family life and her experience as a young girl growing up who became a Prince fan and then later to the excitement of possibly becoming a potential employee of Prince as a dancer and then meeting Prince and the development of a friendship and a budding romance. She writes about every phase of their relationship from the beginning when they first met while Prince was still on and off with Carmen Electra. She writes about getting to know Prince and shares many letters Prince wrote to her. Everything leading up to his marriage proposal, their wedding day and how incredibly happy they were when she discovered she was pregnant. She writes about the signs that something was wrong while pregnant and then the loss of their pregnancies and how Prince didn't want to talk about it publicly. She shares the breakdown of their relationship leading to the divorce. She writes about all this in detail so the reader experiences everything with her. The last part of the book is her life after her divorce from Prince and putting the pieces back together after such enormous pain that she handled with dignity even when Prince wasn't very kind to her. She writes about her adopted daughter and where she was when she found out Prince died and how she is coping with it. She is a very strong woman and I admire her. I really enjoyed reading her book.

This was a great interview, I was happy to be there and be a part of it. HER story was beautifully and respectfully written. HER story about their friendship, work relationship, romance, pain, loss was heartfelt, raw and emotional. I'm happy she wrote it and gave us a glimpse of what their lives were together. Mayte manged to show us a human side of Prince that none of us knew or would ever come close to knowing. Mayte did a great job of that in this book and it made me love him more, flaws and all. After reading this book, I have come to respect and admire Mayte even more. 💜💜 #love4oneanother #themostbeautiful

Mayte is so nice! What a pleasant surprise! I'm so sorry that her marriage could not withstand the storm of losing a child, I know that can be very hard. I think they made a good couple. Back in the 1990's my sister sent me three wishes: When you are lonely I wish you love. When you are confused I wish you faith. When you are down I wish you joy. These are my wishes for Mayte.

Oh my word why am I just finding out 3 yrs later Mayte wrote a book i'm a huge Prince fan fm day #1 of his career and talent since the late 70's i can't wait to buy her book i andread about her and their life together ❤

Mayte is such a beautiful person. I am sure she misses him; I know I will miss him eternally. I am sure he is looking down at us from Heaven.

The book was beautifully written and a gem for Prince's true friends. For those of you who claim that she's an opportunist, read the book. Prince disrespected her to the hilt and she STILL decided to walk away from the marriage without the millions she deserved. If she's making money from this book, good! It's well overdue.

i love Prince, always have always will. This waz Mayte's life also. She probably could have made more money if she had written a trashy tell all right after the divorce- she didnt. i can understand healing through writing. Also, his friends and family, even Sheila E., contacted her and had her in the tribute- so i do not think Mayte means to do harm to his legacy. In fact, I do not think she could! Prince waz a genius, his music will stand the test of time.Also, about her appearance; he was also an artist w a vision, as well as her boss- that is how it works in show business. Shannon Mchenry I understand that it was Mayte's life too,but Prince was a private man. In plus,he stopped her two years ago from writing and publishing the book. I am very sorry for the loss of their babies,but at the end of the day,that is not what Prince would want. If Mayte loved Prince,she would have respected his wishes and not write and publish the book period. Love Prince forever though.

I believe she was closer to him than anyone. He was smitten. So was she. I dont believe shes all about money,she has money. She never re-married, never got pregnant again. Honestly, most of us have had a true love in our life but circumstances change the dynamics. However, true love doesn't die. Theres no denying their love was true. Jealousy and envy isn't a pretty trait. I will admit she's by far the most lucky woman in the world. And I would LOVE to have been her during the good years. I still miss him terribly. Have loved him since I was 17. And I always will 💜

Loved this interview. Ricky is such a terrific interviewer. He really does his homework and has insightful questions for every guest that comes on. I think this is the first time that I got to really hear Mayte talk about the book and her life in an authentic way.

i think the 2nd wife trying to hide their divorce records tells alot worse....especially, when you see them since they were released....that shows her motivation clearly. i have no hard feelings for Mayte, but #2 is another story....

