@@deepstrike9750 pony island is a sort of purgatory made by satan to house souls. in this scene, the final scene of the game, you utilize every in-game mechanic you know to lead a stampede of lost souls to heaven. your character is actually a knight, a crusader, so it makes sense for you to lead the charge in game. this isn’t learned until the end though

@deep strike The player character is Theodore, a crusader who was slain by Abu Al-Kindi in 1252. He was barred from Heaven because, well, he was a crusader, and he ended up in a twisted arcade-themed purgatory instead… (Also it’s pretty dang strange that Theodore was born and died hundreds of years before arcades existed, and yet he’s able to play an arcade game and use a chat system with little to no instruction, as well as reprogram the entire system to save the other damned souls…)

(OPIC later) Ever since OPIC created the game, they considered it their Magnum Opus - perfect, unsurpassable creation. Ever since, they tried to mass produce and redistribute it everwhere...but, alas, it wasn't destined to happen. So, they made a deal with Devil - every 1000th soul of players is his, in return for mass fame. OPIC just happened to play 999th time before the deal, and on next playtrough became inprisoned, in their own game. Think about it - how mere soul of player might know how the game works, ON SUCH DEEP LEVEL? And has that mighty attacks, usage of "Devil's" prototypes? Prototypes are either minigames, or other games of same thematic inside machine.

Hopeless soul can actually be the bad guy too. In one of the games secrets, Satan says that he sometimes talks as other people, so if you uninstall the game, you free Satan.

In the end, it doesnt matter how many souls youve lost, all you MUST do is save louie, and less importantly kill satan, he cant have any souls when he's dead can he?

It's impossible not to lose souls. Lucifer kills them in the background, the ponies behind you don't have any wings to avoid additional damage.
