Preparing for concrete floors in our bathroom, utility and hallway area

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hey Guys,
Welcome back to our channel!
In today's video we dig out more of the ground so we can get hardcore back inside, we complete the blinding sand layer. Rhys shows how he has gauged his levels for ground height using his datum point. We are prepping everything ready for concrete to be poured for the foundation slab in the next video. We love showing our project of building an extension and we hope you are enjoying it too.
What our channel is about:
We bought this semi-detached bungalow in August 2022 and given ourselves 3years to flip the property and sell on. We have a target budget of £70,000! Natasha is the editor and video maker, while Rhys is the builder (a carpenter by trade). We plan on doing 95% of the work ourselves to keep costs down.
This channel is for documenting our experiences - Good or Bad. This is our first time doing anything like this with full times jobs! Can we stick within our budget? Will the building inspector pass each stage? and the biggest question...will we still be married at the end of the project? Subscribe to find out...

If shoveling off a pile, ram the barrow into the edge of it, stand on the pile and fling into barrow, no working against gravity or swinging the spade. When raking hardcore, use the full edge of the rake, otherwise you just rake around the 25-40mm pieces and leave the dust in patches. You want a good mix throughout the hardcore.

Hi both you will be glad to be done with the concreting , and as you say any discrepancies can be fixed with the next layers . Have you got a plan to make the interior walls resistant to rising damp , or will you have them injected at some point . Kind regards as always 😀👍

We think the worst of the rising damp was through the floors and then condensing on the walls due to cold bricks and warm air. There is actually a slate DPC in the bricks and you can see where the damp stops in the lower bricks. But we might inject into the perps just above the DPC incase there is any rising damp if that makes sense

Makes perfect sense , and a wise precaution . 😀👍

    You need pipe inserts

I’ve got them, but was in a rush and forgot to put it in this end, doh! I have one in the compression end and when it comes to having it connected to the main stop tap I’ll put the insert in then 👍

Nice work mate but why did you not put your 100mm insulation on top of your visquin and then pour the concrete ?

We have underfloor heating going in so 150mm insulation ontop of the concrete then 65mm of liquid screed ontop once the pipes have been clipped in 👍
