To me, the Panda Circus screen reads more like a joke teaser then an actual one, kinda like the taunt at the end of Hotline Miami 2 where if you sit long enough after the credits, you'll get transported to the menu screen for Hotline Miami 3, with everything being a barren wasteland, which is kinda of a jab at people who want sequels even when there's nothing to make a sequel about. Same here, except this is like a world where this sorta inclination is rewarded and your future is to play Lucifer's meaningless sequels.

There's actually a second reason they added that screen- apparently a fan made a joke to them that the second game should have been called Hotline Miami 3 because it was the 'wrong number', so it was also a cute nod to that joke.

That ending was so stupidly fitting The whole game was senseless violence by unimportant people for evil reasons, and the reward for going trough all of that is literally rendering everything that happened meaningless It's a proportional response to the senseless violence and the only thing that grants some sort of comfort is that all of the terrible circumstances are definitively over

Imo it's more akin to these 1 in 100000 old NES/SNES cartridges that had games pretending to be sequels that were actually romhacks/reskins, like these weird Mario clones.

Otherwise known as: that time Daniel Mullins attempted to match the pace of internet puzzle solvers, only to realize that they feast on new content at the speed of starving piranhas

@@thermophile1695 I wouldn't put it that way, but I do agree that Daniel is a whole lot more interactive with the fans with theories and secret hunting. Scott only confirms theories or teases how close people are to the truth every now and then, he doesn't actively update the games or add in and edit things in his games to follow the fans.

Flem, Just completed this game and stumbled upon the Steam thread by pure chance. I knew there must be something more. I was reading through it and hoped there was a video out there (almost 20 pages of content in that thing). You did it. 4 days ago! Subscribed. Great job, looking forward to more great content!

The end result wasn't actually the most interesting. The hopeless soul betrayal is cool and makes sense.

Can't believe Pony Island 2: Panda Circus is actually happening now. I'm glad I watched this video back when I did, because thanks to it, I was able to lose my shit and laugh so hard when it was actually announced.

Good luck with the Hex one! I tried to recreate it myself since I loved that game, but a lot of the steps outside of the final one are very unclear and hard to replicate. There's a lot of things in the main thread that say "just do this" and you do it and it just doesn't work (for example, the step with duplicating the bottle didn't work in various tests I tried). I would love it if all the concrete info was in one place.

I actually ran into that bottle issue the other day. Apparently it hasn’t worked since April 2019. I got the bottle duplication to work properly after reverting to an old version, so hopefully the rest of the steps work fine too

@@Flemmonade While you're messing with the Hex, do you think you can you figure out what the deal with Entervale is? Typing it in Secrets of Legendaria does something, but its unclear what the point of it is exactly. It lets you get out of bounds in a few ways, but it doesn't seem to solve any puzzles. That, and the phrase "entervale" isn't anywhere in game as far as I can tell, even though Endervale is.

@@TheFuzzyOcelot I’ve considered making a video on the Hex’s secrets too, since a ton of the secrets like the Entervale one aren’t really well documented. As for why people knew to put in Entervale, it was super hidden, and appears on the corrupted attack you get from copying Missingno’s attack with a Mimic Charm. The description’s in binary, but it just says Entervale over and over. So I guess that was the clue for it. I’m not sure if it’s mentioned elsewhere in the game

I had a TON of fun participating and advancing this ARG and loved that he was slamming in new things as fast as we could dig them up, and really, really wish I hadn't missed the ARGs for the hex and Inscryption. I'm really hoping to play along for the next one :) Very excited to see the breakdown on The Hex!

Not only the year 2023 was hinted in the game , they literally just outright told the title "panda circus" within the secrets Thats crazy it was all planned for this long

I love his style too, but the Inscryption ARG & his secrets seem to have extremely lackluster endings. It's like he begins a rabbit hole & instead of leaving something valuable at the end, he just ends it when he can't think of anything more to put there. It's a bit disappointing considering the puzzles & universe are both so interesting.

Thanks I’m glad I could help! That’s a lot of the reason I made these videos. I love lore and secrets like this, but for some reason there’s no videos about them. And the videos that do exist only show the ending. I think the journey’s a lot more interesting than the destination

I love your video style. Especially when you make it seem like you're doing it for the first time, like when you say "maybe we can ask hopeless soul about it?" It just adds to the mystery of the video and it's a completely different approach than I've ever seen. Well done!

