Hello Jami Nunes ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This song was performed in Wacken 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, and Marco Hietala, bassist and singer, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland...

.. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tu-oh-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and very recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " Hoping you'll continue this journey with us, I'll drop here a list of songs with links with the current lineup of the band you may like. Please consider this list of links only as "a tip of the iceberg", an indication that they have a vast and very diverse repertoire, and NOT as something mandatory: "Storytime" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqqfu9mIer21frg.html "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/rK6TmbF8c7TSiNY.html "Song Of Myself" live at Wacken 2013 (dark/metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/aayg28VqZs6yedY.html "I Want My Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (celtic / folk vibe) kzread.info/dash/bejne/hnaDxsmxmsWWm7A.html "Dead Boy's Poem" - live Buenos Aires 2018 (soulful ballad) kzread.info/dash/bejne/hWx5la5wl8qyfbA.html "Ghost River" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4hrzLKBoresirg.html "Dark Chest Of Wonders" live at Wacken 2013 (metal, the greatest show opener ever) kzread.info/dash/bejne/n66X25WaadSej5M.html "My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk) kzread.info/dash/bejne/naKlx6txYJrAnLw.html "Sleeping Sun" live at Vizovice Masters of Rock festival 2016 (ballad) kzread.info/dash/bejne/ooqEtrd-h5S2dbA.html "The Islander" live at Tampere 2015 (Marco in charge..) kzread.info/dash/bejne/jKNs0MWEj5jRqsY.html "Stargazer" live at Tampere 2015 (operatic vocals / metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/gJx516OJidDFhco.html "Alpenglow" live at Wembley 2015 (uplifting / metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/eKZ-2K2TfqjOZ8o.html "Sahara" live at Tampa 2016 (middle eastern vibe) kzread.info/dash/bejne/noiqu8iFkZe9nM4.html "Slaying The Dreamer" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/qXVoltajkbObnpM.html "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" live In Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmZq1MGvcby3YLQ.html "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 (dark metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4JmlZuJktTImtI.html "7 Days To The Wolves" live at Wembley 2015 (dark metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/iqqnyNl6gMW9iMY.html And if you want to be surprised by Floor's vocals :) then try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" live at Mexico City in 2015 kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqmru5OdXa6vo9Y.html "The Poet And The Pendulum" [Wembley Arena 2015] kzread.info/dash/bejne/gGiKyNtuqabfXcY.html - for this one (The Poet.. ) I strongly recommend you to do some research, since is a deep emotional and meaningful song, for both the band and the fans. "The Greatest Show On Earth" [Tampere 2015] kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZmmW1Nx9eq7AY9I.html - You should leave at the end the epic masterpiece. You'll not be disappointed :) @Nightwish Arena: Since most of the reactors end up doing a lot of reactions from Wacken 2013 concert, they should be warned that there are a lot of slowed down and even high pitched versions of this concert, so it is better to use only official videos or videos from this playlist: kzread.info/head/PLexzLA11Cst1G4E0D61rAnWvnDF4zIz8M Last but not the least - they released their 9th studio album on April 10th 2020 named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: kzread.info/head/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg (for example: "Shoemaker", the 3rd track from this album, tells the story of Eugene Shoemaker, one of the founders of planetary science, whose ash was sent on the Moon after his death, as a tribute from the scientific community ..)

16:17 I have seen such facial expressions before, because I was in that crowd and we were all just blown away by her. For most of the people it was the first time, seeing Floor with Nightwish, because she joined the band during that tour. The expectations in the crowd were high, because we heard how great the South America Tour went, so she must be good, we thought. But when Floor came out, our mind simply got blown away and we all just fell in love. Oh, by the way, if you think this is a masterpiece, then you have heard nothing yet. Greets from Germany!

