oihan means jungle, not forest(i dont know if there is really any diference in english tho) and amalur is "mother earth" (thats why is more asociate with girls)

Ilargi, meaning moon, it's also neutral but more common for girls.

My 14 years old son is Amets. It was a dream for me to have a son or a daugther, so that's why he is called Amets.

The way I see it, Oihana, Izaro and Maren are very feminine, I'd be surprised to see a man with that name. The rest are quite unisex although some of them lean towards different genders slightly (Amaiur is a bit more feminine, Hodei is more masculine). Other cool unisex names are Itzal (meaning shadow, although it's also the sort of name you'd give to a dog) and Oinatz (tbf most new agey names ending in -tz are unisex).

izaro means age of stars. izar (star) + aro (age)

Izei works for both genders

Euskaltzaindia (the Academy of the Basque language) has a list of Basque names arranged by gender. It may help you check them!

Kaixo!! It's funny, I just came across 'iraitzi' the other day in a book!! There was only an entry for spanish on Elhuyar. Also, I remember seeing a man named Maite on the news once, clearly the socio -linguistics of basque names is pretty nuanced 😋

My aunt is named Miren which is very similar to Maren. She was named that because of her Basque heritage, so if anyone can specify for me if Miren and Maren are just variations of the same name or it they are different, I'd love to hear.

I am Miren Edurne. Miren is Basque traslation of Maria o Mary.
