This was an extraordinary visit by our President, Ronald Reagan to come and spend time in Ballyporeen, County Tipperary. I'm amazed how gracious and humble he was in front of the townspeople of Ballyporeen. For the U.S. President to take the time to visit this typical rural Irish village and refer to himself as one of them, was extraordinary. By watching this classic and authentic video you can see and hear how moved President Reagan was to be "back home in Ballyporeen." President Reagan really should be recognized as the second Catholic U.S. President, as his whole extended family were Irish Catholics from Tipperary. It was only because his father Jack had some personal struggles and did not practice his Catholic faith; and Ronnie's mother Nell Clyde Reagan, was more emphatic in her practice of the Protestant religion called the Disciples of Christ that Reagan was considered a WASP. Either way he was one of kind and we will not see the likes of a man like that again!

James, You wrote a beautiful message. And, like Shakespeare, Ronald Reagan was most definitely a 'secret Catholic.' Amen.

As in Irish-american I love Ireland and hopefully one day I can visit. if there had never been a United States I could only hope that my ancestors would have stayed there its such a beautiful country but I'm also very proud to be American. An American who loves his Irish roots.
