Its the best live performance ever made. I WILL die on that hill if I have to. Not the biggest, not the most important, but if youre your talking about putting on a clinique, Ive *_NEVER_* seen anything like it. Its almost completely flawless from start to end. It shouldnt be possible to keep that level through an hour abd a half performance. You'd have to be a robot

Wacken 2013 gig was indeed legendary. Every song performed there is the best performance of that specific song ever, including all later live performances and studio versions. Even the sound engineer did perfect job! It's unheard of to have that perfect gig. For songs not performed in Wacken 2013, the location of best performance varies a lot.

My heart still hurts for Anette tbh, she got so much hate for being hired, she tried her best! The albums with her are amazing to me...of course I like Floor more but people were ruthless with her and the band was messy about firing her while she was ill. I know she had children and I imagine them seeing their mom getting hated on. She's a sweetheart, I hope she's doing great. Also I heard her dad recently died from covid :( life needs to give her a break

I agree Anette is a great singer I prefer Floor over Tarja and Anette because Tarja has trouble singing in English, Anette will always be a better singer as a pop version..But we have to respect Anette because Tuomas chose her and wrote songs for her..

For me it's floor, the way she opens up in the last few lines at the end... It just sends a cold shiver straight up my back. No other song does that to me. No other singer.

With Floor he sounds unleashed!!

I've been a fan of nightwish since Wishmaster. Gave them a chance with Annette due to a friend's recommendation of the Dark Passion Play album. He said that yeah the voice was different, but the compositions were even superior of everything they had done before. I was ready to give Annette a chance on a live, but to my surprise it was Floor who came to perform on that concert, 2-3 months after the Denver debacle. It was instant love. After that concert I was distress. Because I had several albums but none sounded to what I had just heard. Finally they release the Showtime storytime and was finally at ease because now the songs sounded how I wanted to be. As everyone here that is of course my personal preference but that's my nightwish story. Oh and Marko will always steal the show, there's no way that won't ever happen 🤣

I love all 3 versions! Each singer gave their own interpretation of the song and I think that's the most important thing we need to remember.

Agreed. I had never heard anette's version before. It was quite nice and I do have to give credit for the enunciation of the words. In hers you can hear the lyrics a bit easier than with Tarja or Floor but all three are excellent singers.

I've been A nightwish fan since their first album. But I lost it after Dark Passion Play. When I found out Floor was their new singerI bought the dvd from Wacken and that was in 2015 (I bought it) And OMG. The love was immediatly back. My feelings... Nightwish with Tarja is a band with a Lead voacal. Nightwish with Anette is a band with backing vocals. Nightwish with Floor is the whole package. A band of brothers and loving what they do

Me to a first album fan , Last time i seen nightwish live it was 2004 (dynamo open air, fun fact after for ever was playing the same day ). After tarja quit i stopped with nightwish.... Then 2 months ago i got all these reaction to nightwish videos in my youtube. I knew floor joined but never looked back.. Sure i played the 5 cd i had like a zillion times. Then 2 months ago i got a reaction to nightwish video (love scorn) . you hear the song and your hooked again ... Floor has a great voice and it works in many many nightwish songs...but some songs just sound better with Tarja... A voice has to match the music. Floor is only human and she brings her own sound and personality to night wish . thats great bands need to grow and mature . but i dont have to like the new sound always . thats why im happy to listen to the older songs has some of the new stuf ...

I love Tarja. Nightwish with her it's like Medieval Magic. There's something special about that. That said, Floor did bring greatness to the band again. She's like an Amazon. (Sorry, Nightwish with Annette it's really not my cup of tea).

Personally I like Floor the most. Tarja is operatic every time all the time, and that’s fine, she has a great operatic voice. But Floors amazing multi style/range voice blends perfectly with the metal essence of Nightwish. Floor is operatic when the song and the lyrics require so, but will also metal out perfectly, her magnetic and powerful stage presence along with her one of a kind voice helps make the perfect mesh between the Symphonic and Metal essences of Nightwish as a whole. I kinda liked Nightwish in their Tarja years, I thought the band and the musical arrangements were amazing but to be honest Tarja never did much for me, great operatic voice but I felt didn’t quite fit the band most of the time. I truly became a fan when Floor arrived, now I can’t get enough. My favorite all time band and my favorite all time lead singer. Of course this is but only my humble opinion. 🤟🤟✌️✌️

Floor is never trying to copie Tarja. She is always telling a story. That's what I love because it's so importent to get someones feelings

@@michaelshort2388 ... i believe you are conflating the two issues..if you believe that Floor provides more emotional delivery than you are entitled to your perception but just because an artist no longer wishes to remain in a group which, she feels is no longer meeting her needs and wishes to go solo, does not preclude her from being a very emotional performer, as she was for me and a legion of fans to who loved her desperately...and still do...there is no connection without a strong emotional component as Tuomas learned when the fans descended upon him right after his infamous posting

Tarja's pure operatic vocal are beautiful, but sometimes I feel like Tarja gets too caught up in her vibrato and loses pace with the instruments. Anette could have fronted any 80's rockband, easily! She's lighter, brighter and her annunciation is clearer than Tarja...but she just hasn't got (or doesn't demonstrate) the vocal range to partner with the instrumentation, it's not full enough. My own personal opinion is that Floor is the singer the band was waiting for, she is the Goldilocks zone. She has the vocal range and style range that can take be light, airy, operatic, rock , deep, dark, growly, and she can do it all in one phrase without trashing her vocal chords. She is spectacular. Oh and Marco

For me....... FLOOR. No contest. Not a dis to the other ladies. Especially not Tarjia. But Floor really elevated the whole bands sound, as if it could be raised higher. Great vid you guys. Enjoyed the hell out of it.

