Awhile ago a guy called into my shop just on closing with all this really cool stuff to sell me! In this episode, we'll go through the boxes of shed things including some really nice old electrical test equipment! I'm a bit out of my depth with this stuff!!

Shunts are a low value resistor which the amp gauge uses to measure the voltage drop between the two sides of the resistor. I have seen plenty of those old gauges at swap meets and none of them have the shunt resistor so they are useless unless you can find the matching shunt. If any old shunt is used the amp gauge will give a very in accurate reading.

Ah, thanks Lucky! That's interesting. Mind you - most of my customers don't buy these old things to use, just for display purposes so that wouldn't worry them. I've actually sold one of the timber ammeters already - first day in the shop!

Some nice bits, like the old Voltmeter with the holes in it! My husband spied the HP calculator straight away having worked for them for 27years! A bit of tomato ketchup might sort that battery terminal out 😉 Nice prices indeed!
