"If you feel music the way I do". I feel music EXACTLY like you do!! Watching this reaction was absolute joy for me. It was uncanny hearing someone explain my own emotions and feelings through their own experience, but just....wow. You react in the same way I do at the exact same spots. This piece is an absolute masterpiece, and I'm more and more amazed every time I hear it. Instant Classic is spot on.

never heard this one. Damn it was epic. Steve Kai is one of the greatest ever. def in my top 5 guitar gods. My personal favorite is Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society, and guitarist for Ozzy). Thanks for reacting to this one - enjoyed it thoroughly. So this is a subgenre of rock closest resemblance of "Progressive Rock" (prog-rock for short). If Metallica is the king of Metal, then the band Rush would be the king of prog-rock. It's a jazz influenced rock mesh. Notice how (like traditional jazz), each member stands for recognition for 15 seconds of solo play. Very stylistic of a free-form solo jazz-style that you see/hear in ensembles. One of the biggest differences between "rock" and "prog-rock" is the stylistic changes throughout a song - unique time signatures, changes in time-signatures, and change-up in tempo, etc. A whole 6 minute song in prog-rock would sound like 4 or 5 different songs by its end.

I been watching Vai since 1987. I'm such a big Vai fan I even like his protégé's. You didn't Mention Steve Vai helped Ibanez guitar company create the 7 string electric guitar, or that they been making one of a kind custom guitars for him ever since including the "Hydra". If you have not seen "Teeth of the Hydra" yet react to that please... PLEASE? Its a one of a kind guitar and a song written specifically to show off what you can do with that guitar. The guitar even looks like a monster you should do the vid "Teeth of the Hydra" on Halloween!

For The Love Of God is probably Vai's most emotional piece if you are interested in hearing more from him. Never have I heard more emotion displayed through guitar work. Steve Vai is also responsible for discovering and spotlighting Devin Townsend who is one of the most diverse and dynamic metal musicians of all time.

I knew this video was going to be loaded with "stank face" because mine still makes the same face every time I hear it. Two of those drum accents just leave my jaw hanging open and I'm not a drummer. The guitars are an absolute feast for the ears with three of the greatest players ever to touch rosewood/ebony and then you have Clay on the bass tastefully slamming it down and keeping everything rooted at the same time. This is a magnum opus as far as I am concerned and all who took part in it should be very proud of their work.

I’ve been shuffling through reactions for some days now to help digest this song, and yours is great, only other person to like the drums so much. I love how much work he puts in on the cymbals and how much he rests to let the music speak. Thanks! It’s fun to watch how the guitar players almost reference his chops with some of the percussion they use in their playing, like thanks for constantly setting us up! He’s such a good fit to this style. All four musicians add to the percussive depth of the music, even Vai does in his own way at the end. So much to say about this song but not many people I know will get it or want to hence the ramble. Thanks again!

I've known of Polyphia since they were in high school. My ex-girlfriend also had class with them. They can play with anyone in the world. That solo was written for Steve, don't let it overshadow the talent of the band, because they can play at the same skill level. I remember when they were just kids and they were known for their dedication to practicing alone in a room for so many hours and sessions. They are masters who have put in the thousands of hours of work.

I'm glad you mentioned his guitar, because that guitar that he's using in this video and a few other videos just got a signature deal, it's his second signature guitar. The old style of guitar you were talking about that he was playing in the metal part is just a form of heavy metal sweep picking. And you're 100% right you barely ever see it anymore, because most bands for some strange reason got rid of that mid song lead playing, which is a shame because a good deal of the time it was the best part of the songs.