I love Tarjas Version but I think Floors is the best to me. Her range, the emotion...unreached. I always had the feeling that Floor is the first singer who enjoys singing those songs. If you see them live, you have never seen the band happier than since Floor joined. I always felt that tere was a distance between Tarja and the band, like she seem unreacheble. Floor seems to sing with the band. Annette was Ok and all versions were great but Floors is the one that stands out to me. Thank you for this respectful comparison. Great reaction.

Yes in addition. I think nobody has a voice like Floor. Even her opera voice is unique, like in Shoemaker. I like Anette studio version of this song better than Tarjas version.She has cute innocence in her voice and it fits to this romantic but fast song(oxymoron? ) .Floor made a different version of this song, powerful and it fit with the music. Overall I like Anette's interpretation equally, but Floor nailed it vocally. I know that Tuomas is genious and did that intentionally.Lyrics of this song seems to be romantic but like a cry of despair, love failure,regret, deceptive hope at the same time. That's why tempo of song is so fast and music intense,and vocal also should be powerful and not like mother singing to you. Maybe I'm more objective cause I discover Nightwish not so long time ago.But everyone has their own taste. Floor's version is my favourite.

That was great thank you for uploading. I grew up with Tarja and will always love it. I am so happy to be able to enjoy Floors era now. We Nightwish fans are just lucky.

Definitely Foor Jansen, I really love Tarja, the only NW show here in my country was back in the 2000s BUT man... Floor brought this song to another level, with Floor this music goes inside me, I hear this music with my entire body man, I really wish I could have been there in waken 2013... probably the best show from NW until now.

Floor’s performance gave me chills from top to bottom. Truly.

Bearing in mind this song was specifically written for Tarja's voice and speciality. I personally prefer Floors voice because I heard her sing this song first. Isn't life wonderful in that we can all decide what we like, imagine if we all like one thing. Love your reactions. I am a 54year old woman who has only recently found Nightwish, although my son has been trying to get me into this band for years. Hello from South Africa

@@supermiha2004 actually I found out about Nightwish in 1998 or 1999 and I loved Tarja's operatic voice but I really loved what Floor did in wacken 2013 to those songs especially Ghost love score and EverDream. Tarja's voice introduced me to symphonic metal and thats makes her special to me but Floor's version on some old Nightwish songs really make them suit my taste more.but still some songs still belong Tarja like Nemo and Sleeping sun.

I have seen Nightwish live few times, first time with Tarja. Never touched me and didin't listen to the music that time. Anette got me listening to Nightwish and now with Floor listening every day. Saw them in Tampere 2015, what an emotional ride it was! Thank you Tuomas, Marko, Emppu, Floor and Kai🙌. I do have two tickets already for their shows, waiting patiently for them to come to Oulu in Finland for the Human Nature's release gig ♥️😄.

I just found NW a few months ago, got hooked on Floor, cursorily checked out Tarja and Annette but the real magic is with Floor at the mic.

Floor Jansen for the WIN. She is just a beautiful monster vocally - while still making you feel the emotion of every song. Unmatched.

I think every singer in Nightwish is unique in their own style and give the band its different colors. Tarja was my first love. I remembering hearing Wishmaster album in high school and thinking "wow, THIS is what I was looking for". Then Anette came and being used to Tarja for years I had some trouble in adapting to its completely different style in DPP, but it was an experience and it had very, very good moments. Then Imaginaerum came, my all time favorite NW album. Anette really shined in this one for me, its production, the care they put on arrangements, orchestra, everything... Just mindblowing. And then well, what to say about Floor... Her performance on Wacken 2013 was from another planet. Before that I never went too much into their shows with the exception of End of an Era, but man... Wacken was a game changer for me. So yes. In my opinion, all 3 of them make Nightwish amazing their own way, with the whole band there making that possible too. Great video, I love you guys. Tara's style is more gothic. With her accent, her outfits and how she moves on the stage, she could play in a vampire movie and win an Oscar! Annette's style is more 'Miami Vice'. Floor's style is more Nightwish. I like all three versions!

I totally disagree. Tarja's voice was the band's trademark for 10 years and one of the main reasons they became super popular (and hardcore fans will never accept that) Floor suits better on heavier stuff like ReVamp.

