I idolized Prince and Around the world in a day album as a little boy. That album was such a prized possession back in the day and it STILL is.

I’m so grateful that I witness Prince growing up with his artistry and natural born talent. All of my Prince albums, tapes and cds are my prize possessions that I enjoy still. His music is timeless and stands next to any “music” that’s comes out now. Honestly there’s not too much creativity going on musically now and most artists sound the same.

Great insights from Sunset Sound. I hope the Prince estate gives this album the SUPER DELUXE treatment as they have the others.

@@New_Zealand_Music I think maybe before he passed his playing wasnt appreciated, but since that George Harrison tribute performance went huge on YT ('While My Guitar Gently Weeps') it's generally appreciated that he was a smoking hot guitarist ☺ 🎸 🔥

If you're talking in terms of the greatest guitarists of all time - Hendrix, Van Halen, etc - he isn't in that club, because he wasn't an innovator, he didn't push it forward. Just my opinion 👍

@Verity Treacle It sounds like you're confusing "greatest guitarist" with "greatest innovator". Prince could play Hendrix better than Hendrix when he was a chile. A friend recently played a video of EVH and told me what a great guitarist he was. I said "He's an amazing player but do you ever think ' I want to hear this piece of music?' because I don't particularly want to hear it ever again", and he agreed. I saw a video where Steve Vai said he doesn't pick these days because it doesn't sound good. It's amazing to see such a skilled player wake up to his flaw. The guitar solo in Future Soul Song is incredibly simple and yet I feel as though I've been touched by God whenever I hear it. Do you dig? Personally, I think Prince was the greatest guitar player because he always had a flow. The guitar was another voice for him. Surely the greatest guitarist should be the one who sounds the best. PS. I ❤️ Hendrix

This is very cool to hear stories like these. I bought the album when it came out, still have it today, also bought the cd (can't listen to the album in my van). Total genius he was! The music that he created was mind blowing and trend setting. So many songs that he wrote for others became HUGE hits, some #1's, but a lot of us had NO idea he wrote them. Of course over the years it's come out that HE wrote them.

It’s such a shame that some of his sessions (Prince) weren’t recorded visually! I know we didn’t have the high def quality that we have today but even if some of them were video taped I would love to see them! Let’s hope maybe some of them were and will be shown at some point!!
