I think it's funny that people get drawn to Vai "on the throne", when Tim and Scott both sat on it during their parts too :)

@@hitmixhyepock9405 so? The entire point of the throne is it signifies the guitarist who is leading that section. Tim first. That section definitely has his sound. Then Scott and the metal-ish vibes arrive. Then lastly Steve and there's a bluesy tone that enters and Steve does his Magic. It's the exact same progression from the intro and the trumpet outro in each section but with the Lead giving their interpretation. It's both beautifully simple and amazing intricate at the same time. A masterpiece of writing.

If I recall correctly, Tim does a lot of his initial songwriting on computer in Ableton as an electronic producer would, before essentially transcribing it to guitar. I remember an interview from a couple of years back where he basically said that he makes hip hop beats and then figures out how to play them on guitar. It’s a wildly different approach to the instrument-and specifically to songwriting on the instrument- from what 99% of guitar players with a blues/rock/jazz foundation develop doing.

@@YesYouCANPlayGuitar I think the story was that SV was not looking for a co-writer, while DT had creativity coming out of his ears and was quite young, so that did not work out. That said, evidently, no bridges were burned, since they've gotten together since, e.g. look up Devin Townsend and Steve Vai Starmus 2017 on YT (kzread.info/dash/bejne/i4dkp7trYM7aeJs.html) UPD: Totally forgot, Vai did a solo on Singularity from DT's Empath album in 2019.

I feel so bad for Scottie hes legit one of the best guitarists in the world right now but Tim Henson's ability casts a shadow over Scottie at times. Both absolutely key components to why polyphia is as good as they are.

  • @amirchollet2975

Such a stupid comment lol. Both are amazing guitarists in their own right, Tim just gets way more exposure as he regularly uploads on his channel and seems to be the brains behind the marketing aspects of their band. They're both at roughly the same level of skill. Just look at Scottie's parts in the new album or even older stuff like his riff in GOAT which is arguably the most difficult part of the song.

Why can't you afford KZread Premium? Then you won't have ad's messing up your video's and getting free exposure on YOUR channel. I'm sorry, but that little distraction is a big turn off for a lot of viewers, the cost is easily worth the additional subs! Please do the math, it sucks, but that's business. I am one who would choose not to subscribe, just assuming your an amature. Clearly that's not the case. So I'm making an exception, please consider getting premium to gain a larger sub base.🙂
