It depends on what they agreed to before the match. In the old days, yes, but IIRC at some point the rule became that all communication had to go through the arbiter (Karpov vs Korchnoi might have been when that started). It might not have been the same for subsequent "friendlier" matches, but I don't know.

Of course, for some, the perfect game is one of those Belgium vs Switzerland 0-0 snoozers...which unfortunately has become too easy to engineer with the help of today's robots and databases. Some of us had given up--Grischuk's famous "RIP classical chess" after 12 straight draws in the Carlsen-Caruana match seemed pretty final, but this match shows that if both players are willing to go after the win, it can still be 6-6 after 12 games with PLENTY of decisive results. It's true, they will have to put up with silly, even ignorant comments from the spiritual descendants of Lilliput, but for the rest of us, thank you, you're both worthy champions, and we'll be glued to our screens in a few hours for game 13!

Looking at both of them makes me want to cry. But for completely different reasons
Well done Ding. Hard luck Nepo. Wishing you both all the best for the remainder of the tournament. This has been so entertaining and intriguing, my first chess championship has been awesome!
Nepo was mostly unfriendly at press conference at beginning of the match. Now even he lost he was composed and answered the questions respectfully. I think it is because of Ding contagious smile and honesty. If magnus was there, nepo will be different at press conference. He will be very negative.

Not really. Ian answers in a usual candid and direct way. In Dubai he was praised for the way he conducted himself at the press conference. He was not negative at all. I was at the press conference during the last game when he lost the match.
The spirit and humility of both players throughout this amazing match is surely a great example for any young players coming up. Both Nepo and Ding are a credit to this elegant game!
I love you Ding!
"no, no, that was the middle game. I was totally lost" with a smile lol 🤣🤣🤣
What a great question. The first media one. About the engines 'knowing' and than the way the players judged it at the time. Sorry for Nepo.. must be hard for him. But happy the show goes on.. 👍👍
Is this censored? Why didn't it end properly? Where are the questions from Twitch? We don't even see the players get up. Did any of you who saw this live know if this is censored, and if so, where I can get the whole thing please? Thank you.
Congrats Ding 👏🏻🥳
Medical professionals around the world owe their thanks to this match, for it has proven that choking is a contagious condition.

Great entertainment today. Even more to come now. Go Ding!
Ding is so cute, Ian is devestated
Poor Nepo, but i'm so happy for Ding!!!!!!
Mad as game awesome this series has been so fun and interesting to see I hope that Ding wins but if Nepo wins I wouldn't be to upset outstanding series gentlemen love from New Zealand
Is there a part 2 of the press conference? It was cut abruptly.
Wait why did the press conference get cut off? I thought there were more questions coming!
No one knows how Nepo felt. Sure, many of us have experiences when winning a super important game that we then lost. But the greater the importance, the greater the fall & the suffering. This was among the worst possible. I can barely even imagine Nepo's pain. Yet somehow we still expect him to shake it off and bounce back as quickly as possible.
Wiiiiild, wild WCC!
After such a horrible result The way Nepo talked is Quite Impressive and remembered me the quote that 'Chess is the Gentlemen's game'.

Congratulations for Ding
I've been watching the WC since the early 80s and this is the most interesting and compelling WC I've ever seen.
Compared to first day, Ding has become a good English speaker 🙂
The momentum, the confidence is with Ding he has the edge, but if Nepo can overcome his emotions they will go all the way to tie breaks.
Nepo's hallucination became Ding's clarity...fascinating activity
Go Ding!
Ding chilling 😎
Did the last guy really ask Ding whether the losing position is his prep???
Ian, I love your suit!
Nepo, go to the win!!! Удачи, Ян
Ian somewhat composed on the outside. Shattered internally. He had the crown and threw it in the lake of despair. 😅
All the best, Nepo. You got this
great
It amaze me how much Ding has improved his english during these 12 conferences. Much more fluent and confident. Great training!

Ian, mi tebya lubim ! ti luchiy i viigrayesh ! Vse za tebya!!!
Why did the part where Ian was about to respond in Russian and they interrupted him to respond in Russian piss me off 😑
First 30 seconds, When she said, the game was won by Ding Liren, Nepo's reaction, every chess player feels sad for him. What a match, still could not believe that happened. Hopefully, Nepo makes a comeback and we witness something exciting!
Why no twitter corner this time
Game 13 will be epic.
Bro Ding spitting lines in this press conference like a rapper💯
I feel like Keti should slightly prepare the chess variations in advance. In 3:44 when she asks about 29.Bxg6, and Ding replies "what happens after 29...hxg6?", she should have prepared the fact that 30.d5! is the key. Then we could all understand better why Ding missed it.

Ian concede the point to tight the match and move to rapid chess.
Please fide put a board on the screen in the conference it's chess conference come on
What is the name of the journalist who spoke 8:13
That first question is a disgrace, the players haven't seen the almighty evaluation bar analysis, wouldn't know 'every move is a mistake'. Also the pressure must of been high for these players, they are due more respect, and Fabi may comment like that but he didn't finish ahead of these two players did he.

@@JoeCJK Hi, i'm not saying to disregard his opinion, i'm just saying this thing isn't fair to say before the players themselves look at computer analysis, like, the first thing you hear after the game is that lol. Also, it isn't true that 'every move was a mistake'!! Anyway, my annoyance is centered on the question by interviewer, at that time, not at Caruana.
Interviewer needs to be a pro to be able to ask these questions.

It depends on what they agreed to before the match. In the old days, yes, but IIRC at some point the rule became that all communication had to go through the arbiter (Karpov vs Korchnoi might have been when that started). It might not have been the same for subsequent "friendlier" matches, but I don't know.
The London or Colle systems is what Ding needs with the white pieces. Nepo is literally clueless when either of these set ups r on the board. Why doesn't he venerate these systems? I guess is too programmed with the opinions of others to give them a try at these levels of chess.
Interviewer seems to copy Ding's accent 😂