She had Prince in a daze when she was young but as she started getting older he saw right thru that act, dumb, naive and very immature, she is profiting off her ex husband whom she been annulled/divorced from for 21 years and as along as folks keep sympathize with a grown woman she is going to keep on, someone in her corner needs to tell her suck it up, put her big panties on and get over it, it's over, been over, like my mom always told me dont let any person set you back life goes on and the world keeps turning she is missing out chasing after a dead man, who doesn't care anything about her anymore

Wow from knowledge of this and correct me if im wrong. There we're alot of things that Prince and yours self didnt agree on. As he was transforming himself from the ways he use to conduct himself,(like take off the old bring in the new) you wasnt with it. When he knew you werent willing to change with him and grow into something more better for the better of you two,he divorce you and didnt want anything to do with you. Very much later on he remarried. Your book is all well and good for you but this was a personal gain. Hes not here to tell the real story.

Tenishia Chisholm I agree; she seemed like a perfect fit especially in the interview in Oprah. I always thought, they both look so in love. She repeatedly said she'd never called him Prince, but every time you see her now she refers to him as Prince repeatedly. Unfortunately her image has tarnished because she comes off as nothing more than a gold digger. Funny how since his death, she's out publicly promoting herself. I saw an episode of her on a reality show having momentos of their marriage appraised. Shows just how much of a gold digger she actually is. My husband passed several years ago, the sentimental value of the keepsakes from our marriage have more than any monetary value. An expensive Japanese table we purchased, I've been offered several hundreds of dollars for and my response is always, "there's no amount of money that could come close to the sentimental value" that this holds for me. She's a beautiful lady outwardly, however I think there's something less than beautiful that resides in her heart

Autumn Myers, we all have an opinion, what I'm reading in my book is LOVE , she said alot of great things about his royal badness, I love Prince dearly, they shared a romantic life together at one point , Things go wrong in alot of people's life , nonetheless it does not change that these people at one point loved each other whether you agree, I agree, the media agree , don't matter at one point they shared mad love I truly believe, PRINCE was so very private I dig that , that is part of what I love about him, he was so humble. yet the genius he was, but remember it was Mayte's life too, she still gave him respect in this book

I don't think he would like people walking through his house/recording studio, because he was so private. His sister Tyka said Prince would want his fans to see where he lived and made music.If she truly knew anything about her brother, she'd know he didn't care for the word 'FAN' because he said it a shorter version of the word 'Fanatic'. I mean we are talking about a guy who did not allow even his wife to go into his hair salon, she was not allow to call him, plus he once docked her pay when she came to rehearsal in sweat pants and not full costume and makeup. What are your feelings on this? And they were married for heavens sake!!! God help her if she ever farted accidentily. I'd be afraid to have a bowel movement!!

Janet Carlson , I do agree with alot of your comments , he was very private that I love her wasn't all Hollywood even though he was the largest star on the planet , but I do know he would occasionally invite certain people to Paisley , he loved children he was definitely a humanitarian , and loved the city in which he lived MINNEAPOLIS, /CHANHASSEN AND WANTED TO SHARE APART OF IT TO PEOPLE SO IT'S MIXED EMOTIONS HERE , WE ALL LOVE PRINCE SO MUCH , THE THOUGHT OF ANYONE EVEN ATTEMPTING TO DISCREDIT HIM OR TARNISH HIS NAME MAKES US MAD , BUT I THINK SHE DID ACTUALLY LOVE HIM AT THAT TIME, AND APART OF HER STILL DO. Love her book I have it it's such a good read I'll have to read it again I remember the first time I read it I absolutely cried and felt all the emotional 💜🙏 I thank mayte for writing the book

She changes her story often. Here she says she was driving when she heard he died. Then she says in another interview that Manuela called and told her.

I am think from the snippet of the book and closed the book with a "Aww dang! That is a cool book and can't wait to read the rest of it.

I love Mayte because she loved Prince and he loved her. Unfortunately in life things change and it breaks my heart knowing that they lost two children. Everytime i listen 2 her story it brings tears to my eyes for so many reasons. I hate the thought that they had 2 experience this pain, looking forward 2 reading her book.

Yeah, I think, and very much when he was alive but even more so after his death, that Prince fans don't grant him with enough credit really in having a full rounded personality. Bad traits and deeds with good, hard times and bad, love and losing, tragedy and happiness, as trite as that all is phrased. She kept her mouth shut on a lot of things and still didn't do a Tell All and won't badmouth him. Sharing that he had a full personality and normal type life as someone not famous, not him, does/did... that's not aiming to hurt or disparage or not her place to share her part of life. Again, they're both just people; just because she shares a negative detail or eccentricity doesn't make her a bad person. It makes people who don't think he was or could have that fully to him, that she shouldn't be able to speak of him with more than a one-sided, "he was wonderful, you are a horrible person with horrible traits if you make him out to be a human" to not be fans or friends. That's stripping him of personhood and worse than someone sharing that he was just another person when it all came down to it. Amazing artist and person in many ways and I still have a hard time with his death... but he was a human being...

