PRANKING MILITARY GUIDE! - North Korea Day 3

DAY 1183 // 1ST AUGUST 2016 // Pyongyang, North Korea
Our 3rd day in North Korea the most isolated nation on earth! I’m trying to focus on positive things in the country and combat the purely negative image we see in the Media.

    Love how people are telling Louis that this isn't the "real" North Korea when he's the one who's there experiencing it. Everyone knows about all the negatives about it, obviously, but how do you think you know any better when he's the one actually there experiencing it for himself?

    its hard to focus on the "positives" of a country that enslaves its own people, has no freedom of speech or religion and has brutal punishments. You are a fucking moron.

    Have you watched a documentary on North Korea? Watch the recent National Geographic one. Google "north korea amnesty international." Watch the video called "North Korean prisoner escaped after 23 brutal years" of a young man who was born in a concentration camp from a family that were shot to death for attempting to leave. Watch the TED talk of a woman who was able to escape before being sent to a concentration worker camp, and then fought and put her life on the line to get her family out of there as well.

    These trips are complete propaganda and controlled to show you a certain, not-so-true side of life inside of North Korea. Plenty of information online that states that.

    For this vlog series on North Korea the word "experience" must be used very loosely. The thing everybody is pointing out is that he is not really experiencing anything about North Korea, he doing only what they allow, seeing only what they want him to see. Have you seen him wander off the beaten path like he did when he was in China or anywhere else? Have you seen him not with the tour group? The answer is no, people are not trying to say they know better than Louis, they are just stating that what Louis is seeing and doing is not normal in North Korea. It's hard not to point out the negatives when the positives are staged for tourists.

    The "hero" they were all mindlessly clapping for was involved with the "Pueblo Incident" from 1968. During North Korea's capture of the ship (which was in international waters off it's coast), 2 American soldiers were killed. The remaining 82 crew members were malnourished and tortured until they "confessed" to everything NK said they did wrong. They also had to promise never to spy on them again. So... how about that round of applause now?

    To be fair, by all accounts the guys were drinking that night. It's possible the Wormier guy had a bit too much to drink and then delusionally thought it would be a good idea to steal a poster. Obviously he didn't steal it...or maybe N Korea did frame him. We'll never for sure know - only he knows that, and he's dead.

  • @ZachBussey

    @ZachBussey

    That's sort of why I'm pointing it out - a land devoid of life is usually a sign of major problems. You can't sweep the lack of nature under the rug and orchestrate it like they have done with the experience overall. That said - while I certainly wish that Louis would address the fact that this was very staged (considering he is home and safe), I don't think he does it JUST for the Instagram.

    "the sleeping man in the black shirt", intriguing, in north korea, anybody would need authoritative authorization to be in the immediate proximity of foreign tourists, all of the north korean's seen are infact paid, if even a meager compensation, to sit, and play a role for foreign eyes and minds, like the vast majority of north korean's, the sleeping man, no doubt, started his long grueling day, very early, struggling to feed himself and his family, struggling to get to this other "job", a professional poser, imagine the sheer drudgery of sitting for hours pretending to be reading like a free modern man, in some free country, he just fell out, for some desperately needed sleep, i wonder, when the north korean censors review this video, and everything is seen and reviewed, will this hapless desperate man be fired, or possibly even worse, we will never know, i wish kafka were alive to see the incredibly bizarre story of north korea, he would be able to summation and insight so much better, the sleeping man in the black shirt, the story will never have an ending
