The people of Bangladesh will never forget this great Prime Minister of India. A token of love and affection to Mrs Gandhi was shown at the Race Course Maidan (now Suhrawardy Uddayan) in Dhaka on 18 March 1972 by over a million people. They welcomed her as a great friend of Bengal and Bengali. It was the largest public meeting she ever attended in her life. She had re-established the inseparable bond of brotherhood between India and Bangladesh in 1971.

Oh man!! My chest swells with pride that we had someone like her as PM but my heart sinks in my stomach that she's gone and theres yet none to fill in for her.

Also China didn't have many religions and languages dividing them. Don't compare India to any other country. India is like no other. It's way harder to lead India than small countries like Philippines, Singapore, hongkong. It's easier to lead USA, China than India. You've to balance everything. She wasn't perfect and matter of fact no PM in history of India has been perfect everyone had their positives and negatives. She was fierce and feared nobody that's both her positive and negative side. It was during her reign India became a defence power house she layed the foundation of nuclear power as India tested it's first nuclear bomb under her. Made alliance with Soviet Union which helped strengthen India on all fronts it even resulted in the first Indian to reach Space (Rakesh Sharma and Indian Air force pilot). She definitely isn't the worst.

Part of tradition, I don't think we'd change it. More importantly it makes ours unique. End of the day like Raegan and Gandhi stood side by side while expressing both their respective cultures, it's easy for us to do the same as well. 🙏

That was Mrs Gandhi. Today's generation is being misled. Having seen her a number of times, I must admit she was wonderful though she made some mistakes due to circumstances. This was the era of Soviet and US conflict and she kept a good balance with both . That was diplomacy at its best.

The hell do you know about 1971 war, when the US deployed it's Navy's Seventh Fleet in the bay of bengal to attack India in favour of Pakistan. Even British & China was involved in this. Thanks to the iron lady Indira who shook hands with the soviet Union. Russia and Vietnam helped us during those tough times and we freed east Pakistan which is now Bangladesh. Don't talk about friendship in regards of these snakes.

She was a true leader who did mistakes ,but owned it.she is unparalleled in a very turbulent period of our history, always keeping development as the Goal. Lol. The leader who behaved like a dictator and had forced sterilization in India. Indian media is owned by them. So very few are exposed to how horrible she was. Thank God these tyrants are not ruling India anymore. It was such a pathetic state that one family tried to rule India.

Non comparable PM. Great leader and a strong woman.always feel proud

To sum it up, her diplomacy, conviction and her ardent love for the country, there is hardly any leader of that calibre today.

And yes we were not strong at that time economically but very strong on determination, our leader not cried for 200 year of British and all, instead they focus on growth and well being, yes it achieved slowly but we didn't complaint of that. Say what you want but Indira Gandhi was a patriot of first order. 3 of the most courageous and bravest leader of India have been Sardar Vallabbhai Patel, Indira Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. During Bangladesh creation Nixon could not move a finger to help Pakistan because whole of USA was with Indira Gandhi such was her world leadership skill. Listen to her speech in those few sentences she creates, clearly communicates and controls the framework of discussion that she will have with Reagan.

What a classic speech... She is the Crown Jewel of India. Very intelligently she mentioned that India will not be part of world power politics and taking sides as such, however will focus only on strengthening its economy and development.

I love to listen to Mr. Nehru, Mrs. Indira and Mr Rajeev Gandhis speeches. All the three of these great personalities were excellent orators

Feeling proud of both India and America although I'm an Indian only. I admire Mrs. Gandhi's personality. I would like to write her speech in my copy. It's an excellent speech of a good leader.