On the show Hollywood Exes. Mayte's mother let it slip out about Prince being mean for no reason. But what she is overlooking is it wasn't for no reason. Prince was teased for a long time in high school and still to this day about his height, having a tiny body and being called gay, he has been compared to a dwarf and a munchkin. He has been call a purple umpa loofa especially from the MJ fans. Umpa loofa is a small character from Willie Wonka And the Chocolate Factory movie. So if he was mean there were plenty of people who were mean to him as well.

The program "Hollywood Exes" ,it consists of the ex wife of E Kelly, Eddie Murphy and of course Mayte. I think it only lasted one season. I'm not sure of that so I could be wrong. I'm sorry, I meant R Kelly.

Mayte and Prince have a love that was strong for one another. Every relationships has their ups and downs that God put us through different courses in our life in order to find balance to make it work. Mayte is a very beautiful and genuine person . The fact that Mayte really took her time to complete this novel this book was already in progress while she was married 2 Prince. By sharing her intimate moments as a child too an adult life being marry 2 Prince. Prince always live a private life and with the loss of their child , devastating! very intimate , very compassionate, very honest. I don't feel that mate is trying to make anything off this book after everything took place with Prince I believe that she's being a responsible person allowing them to understand what a genuine talented musician a gift from God to share with the world that he is an amazing person. She was on a show with a few other famous artists wives wow Prince was currently still active and yet so private. And she does have a beautiful daughter that God has blessed her with.

She speaks of prince in present tense. Being a pro. Belly dancer at 16 And being signed over to a 32 Year old man does not keep you From being seduced by him. All those older belly dancers out Here would have looked better. You knew nothing . I know the Game its been in my own family. Mothers aleast should look out for Their daugters. He had too many irons in the Fire, i think he knows that.

I can't believe she has the audacity to say he stole her clothes and then she body shames him by saying she knew that he had taken them because when he put them back they would be high waters because you would have them made to fit him are you kidding me!!!! Prince had his clothes custom made why would he steal any of your clothes other way around!!!

This was a very good book. Maybe is inspirational.

Imo, some things should remain private. If you need to, go talk to a therapist. But not the whole dang world... All I'm saying is, so many of P's irrelevant, past acquaintances, ex's, & so called friends are coming out of the woodwork. Telling all kinds of stories, writing books, making songs & shi-. Where were these people when he was here? Exactly, no where to be found. Because Prince is not here to defend himself or his character, Mayte & all the rest of them need to go have several seats, no, have several rows of seats & shut the heck up. I'm completely ok with listening to P's AMAZING music, watching his videos & live concert footage. A few of the tribute bands that actually toured with him are pretty cool too...I'm not trying to be mean, but some of these folk are going too far & again, this is simply my opinion...

I have not purchased/read the book....yet. I just find the timing of the release a bit overwhelming ((speaking for myself)) in regards to the upcoming first anniversary of PRINCE's passing. Speaking for myself, I am still very tramatized, sad, angry, and all the emotions associated with the loss of PRINCE. Maybe once the grief subsides and the pain of the loss isn't as raw, I can be open to reading this book. As a side note, I truely pray that Mayte's intentions are purely from the love she had for Prince and not the money side of it. The truth will always be revealed eventually. ~~RIP PRINCE~~ 4-ever loved~ 4-ever missed!

You are totally wrong, Graciela. I am not upset because Prince did not fall in love with me. People are upset because Mayte is a phony. She wrote the book after Prince died. She knew he was a private person but yet she wrote her story and is making a profit from it. She was not the "One" otherwise Prince would not have divorced her.

She had empty eggs ! She got implant from Prince girlfriend's egg. Basically she was a surrogate not the biological mother! She is nuts and making money! The baby's body was burned to ashes to Prince's friend backyard and the girlfriend the biological mother was there and Prince. Mayte wasn't there she just did a job and she got the villa in Spain and later she sold that place and made money to move into her ranch in LA. She adopted a daughter why bc she can't have a baby and never could before either. She needs money to live her life and doing fairy tales for naïve people to spend their money to support her comfy lifestyle. Prince would have sued her she is a big liar and a psycho. OMG! Please people wake up this is show time & business and u r the victims!

