Thanks Katie for sharing how you save your scraps. What you do makes a lot of sense. I have a good few balls of ugly colours because I just mixed the scraps all together and probably will never use them. I will be using your method in future. Genius idea for less waste. :-)

I think you got it right. I would never not sand before resin. Resin is almost like a magnifying lens (it literally refracts and zooms in on the piece), so any unevenness will be more apparent to be honest.

This reminds me of a few of my petrified wood cabochons. I think I'll try to replicate them using this technique, especially since I've acquired quite the collection of brown from my first attempts of using polymer. Thankfully, you are a fantastic teacher and I'm a quick learner, or everything I make would be in brown tones.

Hey Katie, love your videos. I love listening to your voice and the length of your videos. You have such a soothing voice. The storm was named Isaias. They had to pick the hardest Spanish name they could! I have a request. Could you do a pendant with a letter? Maybe cut the letter out and put it on another piece, or use mica or glitter or something else? I know initial pendants are always popular. I am in the midst of seeing clothes for an American Girl doll but as soon as I'm done I will get back to my clay. It really helps being able to watch you experiment and play! Love what you do. ~Tru

Does mixing 2 different brands effect the baking temp and time? Or the strength of the finished product? Love this pendant very pretty

If u can stick w the same brands that is ideal I use all about the same quality Clay's so I never have an issue but have done enough pieces to know this I bake them all at 275 for 60 min or longer and I always usually resin for strength but know I dont make things specifically to sell so that may affect how and what u use what i feel is adequate for my personal use i wouldn't feel right about selling like I'm ok w a plain back but if I was selling I may make a backing to look more finished

Maybe I didnt mention in this one but I have and showed before I personally do not like the fridge method because every time I do it I get condensation and that moisture makes it so slimy on the outside

@@katiegordon610 I havent had ANY problems with that and Ive done it a couple different ways ... I always put them in plastic containers, that have a lil snap lock, I dont think they're completely airtight, like a rubbermaid, then with some, I had used clay softener on, so I just laid them directly on paper, (Inside the box) they leached and were perfect. Then others, same container but I laid them on foil with paper towel underneath, must've absorbed any moisture, I also put them in the door shelves, don't know if that matters... it really works wonderfully! If they start to soften up again from high temp or working, repeat process. I was able to slice 2 &1/2" x 3" ornate shaped butterfly wings this way, never would have been able to do without!!! I bet even a small cardboard box with foil or glossy parchment would work....

Yup I think ots from the glitter, or plastic shards of reflective material I've used it once but it's like a pink and orange tone not my favorite maybe if they had different opal tones like a bluish green glittery stuff and purple blue glitter stuff it would give it more uses like how many things can I make w pink orange glitter and translucent I dunno u just got my whole opinion on opal clay lol