Hey guys, thanks for this! I came in contact with Nightwish when Anette was there. I fell in love with the band and started listening to older Nightwish and loved it too. Then Wacken 2013 happened and I was floored. The diversity and stage presence that Floor commands is simply amazing. A true metalhead to the core with the ability to go from growljng to opera. Like you said, all three are great singers, but for me personally, Floor (and Troy who was officially added to the band at the same time as Floor) completes Nightwish. Hi my loves ^_^/ I feel that I have to address a few things😌 In my most HUMBLEST opinion EVAH, for ME, It's not about who sings better: It is who's voice fits this particular song more, you know? When I close my eyes... The feeling I get from Tarja is haunting, alluring and emotional and I feel like she is telling a story; I am a part of that story. When I close my eyes and hear Floor, I hear a powerful goodness singing--also with emotion and beautifully, but for me... And for THIS particular song... The haunting beauty of Tarja's voice just seems to make more sense! 🤷🏾‍♀️ It is not a slight to Floor-- something a lot of you don't seen to understand. BOTH singers are exquisite and in a league of their own! This reaction was NOT about who is better; it is about who's voice *I* prefer to hear singing this song. Listen... I am a NW fan, ALSO. Being a fan of the group, or a fan of one singer over another, should not mean that other fans would not have their own opinion AND/OR be able to EXPRESS it openly, as we have done on this reaction, lol. My only issue with the reaction was that Anette's version is the demo before she joined Nightwish, her audition 'tape' demo using musicians from Alyson Avenue IIRC It would have been more appropriate to compare a live Nightwish featuring Anette e.g Gampel (Switzerland) 2008 performance - kzread.info/dash/bejne/c56G2M-pZa67oZc.html

Tarja to me is always going to be the reason why I love Nightwish. Their 5 albums with Tarja are incredible. Albums 2 through 5 are the best stuff from Nightwish that is mainly their live catalog of songs. Sacrament of Wilderness, Crownless, Wishmaster and so on. Tarja to me will always be Nightwish, and I love Floor Jansen, ever since 2002 with Star One. Are you giving it a thumbs up, if the reactor's opinion is aligned with your opinion? Unfortunately there seem to be a lot of Floor fanatics these days. Just few days ago, they down voted very nice reaction to original Ghost Love Score, just because it was a wrong version for them. That version was probably asked, or even paid for them (or someone forgot to put precise version they want...which seems to be the case most of the time). Sometimes they down vote, when reactor didn't like some NW song (which Floor sang). I'm not sure what is the logic for doing this. New reactors might get "scared", and not do a another NW reaction again. If they would do more of their songs, they might end up loving them. Then again, if person is genuinely interested about Nightwish, why wouldn't they want to check their older stuff...at least I would. So I really can't understand this kind of fanaticism. I know there are fanatics on both sides, but way too many of them are standing by Floor's side. Next time before you down vote, you should think if the reaction was respectful or not. And think of this also, none of these lovely ladies want you to sow "bad blood".

I appreciate Anette's time in Nightwish, she really brought forth a very unique sound, that sounded good for the music that was written for her. Nightwish - Scaretale is an example of that. For Tarja songs, Anette's version of Planet Hell is crazy. React to Nightwish - Planet Hell (Official Live) And her version of Ghost Love Score was pretty good too. Nightwish - Ghost Love Score @ Hartwall Arena. It's not professionally recorded, but it's still good.

Floor has a versatile voice, for me it's the best singer in Nightwish.

Anette was great for studio, but lacked that amazing on stage presence and talent. Their 2 albums with her though are arguably some of their best

I have to agree on this. The are probably my favorite albums they've done. It just showed me that Tomas can make anybody sound good. I'm not saying I didn't like Anette, just she really didn't have the voice for Nightwish imo. I do like her in The Dark Element thought.

16:35 I didn't notice that Marko was singing the original melody of the previous choruses ^_^ well... maybe because I haven't watched this video :P I tend to prefer Tarja in the studio over live, and this one is no exception :P she's excellent live, but her singing style is different and is not my taste. I started listening to them after they fired Tarja and were searching for a new singer. Soon after that, I started listening to After Forever. Now Floor is my fav on Nightwish :) Her voice feels more 'like home' to me, also because she sings with a softer/warmer voice with Nightwish, compared to After Forever and ReVamp.

True! I started listening to Nigthwish exactly 20 years ago. I loved the studio versions but I hated her live performances, her singing style was NOT the same as the studio versions. Even her accent was not the same while singing live!! Floor is more experessive and feels more authentic to any songs. Maybe it is a matter of maturity/experience, maybe if Tarja had stayed with Nightwish until this day her lives would have been better of these songs. We will never know. But imo, back then, they were not. I appreciate all 3 singers and I prefer Floor \m/

@@kimberlyh.1090 Yup...a real expert here.😒 God it has nothing to do with being able to sing operatic notes classical notes, very high and beautiful singing while also being able to belt. Into some very powerful and huge notes. And even raspy vocals and growls. Oh but wait. Marco does more gritty and rough belted notes and doesn't growl. And Tarja is a different kind of Soprano with different strengths. So therfore I guess there's no similarities at all!! Or any logic behind the statement....🙄🙄🙄 Note to self: Remember and repeat. Even before I listened to this, my choice was Floor. After I listened I´m even more convinced. She has something in her voice that puts tears my eyes, tears of joy this time :)

It still is a question of taste but in my opinion Floor has made Nightwish a lot more complete. Also her emotion in singing and performance makes Nightwish even more unique. Also i noticed that sinds Floor joyned Nightwish there's much more fun and friendship in the band. Floor has mentioned that Nightwish is her familly and that you can see in everything on stage. But everyone must respect the choice of another who they prefer. Kind regards from the Netherlands 🤟😘

