Matt, Dave, Les, Ed, and Keith reflect on a lovely, stress-free afternoon at Goodison park. Don't get many of those, do we?

Shoutout Paddy and his suggestion of us playing wingbacks but he just called Gana “Gwey” hahaha. Our two best crossers of the ball are McNeil and Garner so it should be them as they’re comfortable on the ball and have great engines too, get them whipping balls into a front 2.

Decent shout this (think it was Ed who suggested it on the pod). Could be a good option if Branthwaite goes as both Godfrey and Mykolenko could play either side of Tarkowski in that set up. Would need a lot of training to perfect it though - it's a system that needs complete buy in (as we've seen most time they try to drop it in for the odd game - Burnley away being a big exception)

@@TheBlueRoomEFC also the game at Villa Park in the cup had wingbacks and it worked really well, we should’ve tried it these last few games imo. It suits our current squad more because: We don’t have attacking fullbacks. We don’t have wingers with pace who can get in behind defences. We don’t have a number 10 who’s good on the ball to link it all together. Last but not least we don’t have a prolific striker so why not play 2 of them and share the load?

It's been an incredible run since Chelsea away. That run of five wins with none conceded is the best since 2013. Results have been patchy but to go into yesterday's game completely relaxed was a great achievement. And without deductions the team would be level with Brighton and Bournemoth and not far behind West Ham and Man Utd - that's incredible progress tbf

I honestly think Barkley would flap it if he came back. And I really struggle to get past how he left - no one has ever done the club over as much as he did.

Surprised that people are still on this narrative that DCL is starved of service, DCL and Watkins have an almost identical non penalty XG per 90 and yet Watkins has 19 non pen goals compared to DCL’s 5 non pen goals. Even Brereton Diaz (who was called terrible) has equalled DCL’s goal tally and he only joined them in JANUARY 😱

This comment should be pinned on here but i doubt it will..If he goes good riddance he is crap..53 goals in 8 seasons an apparently we would struggle to get better..Blimey an he replaced Rom...

@@pmacca4830 I like DCL, he’s been a bargain and he’s put Everton ahead of his career at times playing through injuries but we can’t just be blindly biased to him. His best run was behind closed doors under Carlo and even players like Keane Holgate Godfrey looked good then so got to admit that was an anomaly

Without that run his stats would be even worse..He scored the winner against Palace to keep us up..Yet to say we will struggle to replace him...with them stats not for me...

@@pmacca4830 Yeah, I can see all sides to this argument. His stats aren't good enough, but given the state the club is in it'll be hard to get in anyone decent anyway. Soudns a bit defeatist, but the club is goosed.

DCL is a player I've always defended, but in my view he's obviously playing for a move. All of a sudden he can hang in the air, has strength etc during the last month of a season where he's not signed his contract. For .2.5 years the club has nursed him, he owes the club! It's a Barkley situation!

Boy, maybe all those long-term injuries had nothing to do with his form, and maybe he might get sold, but I doubt it will be his choice. Unless, of course, it's Real Madrid.

@@JG-us9lu I know he's had long term injuries. The point is he's been generally fit for quite a while, all of a sudden though he's able to leap through the air and put himself about. His effort and play has improved dramatically. I've watched football for far too long not to be able to clock someone actively playing for a move.

@patdog383 Wow, what amazing insight you have. I have also watched football for a very long time and played at quite a reasonable level. It takes time for you to get back from some types long term injuries and particularly match fitness. But hey,you know better he's playing for a move and there big clubs queuing up for him. Then again, I guess he could become trying to play his way back in to Southgate thoughts for the Euros. But I Im not a fortune telller or psychologist and dont know what in the guys head. But I do get your point, you think he is playing for a move.we