Welcome to the world of Nightwish, Jami. Every song is a masterpiece, and no two are alike. Tuomas, the keyboardist, is the greatest composer of my lifetime (IMHO) and on your journey, you would be wise to keep tissues nearby. He composes to touch your soul, and in the empathic singer, Floor, she delivers it directly with a bit of a punch. Her voice drips emotion, and his words are pure emotion. Being a pop singer, you might be interested in her performances of "Shallow" and "Let It Go," so you can see what her vocal mastery can do to pop songs. She transfers ownership of those songs to her, and the originals will never sound the same again. Her versatility will amaze you as you continue. Please don't get so caught up in her vocals that you miss the virtuosity of each of the players in the band, they are as brilliant on their instruments as she is with her voice. Also, pay attention to their relationships. They love each other so much, there is no ego in anything they do. They allow the others members to shine, making the whole a far better thing than it would be otherwise. I enjoyed your reaction ... found great pleasure in your discovery of this new world of music!

welcome to the fantastic symphonic metal universe of Nightwish Band, their live performances are some of the things that come so close to epic that they get to be mythical and of course Floor Jansen, queen of the stage and goddess of music, she can sing anything in any musical style she wants (WARNING! her voice, her stage presence, her charisma, in one word: her "spell" is highly addictive). this concert (wacken 2013) is incredibly epic and deserves to be watched and reacted entirely, song by song, in particular I suggest these three songs: "song of myself", "storytime" and "romanticide" this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" from 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from 2015 concert in tampere - finland (actually there is a fourth best performance: "dead boy's poem" from the 2018 concert in buenos aires).

Hi and welcome to the Nightwish rabbit hole! I see you fell for them as fast and hard as I did back in the day. The peron behind the songwriting and arrangement of the music is the man on the keyboard. His name is Tuomas Holopainen and he is the mozart of metal. His music is so genius that the band has survived the loss of one drummer, one basist and two singers. Alot of bands couldn’t continue after all that. Their current singer is the woman you see and hear in this video. I’m not sure that she is human though. Sometimes I get the feeling that she actually from Asgard and has beamed down here the help us mortals through these troublesome times with her godlike voice and charisma. And i would love to hear you simg these masterpieces. But please be careful! You’re a mortal after all. 🙂

There's about 25 years worth of Nightwish to explore if you care. They have been around for quite a while, headlining big festivals (the Wacken audience was about 80.000 strong), but as a metal band, they are not known to the general audience.

It is deep, band has long history and us Fans around the world are absolutely 100% behind this band. Now whatever song you pick from 2013 setlist, you can't go wrong. This was 1 of those concerts for sure(Just bummed I didn't see them live there)👀 Did catch them 2015 twice tho. Hope to see you react more to Floor's covers and this bands catalogue.

First time i heard Floor sing was at Wacken. I was sceptical to begin with, but i knew as soon as she opened her mouth Tuomas and the band had found a winner with Floor and the further the concert got n i was mezmerized and totally floored. Floor and Marko singing together their harmonies are impeccable. Ive been a Nightwish fan since the early days with Tarja and then Annette, but Floor blows both of them away with not only her vocal range but her stage presence and crowd interaction. Every member of Nightwish is so talented. Its just so sad we no longer get to see Jukka with his impeccable drumming and Marko with his amazing presence as bassist and his voice.

That's a good way to dip your toes into the rabbit hole of Nightwish. They've been around since 1996, so they have a lot of stuff for you to check out. Since you already seem like a fan, there's not really much to say. They have 9 studio albums and they've confirmed in a few interviews recently that they aim to complete the 10th one next year and release hopefully in 2024. All put together that's over a hundred songs already. They have a few mammoth pieces, three of them being Ghost Love Score, Poet and a Pendulum, and The Greatest Show On Earth. GLS is usually the entryway into Nightwish reactions, maybe you want to save those two other big ones for later (or not, who knows). This Wacken 2013 concert is very friendly to react to because the band was really on fire that night, plus they did a DVD live recording of it (called "Showtime, Storytime") so there are a lot of good clips of the songs available everywhere in YT. One thing to note is that any "high quality" versions of the Wacken 2013 Nightwish performances are potentially flawed. There was an error in the BR-DVD framerate conversion of Showtime, Storytime, which slowed down all of the songs in the BR version by a few percent. It's small enough that you won't hear anything wrong with it when first hearing a song, but all of the fans will be like what's up with this sounding so weird. Gabriel's list for example is a good place to find all of the good versions.