My thoughts exactly!! From the old liveshows you can sort of feel the tensions between them.. not smiling that much and.. and also... I can’t help it but it hurts my ears when I hear tarja’s ”Finglish”. She is amazing singer and very talent vocalist. And here comes the BUT... you can see it so clearly nowadays what the chemistry between the members is! Smiling, playing around, making jokes and you can see the love that They have for eachother. Seeing Tuomas smiling and beeing happy just gives me life after I know the struggle he went through. She saved the band and made it what it is today. Bigger than ever!! Lots of love from Finland

And Tuomas has stated that If floor decides to leave the band Nightwish is gone. There wont be a fourth singer. I can understand that because there is no one in this planet who comes even close to floor and her talent. I think it’s a right decision.

than Marco or Troy should have used their average voices to lead Nightwish...right into the ash heap of history...ask Tuomas how indispensible he considered Tarja to be to Nightwish's survival..thus his anger at her for deciding to go solo

I claim the Floor Battalion in the Nightwish Army, but all three of these ladies are so fantastic in their respective ways.

Floor is just so enchanting its insane. And why so many dislikes Nightwish army?! That ain't it. They put so much work into this and you get all 3 interpretations in one reaction. What is there not to like? I also noticed you just open with Two Steps From Hell?! And that is another one of my all time favourites. Loving the new hairstyle !!! This song has very special meaning to me because it takes me back at least 16 years, I used to listen to Century Child before going to bed and this song is just entwined with the memory. So that is Tarja's version that just goes straight to my late childhood. And with all respect to Anette, her version just doesn't work for me at all. And Floor, well, Floor live overshadows Tarja's studio versions. I'm sure there is a nicer way of saying that but tell me you can go back and appreciate the album version of Ghost Love Score like you used to after you have seen and listened to Ghost Love Floor at Wacken

The song sounds so slow with Tarja, I miss the dynamics that Floor brings to the song. there is a great built up in the song with her. i miss that with Tarja.

To me also it felt like a bit different tempo (TT slower, Floor faster) - so I checked it, (tapping the tempo button of my Dr.Rhythm, along the songs) and they're both the same: if there's any difference it's VERY minimal. So maybe it's Jukka's 2013 fills @ the breakdown are more adrenaline-inducing.. 😃 (16:04 vs. 32:37)

I love both of them, but I've been following Nightwish since Tarja's Era and this is her song. It almost sounds too high for Floor, she basically screams at times, especially at the ending.

Dynamics?...Tarja is spinning all around, and piercing the sky with her powerful vocals, but if you noticed a difference in tempo than Tuomas is your man, because all arrangements were made by Tuomas, for both versions

@@lastword9475 Agreed! And I guess the "build up" she's referring to, it's the screaming I talked about. We all love Floor, but there are too many new fans that don't know Tarja and the original versions. Not every song sounds better with Floor. For my ears, everything from Wishmaster and before, sound better with Tarja's voice, and even some from CC and Once as well. For instance, I think Tarja's dark tone fits "Wish I had an Angel" way better than Floor's.

i think who you hear sing a song first makes a big difference in how you perceive it as being the "right way". my first time hearing "Everdream" was Floor's version, along with most of the Wacken setlist. the exception being "Amaranth", i saw the video when it fist came out. i'm just not a fan of Tarja's all-opera-all-the-time style. i like Floor's agility with her tone and placement.

Not really. I fell in love with the band since Tarja's era. Heard all of the songs from her era with her first. And I definitely prefer Floor's versions on at least 80% to most of them. I think maybe only planet hell and I wish I had an angel I prefer Tarja's studio version (as oppose to the live version). And if course all of the songs that have only been played by her. Same goes to Annette. I was not a fan of her singing old songs, and she's okay in most of her songs. But most of them I prefer them with Floor as well. Except of course the ones that have only been sung by her. But that's my personal preference.

I do think you have a point about people having a preference for the version/singer that is their first experience. I'm that way with some Nightwish songs too. However, I heard the Tarja version of Ever Dream long before Floor was in the band, but I still prefer Floor for this one.

I discovered the band on Floor's era, I heard Tarjar's version of this song first, actually this and Nemo were the first Tarja songs I heard, I totally fell in love with her all-opera-all-the-time style, I definitely think this is definitely one of those songs that simply were made for Tarja's voice and it shows, I love Floor's ability to sing everything but Tarja's songs sang by Tarja are just so magical to me

Love Annette's Amaranth... it was made for her. Love Tarja on Once and Wishmaster... that was brilliant. But Floorgasms exist for a reason! Floor the Valkyrie Goddess!

A little shocked by some of the comments in here. I guess I've just seen so many years of positivity with the NW Army that it was bound to start crumbling eventually. I'm blaming 2020. Opinions, I understand but why the hostility, why the viciousness? Nightwish is something that we all, presumably, love. There is no need to tear someone down because they are not in lock step agreement with your opinion. There is no need to hate on Tarja, Annette or Floor because this one or that one isn't your favorite. There is wonder and beauty to be found in all of their albums. I've been listening to them since 1998 and they have gotten me through so many tough times- it's just hard for me to imagine that someone who loves and "gets" this band could be capable of some of the rhetoric that I've seen on display in this comment section and some others recently.

