After a year of playing ffxiv as a wow deserter (left earlier than the great migration), i can say this much : when I log in FF i tell myself "well, what am I gonna do, today?", whereas WoW had me asking myself "what do I have to get done before next week?" and it really makes all the difference.

I'm still baffled sometimes how much Pint's Lala looks like his WoW Gnome... And I really LOVE his videos. Thanks for reacting, Mike.

Pint and Preach are two types of content creators that FF14 has been missing. Not that the ones we have are bad, but there has always been a hole that these two fill. Even Quazi, don't forget about Quazi.

Pint nailed it. A lot of MMOs create never ending treadmills and stretch content out to try to be games that you login to play 3+ hours every single day. FFXIV is a game you can login daily and play because it doesn’t have never ending treadmills or content stretched thin by requiring repetition. It has a variety of content that you can enjoy and make progress in an hour or so. Quest, craft, RP, raid, grind relics, chill at the golden saucer, and so much more.

Pint's videos are another level for sure.

the big lesson to take away from this one is don't fuck with interior decorators, they'll murder gods, annihilate ultimates, and slaughter everyone in their way in PvP. And they'll do it just so they can put a new rug in the dining room and the content just sorta happened to be in their way.

G’raha Tia is absolutely a sexy character, Preach, where’ve you been? XD

As a Ao3 connoisseur, he's got over a thousand more fanfic than the next highest (Emet/WoL). The G'ra-not-my-first-appocolypes-Ha Tia love is real.

Pint's conclusion at the end is the reason i have still not deistalled the game, because every once and a while i think "hm... FF was always fun, i might want to play it again". The game never made me rage at it's mechanics which is a rare thing in the mmo genre. xD

It's like a safe space to put a name on it. I log between one or two times per week to do some dailys, talk to fc, or be afk in ultima hearing the song or in my house. Is a nice game that i enjoy just being in it

I stopped shortly after SAM was gutted, but i do come back every so often. I came back recently to try the island sanctuary and story stuff, but didn't even do the raid yet. I miss 6.0 SAM D:

Surprising but crafting has a story line to it to. I really like the alchemy story since it is about F'lhaminn Qesh the older cat girl that works in the scion base and raised Minfilia. She may be a side character but the alchemy chain helps to give her more of a background.

It's actually a followup to her story from 1.0, where she was already a character. If you look up the uldah intro for 1.0, you'll see all the events that F'lhammin mentions in the ALC questline.

the guys from GrindingGears are the stall kings. more than a year and they reach Rak'tika a few days ago. IMO thats a good way to play tho

Garrett and Kyle are great. I really like what they have going on, and how they play off each other, being real life friends and all. Plus, they don't just stream MSQ. They stream just about everything they do in-game. They make it fun.

@@Tackleberry61 they are fun the vast majority of the time, unless Garrett's attention meter runs out and he goes into whine/stall mode for a while, like happened in Il Mheg. My favorite moment of theirs tbh is still when he complained all the way through the beginning of SB up through the Ruby Sea, then when he caught the sword in the Susano fight he immediately shouted "I forgive Stormblood for everything!".

That doing pvp for glamor bit hit so close to home. The other day I did a bunch of pvp matches just to get a dyeable top. Man I fuckin suck at pvp but holy shit do I look fly now.

Please do Savage/ultimates, I want to hear your perspective on it compared to wow. I had played both FF and Wow for a while but at during Tomb my guild fell apart and I committed to making FF my main game for Stormblood. Raiding is so much more fun for me since then.

I would disagree that Square Enix is ACTIVELY encouraging people playing all their content. There are no board or hub in the UI or major cities that refer you and inform you of all the different game content that exists in FFXIV. I think their PASSIVE approach is to let everything be optional, and that you need to seek it out yourself, that this investigation step or initiative is a part of the journey.

There is a place where they show you stuff exists, but it's not a giant billboard marker for you to see. It's the recommended achievement list. Personal anecdote here, but I did unlocked Eureka shortly after finishing 4.0, but forgot about it completely until one day I checked the "recommended" tab in the achievement list and there was a map completion achievement for Eureka Anemos. So I went back and checked it out. I know most people turn off the achievement notifications on login, but it's there to remind you "have you tried this thing already?"

So I ignore it 😂 But I have been trying different content slowly, like bozja, gathering, housing, relic weapon, PotD, Island Sanctuary, got Silkie mount and now recently Triple Triad. I think there needs to be some random system that helps slingshooting you into new content and make it worth returning to. I think the solution is loads more shinies in for example achievements, which might give you any other endgame item. Making it random will make people be drawn to it, as it creates a lottery effect...... That's it. The Manderville Saucer needs to launch a mega ultra superduper lottery that gives you a percentage chance to get whichever softlocked mount or other prestigious item, that is increased by the number of tickets you gain through doing all the different side content.

It was a great video, except that Pint conflated the Clubbing Scene with the Roleplaying Scene. They're two different scenes! There's a little overlap but not as much as people seem to think.

I just played WoW for 24 hours. And I made the final conclusion that WoW is dipshit entertainment. After 18 years of playing, and only 3 months of FFXIV.

he only just reached EW but hasnt started it after he finished Sorrow of Werlyt. it has been 1 month already. Update: he just got to Old Sharlayan yesterday
