I really appreciate how Polyphia made themselves guests on their own album. This is a compilation of artists with accompaniment by Polyphia which is absolutely incredible. The fact that this band doesn't just rigidly play their own style but TRULY collaborate with other artists to create these unique works of art.

@greenprotag
Жыл бұрын
@@Haxprocess96 Polyphia in the past has made a habit of sort of transcending genre. However, the vast majority of their style has been loosely categorized as Math Rock and Metal. They have done an EXCELLENT job of absorbing and trying different styles of play including traditional Spanish style acoustic, Pop Rock, Classic Rock style solo & ballads, & generally following traditional chord structures when attempting to bring familiarity & "catchy" vibes to their VERY complex style. In this piece, they are ignoring a traditional song form and grabbing a single typical song "A" form and repeating it like a Vamp. This presents an opportunity for all of the artist to perform soloistically within a simple form, taking once, twice, or 3 times through the "A" pattern to lay down a sweet solo. Each artists expression is a reflection of the genre they are "speaking" in with their solos. Although the piece is more Jazz/soul influenced, a closer look at the DNA of the pieces reveals rhythms and moving lines found commonly in both Jazz AND metal. ALL of this being said, I would not want to lock anyone down to a genre especially when part of the point is to travel freely in the musical world and take influence from everyone. But we can't ignore where we have come from in the hopes that ignorance of what came before will make us seem original now. Polyphia has plenty of skill on display and has no need to hide influence, in fact, putting influence on display as a vehicle to "spice" the song is sort of the point, especially with these artist collaborations.