I don't care who sings as long as it is Tuomas who write the music!! His lyrics and the way he composes every song is amazing.

Before listening to Floor sing the old songs I didn't realize how much Tarja uses her vibrato and how now it even bothers me a bit 😁 I think it has happened to many of us that we prefer Floor's voice because she plays with her vocal range and gives to the songs new feelings and moments I enjoy the old songs even more

Floor told in an interview how she adjusted her opera techniques to fit the end of the Shoemaker song. She said it had to be just right, neither too much nor too little. This ability to control her vibrato has been Tarja's biggest shortcoming since the beginning.

Hey Wolf, hey Sistah. For me, Floor's voice fits the song better. Not just because of the harmony between her and Marco, but because of what the song itself is about, which is the emotions one goes through when one is in love, romantically, with another person. Given that, Floor's vocals, coupled with Jukka's drumwork, seem to portray the feelings of frustration (Jukka) with desperation (Floor). The song almost seems like the one who is in love, is at the point where if the one they love doesn't return those feelings, then their world will seemingly fall apart. But as you say, that's just my 2 cents, lol.

Tarja always... Old Nightwish songs Tuomas created for Tarja perfect operatic voice.no floor no ceiling no one can deliver this emotion better than the queen Tarja.

They all have songs wherein they excel. No need to put one behind the other. Keep in mind Tarja has only ever sung her own songs in Nightwish. While I love Tarja at least as much as the others, you gotta give credit to them for also handling songs that weren't theirs to begin with.

For me Floor is like the whole violin section, and her effect on me is like a warrior companion on a quest, she inspires me, makes me able to for an extra mile or 10. I feel I can go through solid rock. Anette sounds like a guitar or mandolin, I feel I can sigh the stress away by the campfire with her, Or in an inn by the road, when I rest my weary bones by the fireplace, she would curl in my armpit to purr. Tarja sounds like a flute, she makes me dream, fly with the stars. She makes a sky walker. I feel I can fly, I'm walking in the air with her.

I had never listened to Everdream by Tarja or Anette before today. I have to say that I didn't feel that they were good enough to hold my attention. but the moment you put Floors version on I got goosebumps. Something about her voice gets my endorphins pumping. Floor has made me a Nightwish addict. I feel that they are the finest band I have ever heard. They stand right up there with led Zepplin and Pink Floyd and even the Rolling stones. Seeing them in concert has now become the most important quest in my life. I don't have much time because I am 64 years old.

There's few NW duets where Tarja and Floor sing together (i.e Bless my child duet) Annettes NW song: "Meadows of heaven" has in the past two months been on YT in many channels to honor memory of deceased Ann Waycroft... There's no need to compete or share medals... They have all been Nightwish lead singers - that's enought for me

I agree to disagree. Lets be honest, floor is the evolution of nw, its next level, she has it all, and marco and floor as a duo are impeccable, hands down. Its just my opinion.

The reason people dislike is because they are part of Floor. Floor is a wonderful kind, humble and beautiful singer. She is versatile and a great performer. Floor is more than a singer, though. That is why people feel 'betrayed' maybe? She saved Nightwish. Anette just had bad luck to be a 'interim singer'. Still, she has a wonderful voice. Tarja is Tarja. The start of an era. Great opera. Big voice. Less versatile and certainly not the podium beast Floor is. In classic parts she exceeds the other two big time. BTW, I always give you a 'like' for your in depth analyses. No exception now! Keep it up & many thanks.

Anette does a beautiful job with songs like Sleeping Sun and Dead Boys Poem. She brings so much sweetness and innocence to them. 'The Heart Asks Pleasure First' and of course 'Meadows of Heaven' are other great examples. Greetings 🤘🏽

I love all the three versions but I go with Tarja too. The darkness in her voice brings another vibe to the band and brings to me memories of another Era. The contrast with Marco's voice is a big part of this song.

My Nightwish suggestions in the Tarja era: Beauty and the Beast Elvenpath Wishmaster Passion and the Opera Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan Slaying the Dreamer The Siren Planet Hell Floor is excellent but I prefer the version of Tarja.

And "beauty of the beast" I say, it is so underrated song, and for me in top 10 of all nightwish. I mean all nightwish really :))

My preference would be Floor as she delivered a more emotional response she blended better with Marko. So delivery speaking in totality Floor would be better. Tarjia being the first will be the emotional choice yet Floor delivered a emotional response tying the band and audience together

