RECIPES AND INGREDIENTS:
0:00 Heat 1 tablespoon lard/oil in an ovenproof skillet (10 inch/25 cm) over medium-high heat.
0:03 Add 450g lean ground beef and fry well.
0:14 1 onion.
0:41 Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are soft, about 5 minutes.
0:51 Season beef with salt and black pepper.
1:02 1 tsp sage.
1:16 2 cloves of garlic.
1:32 Add garlic to the pan.
1:34 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce.
1:46 7-9 mushrooms (optional).
1:51 Mushrooms add a lot of flavor to the dish, but if you don't like mushrooms or don't have any, that's not a problem.
2:15 2 handfuls of spinach (optional).
2:23 Cook the spinach for another minute until wilted.
2:28 4 potatoes. layer
2:44 Place potato slices over the meat.
2:57 Season with salt and black pepper.
3:12 Add 1 teaspoon thyme.
3:17 Top with Gruyere cheese.
3:24 Repeat with remaining potatoes.
3:35 Season with salt and black pepper.
3:49 Add 1 teaspoon thyme.
3:53 1 cup / 240 ml cream or milk
4:02 Top with remaining cheese.
4:12 Cover the pan tightly with foil.
4:21 and bake until the potatoes are very tender, 60 to 75 minutes at 180°C.