And then the beeper lead us to the wacky and fun Inscryption Arg! Woohoo! Seriously it's crazy how far Daniel plans ahead with his games. Some of the clues for the Arg dated all the way back to the Early-Mid 2010s. Man was playing the long game!

They reversed the audio "Let me through, for fuck's sake" Which people thought said "A beeper perhaps" ...How can such a clear message be misheard that badly? Doesnt sound anything like "a beeper perhaps". Which doesnt make sense anyway. Every word is very distinct, at least on the first part for "let me through". The second part could be a place name admittedly. But it was kind of the dev to use the false answer and make it into a correct one.

I remember playing it with a steam emulator (cuz eff running Steam just to play a game) and the game, i kid you not, used the custom friends system from the emulator It just blew my mind because while the emulator has online functionality, you can find 10 ppl tops on popular game (and since the game has no friend addition system, all of them are considered friends as far as the game is concerend), so getting a message in a game like this was terryfying at best since it was with the name of a complete stranger

@@mattpatt4976 -If steam crashes or closes for any reason, the game closes too. -If there's an update queued, you cannot play the game. -Steam has a small but still noticeable impact on performance. -Steam's overlay can mess with games (and yes it can be disabled, but it's just another issue for the pile) -You can't take your games with you between PCs, unless you log in on those PCs (and Steam does not support multiple users logged from the same client so if that other PC already has an account logged in, you have to log off) -If steam is not running, you have to wait until it finishes booting up (which at least now it doesn't bug at random when doing so) before you can play anything. -In offline mode, Steam tends to forget your account, blocking you out of your games until you regain internet and log back in. -Steam's input system is system wide and can cause controllers to produce keyboard inputs in other games and apps even if they aren't from Steam (which wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't so buggy or required big picture to even configure) -If the game uses steam's servers and the client looses it's connection for any reason (specially during maintenance days) the connection is interrupted and often requires reconnecting to the game in question. -The workshop system is inconsistent at best, most of the time doesn't work without internet (deletes the mods already installed, which can screw up saves in modded games) AND to download the mods locally (without relying on the workshop doing so) you need to download SteamCMD separately and look up it's documentation for the commands, THEN look up the mod id and run the command. Instead of just offering a download button in the workshop page. Now compare this to GOG, which has 0 DRM of any kind. You buy a game and you can use it whenever at any time, no third party software required.

12:45 reminds me of an old rumor that in either Shin Megami Tensei 1 or 2 there was apparently a rare chance upon booting the game you’d be greeted the entire screen covered with “すぐにけせ” (translates to “turn off now”) in red text Makes me wonder if it was an inspiration for this secret at all

I assume you did a joke, but either way, the content was added on a later patch update back in the day. So, he added those new pony assets, smashed the keyboard while naming those assets, and changed the iamerror response to give you the name of those assets. So, if you had typed that name on an unity asset extractor tool, you would had get the raw files of those panda assets.

I actually accidentally brute forced it. After I played hex and inscription, I revisited PI and on nearly every screen I moved the mouse to find hidden links. I accidentally opened the gate, and I previously found the David thing, so I was aware of reference to the gate. Neat, I didn't realize there was more to it lol

Dude,.having stuff so hideen in borders super dark is a good way for people to not find stuff you want them to find. Like inscription dude hide stuff in places no one search because you need to basicly 100% inspect every pixel and 01 to even notice them. Not to mention the go back and forth beetween screens separated by 6 menus. I dont know if the guy is clever or just a hard ass, most likly both

@@SpykoYT no, i mean in general, there is a point where if you goo tol hardcore or criptic it would never be found, or people get lost mid way and by sheer coincidence they deviate in this guss chace that isn't there. For example, in inscription,from the same author, you need a code for a cypher, people got it, but by coincidence that it muches: -A 3 digit number used in the game for a safe. -The number of holes on a roof of 2 inclines. So a 5 digit number. Where was the number suposed to be found? -you have to go to the texture filesfor the FLOORS, change the filter, and search for a 3 pixel by 3 pixel size number. Only half the floor textures have numbers and they all arent named "floor", so good luck finding thefiles even!

No idea what this is but im in it for flemmonade!

theres a bunch, even outside of ARG-y things there's the repeated theme of sentient beings in games, satan-y stuff going on, there's a specific eyeball symbol that appears in Inscryption and The Hex that appeared a couple times in Pony Island, and the Obol made in Act 2 looks the same as the one in Pony Island (the one used to unlock the Crusader avatar). theres definitely so many more, but even just going off of pure gameplay theres some big ones