Longtime NW fan checking in here. I have had the Tarja bias as well. She is a legend, she is phenomenal, and it brings back memories for me too, hearing her. But Floor absolutely wins this for me. Come on, it's really not even close. Those notes at the end that Floor belts out? Please go re-listen to that a few more times. She is unmatched. I have never heard a vocal performance like this before. I almost want to compare Floor's last part with Celine Dion, but imo she outdoes even Celine here. The only section I would say I might have a preference for Tarja is the opening, before the band kicks in. From then on, it's all Floor. I do love Tarja singing style and her unique tone. What Floor brings is not just that raw power and phenomenal vocal capabilities, but she also brings so much emotion, along with versatility and even an improved story-telling in this song (as well as she does in other songs). For example, listen to how Floor finishes the line "For my taste, for my lust" - she puts her own vocal inflection on "for my lust" that the others don't. Tarja, sings great, and it's not a problem for me at all (I can listen to Tarja all day, don't get me wrong). But she does stay within her own style of singing and doesn't diverge from it. Whereas with Floor, you get the classical operatic style, you get the powerful belting, you get the dramatics, the inflections in voice and tone, you get shouting and fierceness. But most of all for me with Floor is that you get so much diversity and a mix of a range of styles from her. And it isn't like she's doing it to show off and show that she's capable of it. To me, she matches the style with what the song calls for perfectly. For me Floor put on an unparalleled vocal CLINIC at Wacken 2013. It's one of the greatest musical performances of all time, across any genre. Again, I love Tarja, I'm an old-school long time fan of the band. But this is no contest. Floor Floor Floor. \m/

My favorite version is End of an Era. It’s by far the most emotional considering Tuomas wrote the song for Tarja and it was the last time she sang it. Don’t get me wrong, I adore all three singers but nothing compares to Tarjas version

Floor Jansen is the Goddess, the Valkyrie... She commands us all!

It seems that not many people know Floor is a High Sensitive Person (her own statement). High sensitivity, also called HSP, appears to occur in about 20% of the population. It is a unique quality (not an illness or condition)! Highly sensitive people have the ability to process sensory stimuli in a different and unique way. Often they are intuitive, highly sensitive to the atmosphere and are able to read and estimate people. Floor uses this fully to her advantage in her singing and performing, better yet, she made an art form out if it (my personal believe). This explains partly why Floor is so overwhelmingly power full in her performances. Her overwhelming talent, incredible voice, warm and humble personality, flawless technique and hard work is amplified by her highly developed sensitive side...(if you ask me)... and of course she is fueled by the enthusiasm of the Nightwish fans... Floor just brings everything to another level, unreachable for most singers... she really connects you to the songs...

It is funny how hard it is for people to admit when they like Tarja. I mostly agree what you said and prefer Tarja in this song. And I think it is good to knowledge that the time difference is almost 10 years. Music changes in that time. NW changed. And I have to say Floor fits the band better than Tarja would right now. It's not hard to admit Tarja is great and a lot of people like her singing. But what has become very clear to me when I have heard Anette and Floor is that Tarja has terrible, I mean really terrible, english pronunciation. Tarja has a beautiful voice but her english bothers me, Anette fits better in another rock band in another genre that is not power metal, but Floor is just pure talent all over the board.

This was interesting for me as well, as i heard floors version for the first time too. Normallly i am always with Tarja, due to her unique voice, but for this song, i think it benefits more from Floors versatility, than from Tarjas unique and epicness.

That dramatic delivery, especially at the end,Floor takes it up and gives it more feeling. Floor owns it.

But a song that's made for an opera voice is just the best with an opera voice, not with another one. Floor does it well, but will never reach the needed voice. She is mainstream and rocky, but not operatic, or at least not operatic enough. I don't need a mainstream traditional voice in a song, that's made for an operatic voice.

She is an incredible opera singer but nothing else, where Floor might be mainstream or metal, but she can absolutely sing operatic and classical (evethough not as good as Tarja of course). Take Stargazers, or Sleeping Sun for example. Songs written for operatic vocals and Floor can sing them pretty well, again not like Tarja of course I know, but she CAN deliver. Do you think Tarja can sing let's say, Romanticide, or Song to Myself?... And also for me, some old songs Floor sings them even better than Tarja, like Ghost Love Score or Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean. Of course that's my taste and you probably don't agree with it, but in my ears she blends classical and mainstrean/metal singing, giving to those songs an extra dimension

To all Flooraholics out there: Tarja era was the best NW era by far without a doubt. Unfortunately youtube gave birth to a new horde of posers that think they know everything, it’s disgusting. This new nightwish fans have no respect what so ever to the history of the band and they think Floor is some kind of a untouchable entity. Well let me tell you something, I love Floor since the first albums of After Forever which in my opinion is better than anything NW ever did, but let’s respect the facts: Floor is just singing the NW classics that Tarja created (melodies and harmonies, I know the megalomaniac/selfish tuomas writes everything). So before y’all posers talk shit on top of shit get your facts straight and give some respect to the history of the band!

All that I can say is that I had listened to some Nightwish in the nineties, but it never grabbed me, only when I heard performances from Wacken 2013 recently, did I rediscover them with Floor and am now a fan, so for me Tarja's operatic style never grabbed me. I have the Decades compilation CD with the original recordings with Tarja, but after buying the Wacken, Wembley & Buenos Aires live CDs, I never felt the need to go back to Tarja's or Anette's versions. I understand that art is a question of taste and life experiences, so I do not have a problem with someone preferring Tarja.

