Maangchi, what is the best way to store the leftover Korean radish so that it doesn't go bad?
@Maangchi

It's such a good question! I wrap it in kitchen cloth or paper towel first and put it into a plastic bag, then move it to the fridge. It will last more than 1 month in the fridge.

The potatoes really looks like a traditional Norwegian recipe. Same method! But in Norway we fill them with either salted lam or salted fish. So fun to see the similarities :)

Thank you for this recipe. I made it tonight and it was delicious! It was amazing how the potato came out chewey, it was so different from any other potato dish I've had. I was out of anchovies so I used a big pinch of bonito and some dried shiitake, I think it would be even better with anchovy!

Wow! I am Polish-American and I watch your videos and love your cooking! I have been cooking Korean at home, I love all the vegetables and it reminds me of Polish vegetables except all made differenty. I was so impressed with the potato dumplings! I have never heard of such a technique before, I can't wait to make it and show my mother. She will not believe you can do it without an egg! Can't wait to see more from you, I love learning about and cooking Korean food!

Hello, Polish person here :D I watch Korean and other Asian recipies from the same reason as you - the techniques are a bit different but the general idea of using various vegetables, cuts of meat, marinades, stews and soups is similar to Slavic way of cooking. Tbh I have my own theory that Polish-Korean fusion would be mindblowing bc both nations love the same main three things - grilled pork belly, fermented cabbage and shots xD Also some regional versions of recipe for szare kluski (gray dumplings) are practically the same as this one. Esp in poorer regions eggs weren't always added but the grating, squeezing and waiting for starch to settle down is the same. You don't make them into balls but instead plop the mixture on a wooden cutting board and scrape pieces with a spoon into boiling water. They're served on their own with sour cream/sour milk/white cheese and chives or pan fried pork belly pieces and onions. Flour version is called kluski kładzione ("layed down" dumplings bc you lay them down onto the water ;). Kartacze/gray pyzy are made in that way too but usually you add at least 1/10 part of boiled potatoes for better binding and they come with a filling.

Polish here, too! I have good knowledge of old country Polish cooking, and the similarity I see to Korean cooking is in the general idea of cooking what you have (what is local, before all the transportation united us) and preserving, and cooking with preserved, vegetables. Just change the location and the ingredients - both are so similar. Maangchi is great and deserves some kind of cultural award!
I have never seen potato prepared this way! and I've been watching cooking shows from the world over for 30 years. I can't wait to try.
