Yes it’s a great song but he massacres it, turning it into an overblown jumble of egotistical noise. Sinead O’Connor’s version is stripped down and actually sounds like what it means - a knowingly self-piteous cry of pain to a love lost. This is just Prince & Co showing off, totally out of tune with the meaning of his own song.

@@portuguesehydrangea4818 I never followed Sinead in 90s, but now learning about her and her history.. what an amazing human being. Trying to stand up for children who were being sexually abused in the church, being true to herself by for example shaving her head when the "industry" wanted her more feminine, finding peace in Isalam, even though I believe she believed in the Holy Spirit too. I was sad to hear about her son passing last year; and can't help wonder if her death may have been at her own hand. I guess time will tell. Such a strong soul; yet broken on the inside too. Her mom died when she was only 18, and even though her mom abused her according to Sinead, it seems she missed her mom terribly; and this song Nothing Compares to 2 U" was directed to her mom when she sang it. She sang it with amazinging passion that I could feel her rare, pure emotions. I hope she is smiling and finding amazing love with her son,, mom, and all her relatives that passed on before her.

Not only did Prince write songs, but he played most instruments and produced music. His hands-on approach gave creative power back to artists. By taking full control over the direction of his work, Prince was able to shape the sounds that still influence countless musicians to this very day. Prince's multifaceted talent on numerous instruments was crucial to his musical legacy. He created a unique sound that blended funk, rock, pop, and R&B elements, and his virtuosic playing was a key part of that sound. 0:07 [Indie Band Guru; Olimpus Music]

Here’s another fact in a 1994 or 95 interview I think it was in Q magazine Prince was very competitive about his guitar playing and competitively said things about Eric Clapton that suggested Prince was also a guitar hero. I forget exactly what it was but it stood out to me because I was like whoa at the time but if you want to do research what prince said it’s very interesting kind of true.

Prince=Genius. PERIOD, That being said he lent the right song to the right girl. There is only ONE song I can say that about. So tragic he is gone. He literally was one in a million. How many artists can you say you know from the jump of any song? RIP purple Legend. That being said, Sinead killed this. I think she did him justice

Agreed. He was a musical genius. But I think Sinead's version is better. My opinion. Also the Prince estate refusing to grant rights to the song for her documentary is just petty. Would granting the rights take away from Prince's amazing talents? I think not.

@@sportsnoticeboard You say "his" wishes, but it was my understanding that it was his sister representing the estate that made the decision. Of course as you know the moment has passed and even if it hadn't, you can "respect his wishes" from the perspective of "hey it's their decision to make" and still have an opinion, with mine being that it is petty. There's room for all of these talented individuals. It was a joke but was based on facts. Prince and Charlie Murphy had a good game of pick-up basketball. Prince never changed into shorts but wore his stage attire and completely destroyed Charlie's team with help from his crew. At the end he was magnanimous in his victory and was the best host; pancakes all around. RIP Prince Rogers Nelson and Charlie Murphy. The game still continues; Computer Blue.

So sweet when he blew a kiss to someone in the audience he knew. He looked so happy to see the person he had an almost imperceptible bobble getting back on stage. Seems to me Prince loved his female and male friends so much. I bet he was really grateful for them which accounts for their near unanimous praise and loyalty to him. I don’t know, but he strikes me as an amazing friend who had a unique, special relationship with each of them.