Yeap! I loved Nightwish since 2000 and I have all their studio albums and back then I adored Tarjas voice but I hated, hated her live performances. She tended to go full operatic (btw I love opera) in a bad kinda way imo. Floor breathed new life to all those songs I had heard a million times in the past and I have never felt the need to listen to any of the older versions. \m/

I don't think you realize that Floor does not want to sound like Tarja. She wants her own sound. She can do it more operatically but I believe she is more comfortable doing her own interpretation. She wants it to be different than Tarja so it stands out as her own. Also Tarja is not near as versatile as Floor. Floor can do many different genres or styles. I don't believe Tarja would sound as good as Floor on last 2 albums done by Floor with Nightwish.

Floor can sing all earlier music and sound beautiful. I doubt Tarja or Annette can do the same with the two latest Nightwish albums.

@@kimberlyh.1090 ah that is actually not true, she does it quit often but only when it suits her, there's a reason she did O Mio Babbino Caro so many times, or why she chose Vilja Lied on Beste Zangers, or why she did so much of it with AfterForever & ReVamp.she & the band chose to sing many of the Tarja songs differently so Floor can put her technique on them so they convey something different .

A lot of people seem to misunderstand this. I have no interest in Floor sounding like Tarja. She can't sound like Tarja because she doesn't have her tone or accent. No I want Floor to sound like Floor, I just want it done bigger and more operatic. That is just my opinion, but that is how I like my old Nightwish songs to be sung. And I only ask because I KNOW Floor can do it and I'm a little annoyed that we somehow have to feel like we have to avoid it for fears of a Tarja comparison. Everyone keeps speaking on how it's more "warm" this way and Tarja is "cold". I could not disagree more. It kind of just sounds like people aren't that crazy about the operatic style of singing.

I think we need to use a broader lens on the Nightwish singers. Thomas specifically wrote for the individual singer. Now if we look at the entire back catalogue of their songs and then try to imagine Tarja singing Annette era songs and Annette navigating all Tarja era songs, we can quickly establish that both would be unable to pull it off. - This is Floors great gift to all eras of Nightwish, she can literally do it all. Picture the 2018 decades tour being fronted by either Tarja or Annette and it becomes clear how insanely versatile and skilled Floor is. She is the true “Swiss army knife” of singing.

Preferred Floor's version and her voice over Tarja's just, but what I was surprised by was how good Anette's "demo" version was. 3 brilliant singers :)

Lot of voice overs in the demo which makes it decent. Live she doesn't have this help.

I had never heard Annette's version of this, and I gotta say, I really liked it! But then, I like Annette. It's too bad her vocal type didn't exactly like up with Nightwish, but I've heard some of her other work and it's wonderful! Its funny that Wolf was describing the accent and tone of Tarja as being what draws him to her. Those are the exact traits that turn me off. Her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. And that frustrates the hell out me. I so badly want to like her voice, because the bulk of the Nightwish catalog is unlistenable for me. Floor is everything, in my opinion. Her range, versatility, bravery and personality seal the deal.

I completely agree. Nails on a chalkboard! Unlistenable. And here I thought it was just me who had this problem!

It's fascinating how we all associate different voice types to different emotions. To you guys Tarja sounds motherly, where as in my opinion she has more a dark, almost mean, super dramatic voice. I would never call that motherly in a comforting sense, to me she could play the part of an evil queen or a wicked witch of the forest. And don't get me wrong, it's a stunning sound and an amazing effect, there is some true power in it and almost scary beauty in it. But I don't get that sense of comfort. To me Floor's voice, when she sings softly, she has that warm, loving tone that I associate to a motherly voice. The kind of tone that makes me connect with her singing emotionally. I love both singers for different reasons. Tarja for the drama and Floor for the feels. My problem with Tarja is that her voice fit so unbelievably well to some songs but not so much the others. It's either absolutely perfect or not really my thing, but there is no middle ground for me. Floor on the other hand can sing anything really well. She's overall a better fit just because she's so versatile. She's made the songs her own and never seems to make a bad choice. But then there are Tarja songs where I can't imagine anyone ever being able to reach the same level of beauty, like Swanheart. But then again, I haven't heard Floor try, so who am I to say. Anette - I don't really want to say much. Poor Anette, she did the best she could, she was the wrong choice in the first place, her voice just didn't fit the (old) music, and that's not her fault. But she has her moments too, Imaginaerum is a great album with some gems in there and some of Tuomas' best work is on that album, which was written for her voice and her vocal agility made writing those possible. They all excel in such different things that it's incredible they all fronted the same band.

Floor = Expression. She doesn't just sing a song, she lives and breathes it - which reaches right into your very soul, a gift that not many have. It flows through every fibre of her being and she breathes life into what can only be described as an experience. Floor is pitch perfect and has the most exquisite resonance. Tarja's voice is well suited to some Nightwish tracks but I don't feel the expression in it, it seems to lack strength where it needs it and from an opera perspective is more about the theatre of the song, than the song itself. Power doesn't always come from belting, power can also be very quiet; it comes through expression and Floor has it.

One more comment about Tarja and Floor. Compare the last choruses after they changed key. You'll notice that, just as with Ghost Love Score, Floor pumps out the high notes like it's no effort at all. Tarja actually changes the melody of the chorus so she doesn't have to go that high.

@@lastword9475 Tarja does hit the high notes on the album Century Child. But not live. Arranged by Tuomas? Then ask yourself why he had to make that change for the live performance, and discarded that change when Floor took over. In fact, after reading, your other comment, never mind. It's clear we're dealing with a fanboy here. You won't accept any criticism on Tarja anyway, even if it's just a matter of taste.