Everybody knows now Prince had a genetic problems and she was tested to be able to do a job health wise for an implant . She couldn't have babies but besides the point . Prince wanted his girlfriend with him in PP bc Mayte was the show wife and the surrogate. Anyway how could you believe somebody who is making money of people? Prove me I am wrong and you right and prove me the baby genetics was Mayte's and not Prince's girlfriend after burned the baby to ashes and put them in a secret place . Now you know why he annulled his marriage bs she was nothing zero!!!

Jewell Foster. Maybe you are right. I remember one of his interviews when he mentioned how special it was for him when Manuela called his name. He even had a song about it! Call My Name. Mayte should have done it, it could be something he couldn't ask from her but always wanted in some way? Remember in a book when he asked her how it was correct to pronounce her name and she explained it... why didn't she ask how to call him? He wasn't a symbol then.

mayte has always been a true and loyal person in his life, as his wife she could have taken him for all he had yet she decided to move on with her life . anyone who is saying that shes after his money is an ignorant idiot . She is giving him the respect by writting a book about a man that aside from his stardom also a human being and had problems like anyone else and still she talks about him in such a tasteful and respectful manner.

Mayte and Gia were not hard to find. If he wanted her at Paisley that could have been arranged. OMG....she 's delusional She was part of his journey and past and that's where it remained.

Interesting that she said her original due date was Nov 6th in her tabloid. If this were true, she would have had to have been pregnant by the last week of Jan to be 40 weeks - or full term, like she said she was. Right Mayte ??

Yes she was pregnant before he married her that’s why they had to rush the wedding but in her book she tries to convince people otherwise so they had to reconfigure A family album to fit the predicament she was in but she got pregnant on purpose

Plus was just curious to see an interview with the wife of an exceptionally popular celebrity figure, who divorced him, yet still could speak respectfully about him, even celebrate his legacy. Exactly, had interviews wrote in her book about Prince burning the urn up and she has the urn. Also in her book he was her legal guardian at 16, then she states in the podcast that she was in her 20's along side of him on stage having fun. She is still milking, shedding the fake tears for cash and folks suck it up, a marriage that been over for 23 years I dont get it

I get what happened to amir is sad and the divorce as well but that was many years ago, you can’t live with so much sadness in your heart and go years reliving the past. You have to move on at some point. In her book she really sounds obsessed with him after the divorce. If she loves him a lot, then why all the hate and shade. she and her mom were throwing so much shade at prince on Hollywood exes.the other women who were married to other guys, seemed to have more manners and respect. She’s always changing everything about the baby stories. She complained about not having purple rain money to support her kid🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ first of all prince isn’t Gias father and second what kid should he be supporting if Amir passed away.

This is a story that we should have heard some time ago. I never believed the whole Susannah-was-the-love-of-his-life thing. She never was. He had many women that he loved deeply, even more than Susannah, with Mayte being one of them. Her story was a good one and it wasn't loaded with fantasy delusions either. Just deep feelings of the joy of love, and the pain of loss from being a part of his life. I miss him all the time.

Mayte inconsistencies are no better, she did a podcast Monday, wrote in her book did interviews on how Prince burned up her sons urn, wow 7 years passed she has the urn, also she stated she was in her 20's along side of Prince on stage having fun, a far cry from him being her legal guardian and her working for him when she was 17. Definitely back peddling on her words who believe anything that comes out of her mouth

awwww Mayte so young back in the day. "Could you be the most beautiful girl in the world?" Never seen him being regular? Don't believe that sound extremely skeptical. I heard dudes say prince was doing regular stuff. Your his wife never seen him regular? pray for Mayte. Prince is gone . i didn't like that she told too much about how Prince went about dealing with the preganancy during and after, some things she did not have to tell and was too personal to be between her and Prince, I really didn't need that much detail how things were handled, it was an awful tradgedy for them both. I only liked the beginning how they met and how Prince was smitten by her and was a regular dude in courting her with the many phone calls and flying Mayte to see him.. it was cute and adorable and the part how prince challenged his band members playing a dare game to win money and she did the stage dive then hit the floor..lol but she won..lol

Kandi Kane I too have mixed feelings...most of the stuff she shared was already known, except as you mentioned, the more intimate details of their loss of their son. The main thing that stuck out for me was toward the end, when she said she saw Manuela amongst the group! She actually said that Manuela looked something like her!!!! As I've always suspected, something's amiss with her. Everyone knows Mani looked more like Vanity; therefore, just in my humble opinion, sort of proves where his heart always was.