I was pretty sure you would like this. And I hope it cheers you up a bit after describing some of the housing annoyances you mentioned. As for further listening, long-time Nightwish fan and guru Gabriel should be along shortly, and he has the complete list of recommended songs with links. However, I could add one or two points. First, Floor has some solo efforts: covers, and her own self-written pieces. Both are excellent. For solo efforts to listen to, the most challenging one, if you really wanted to knock your vocal cords out ("please practice safe singing"), would be her cover of Lara Fabian's "Adagio", at kzread.info/dash/bejne/fY6Gqq6FfZmnhZc.html (almost impossible for amateur singers to sing). The common recommendation for her softer material is her cover of Lady GaGa's "Shallow", at kzread.info/dash/bejne/f2ps0sdtkcKfqs4.html. My favorite of the Nightwish songs is "Poet and the Pendulum", Live at Wembley 2016, but many Nightwish fans prefer the viewer to wait a bit before doing this one, and to research the background of the song first (I know Gabriel suggests this). I think most fans would recommend you do either "Storytime", or "Song of Myself" next, both at Wacken. Hope everything is going better in the apartment! Have a great week ...

Sucesso!

Basically, your face through about 80% of each song: 🤯 I've been a fan of Nightwish since 1998, when I heard their album "Oceanborn," which was followed 2 years later by one of the absolute masterpiece albums they put out "Wishmaster." I've had the sheer luck of being able to attend concerts with all three of the lead singers, and while all three have both their pros and cons, such as weird pronunciations by Tarja on some words and pitches, the inability to go to high head voice live with Annette because it strained her voice, and Floor's very rare missed pitches that she corrects within a microsecond but are given away by her snatching her hand to her ear monitor, Floor is by far, in my opinion, the best singer they've had (and probably will have). It is very much a case of the right person, with the right voice, with the right history, at the right time, in the right place, for Floor to have landed in Nightwish. She also picked up the setlist incredibly quickly (see the documentary "Please Learn The Setlist In 48 Hours"), and even during her first concert with the band, two days after the Denver Miracle. I point out your reaction because, as it happened, I was actually AT that concert after the Denver Miracle. Blind luck, circumstance, and visiting old college friends that had moved to the States from Canada, and a planned outing to see Nightwish ended up with me being there during Floor's first show, and my reaction mirrored yours. I usually get moving, headbang, throw up the horns, all that at metal concerts, but for that show alone, I was absolutely riveted in place on the floor, with this Valkyrie woman (she's as tall as I am, 6'1"!) howling, wailing, belting, growling out the songs and I was just there going "holy shit... this can't be real, but it is real, and this is the perfect singer for Nightwish!" The Denver Miracle itself was amazing, as it was the concert where Annette was taken to hospital with a severe flu and well worth watching the many mini-docs about it. Instead of cancelling, like the promoter wanted to, the band went on stage with a once-only setlist drawn up that the singers of the opening band, Kamelot, could perform with lyric sheets and having heard the songs off an iPod about 40 minutes before the lights went down. It was the only time since the Tarja era that "Over The Hills And Far Away" was performed live, because Elize Ryd, one of the singers of Kamelot, knew the song inside and out as it was the one she had auditioned to Nightwish with after End Of An Era (when Tarja was fired). As well, the crowd absolutely belted their hearts out, and even in the documentaries (fan made and as part of PLTSI48H), the energy of that concert was cosmic in scale. However, Wacken 2013 is, as they say in the sci-fi show Dr Who, a fixed point in time. There is pre-Wacken 2013, and post-Wacken 2013 in the Nightwish timeline. It was "the perfect concert," and remember, by the time Wacken 2013 rolled around, Floor was NOT YET a permanent member of Nightwish. But every song was perfect, every note was perfect, the board mix (which was the mix used for the DVD that all these videos come from) was engineered and mastered to absolute perfection by engineers and audio mastering specialists that knew exactly how and when to adjust... it was like Metallica in Moscow, or Queen at Wimbledon, or Jimmy Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner at the original Woodstock. It was a moment of musical perfection, and although I am not religious at all, some of my friends that have watched the whole concert start to finish have said that "it has the touch of God on it," it was THAT GOOD.

I suggest starting with more live versions with Floor and branch from their to other lead singers, studio tracks, videos, side projects, etc.,. There are a lot more different singing styles she mastered and can bring live. So it's a good thing the rest of the band is equally talented.