@@ArumesYT .. it happened all the time in her era..one of her complaints was just that he allowed her very little control over the artistic process...lucky for us, Tarja's live performances were generally harder to control; but not always...he does the same with Floor...for 116 years, with her former bands, she sang far more robustly, wrote her own lyrics and co-produced the arrangements, but once she joined Nightwish, she sudden;y started a different singingstyle and no longer feels the desire to write lyrics

@@SnakeM98 This entire video is about Ever Dream, so my argument is 100% valid. Other songs are not relevant. I mentioned pros and cons of both singers on reactions of other songs.

*It depends on the era and the particular song. "Ever Dream" and "Amaranth" are the two songs where I still prefer the original versions. With "Nemo" I still like the original version the most, but the "Floor Live"-version is now almost head to head with the original. I still like the original 1999-version of "Sleeping Sun" the most [incl. musical arrangement and style], For me I still choose "Ghost Love Score" [Live from Buenos Aires 2012] over the Wacken 2013-version. [Both Floor, as you all know]*

I really loved this reaction. I also pick Tarja on this one. Floor's version is great, but I just love how Tarja sings it. I am biased, because I have been their fan since Oceanborn (1998), but I don't think that is affecting my decision here. I really love Floor, but there are still many songs where I prefer Tarja, and I'm sure that some of those are because of nostalgia points.

Goosebumbs..only with Floor

I think what pushes Floor over the edge from the other two is if you want operatic, Floor and Tarja can both sing it. I can’t picture Tarja singing this song like Floor. That’s what has made them more of broader appeal. Nightwish hit a plateau with Tarja and would not have been able to grow to what they are now without a vocalist who could sing the older songs with just enough of the operatic tones to hold onto the older fans and give them more of a rock sensibility to draw in newer fans. KZread has proven that just through every reaction channel that has played their songs. Not one channel has reacted to more Tarja videos. That speaks volumes of Floor’s acceptance from old and new fans.

When Tarja left the band she also left a huge hole in my heart which Annette didn't have the vocals to heal. I had followed them since the release of Wishmaster and suddenly I couldn't listen to a single Nightwish song without a deep and profound sense of sadness. When I discovered that they had replaced Anette with Floor I decided it was time to give them another go and not only was I finally able to listen to everything Tarja had ever done, but I've also been able to slowly dig into the studio albums from Anette. Floor healed my broken metal heart and I'm forever grateful. Now if only the stupid beer-bug would go away and let me go to the concert in Antwerp in November!

I've been listening to Nightwish since Tarja's era, heard them all live singing this song, and I must say that all three singers brought something new to it. If I must put it in words, I would say: Tarja sang it like a lover (she makes a perfect match with Marco - in terms of voices - and they sound like two lovers singing this song - they both wonder if their better-half dreams about them); Anette sang it with a really beautiful sad tone (she feels sad that her love is not matched - seems like "he" doesn't even know she exists); Floor sang it from sad to almost "rage" (her voices grows and becomes more powerful with each choir, and she turns her sadness to a scream/cry for "his" attention, she wants "him" to listen to her). Well, that's my opinion. Thanks again for the reaction and your wonderful company,. Sorry for the long text - Sistah doesn't like it much :p. As always, love you guys! :)

Anette's "cheek" sounds as Swedish as can be. Wacken as a whole is by far the best of these three versions. Wacken version was the 2nd, 1st was GLS, Nightwish song/performance I totally fell in love with. That affects my opinion. Floor's voice flows so nicely. It' not just because of Floor but the whole band.

Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with how the two previous singers sang it, but I just don't get emotionally invested in the songs they way I do when floor sings it. With the previous ones I'm just like "yea that's nice" with floor I'll be crying like a baby lol

15:45 About that clean tone of Emppu. I heard other reactors mention it as well. Most guitarists prefer a certain amount of distortion because it'll cover up their mistakes. I'm not a guitar player myself, but apparently it takes a lot of skill and guts to do such a clean tone live because you'll hear every mistake he makes. Which he doesn't ofcourse. :-)

I remember rocking out to this on your stream! It's nice to look back on that memory. Especially because my neck was soooo sore the next day :D Each singer has their own approach to the song. Personally, I prefer Floor (mainly because Tarja's too operatic and Anette's too poppy for me) but I understand where you two are coming from. Wolf especially because of his personal journey with Tarja's era of Nightwish.

Yay! More Nightwish :P My first album that I ever listened to of Nightwish was once, and this was one of the songs that I just loved so much. Oh man, watching the live version of EoaE again after so many years and knowing all the things we know... I am really starting to have a theory... but anyways. If I had a time machine, I'd want to go back to 2013 and attend their show at Wacken. That must have been such magic in person, the footage always gives me goosebumps and my first time seeing the video after a friend told me "Oh hey, Nightwish has a new singer and she's pretty good". That was an emotional day.

I always wanted to hear Anette perform the Tarja songs and always assumed I'd never heard them because she couldn't match Tarja's performances. I never knew about the demo songs but I'm super keen to listen to them. I'd love to have heard her sing them live.

No doubt Floor ❤️ She has it all...
