Powering my WHOLE house with my garden shed! I'm sick of power bills. backyard power station.

Welcome to the 3rd video in my garden shed power system series.
In this episode i install the door, window, cladding and paint the whole thing.
The construction stage is now come to an end, and further videos will be in regards to my initial battery, solar and inverter setup i am using to supply power to the shed and run my house hot water unit. Over time i will be upgrading my system and eventually running my entire house from it.
If you would like to follow along on my journey make sure you like and subscribe.
Cheers guys.

Love the project! But you should aim to be a net exporter of energy over the year not off grid. Staying grid connected allows you to get a FIT in summer and use grid power when you can't produce enough solar power in winter.

Hi Mathew, thanks mate! My goal is to gradually transition to fully off grid, i do currently have 6.6kw of solar which is feeding into the grid. I plan to leave that system connected to the grid for now and gradually build onto my garden shed system that will over time take more and more of the house load while leaving the house system connected to the grid. i will most likely leave that system connected to the grid for as long as i still get a decent feed in tarrif. the reason i dont want to connect my other garden shed system to the grid is because it is getting more and more regulated, meaning you can only use certain inverters and they want to be able to controll your inverter and shut it off etc. whenever they want. Also most the inverters that meet the current new grid standards are high voltage inverters aswell so its harde to go the DIY route. I can build a much cheaper system if i dont go the grid connected route. Also because they usually only give you a good feed in for the first 10-15kwh of energy exported. In Queensland we get mostly sunny days, so in winter i still produce plenty of power so dont need to rely on grid. so doesnt make sense for to me to build a grid connected system in my opinion .

@@griffinsgetaway I have the same goals as you but is dark Melbourne. We have a 8.3kw system. We are already living a fully electric life ( home and EV) Have you looked at getting a Grid-Tie Micro Inverter with Wifi and App control? It can allow your DIY system to push power back into your house grid. Allowing for much easy of consumption of your DIY solar.

@MatthewBayard nice mate, I'm keen to get an EV too it's not quite in my budget just yet though. Micro inverters are good if you have a lot of different panel orientations or shading issues, I don't really have those issues so the extra cost notch really worth it for me. I would still need a battery inverter that meets the new grid requirements to make that work aswell. But will see what I end up doing, I was originally looking at doing a victron grid tied system. But victron no longer meets the new grid requirement so can't use them now either. I'll keep looking and see if I can find something suitable, but for now I'm still heading towards off grid setup, due to DIY and budget friendly.
