Law enforcement have an impossible task. They need to issue more tickets then, maybe boaters will get the message.

Imagine falling off a wave runner in that water in the summer with all those boats and currents. . . You wouldn't last long. Boaters wouldn't even see a head bobbing in the water

I don't get it. The rules are there for the boaters own protection but yet they feel so important & self absorbed. These boaters received verbal warnings & not heavy tickets. If a ticket was written the captain/ owner would be held responsible for any & all Violations. Thank you for another great video guys, TMP from N.J. ( HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL ) !!!!

I thought this was the land of the free, but there seems to be more rules than elsewhere in the world.

@@krpkrp3033 There are rules against putting another person's life in danger because of your actions. If you don't think that's a necessary rule, you've got some kind of mental defect.

@@krpkrp3033 Thank you for your response sir. Well it goes like this 1) The rules are for everyone's safety especially after a few adult beverages. 2) I have personally witnessed 4 separate vessels sink & get swamped in that Cannal with injuries & yes with young children on board with no PFD'S. 3) The currents in that Canal are the worst even with a qualified captain & a vessel that can handle it. 4 ) In all of the vessels getting swamped it turned into everyone assisting those & trying to get them out of the dangerous waters + the State Police. 5) If your vessel loses power you are at the mercy of the Cannal & it isn't pretty. 6) If you disagree that's fine but if you were in trouble, in those currents, & If I was there I would assist you no matter what. Then I would Call you an ASS OLE to your face. On the other hand with your attitude I might just drive by & wave ( WELCOME TO NEW JERSEY ) !!!! TMP from N.J.

@@maccoretti Yes sir, but the state police gave many verbal warnings as a courtesy & there are still complaints !!! Sometimes sir you can't fix STUPID & I've seen it many times in that Canal !!!! After a few adult beverages some of these guys think they are untouchable. Happy Thanksgiving all, TMP from N.J.

Put a USCG boat at each end and start handing out $5,000 unsafe operation citations and people will start following the damned rules!

People aren’t supposed to ride the bow, but there’s a greater chance of them falling off in the water as they try to get back in the boat then if they just stayed on the bow. It’s apparent in other videos as well

I don't know about that, if they're just entering the canal and they stay on that bow the entire time there might be a greater chance of them getting thrown off and then going under the prop. I think they also have to consider that if they don't say anything and allow them to stay on the bow, they will just assume it's alright and continue to do so thereby increasing the chances in the future that an accident will happen.

Not that I want a bigger government but it is too easy for someone to captain their own boat and put themselves and others at risk. No one wants licensing but there has to be a way captains can watch a film of all the dead and mangled people that fall from the bow and seconds later meet the prop.

A No Wake Zone is a crock of s - - t. It is a meaningless, unenforceabie term. It takes LESS THAN 2 knots, *close to an idle* , not to make any bow wave or stern wash. "No Wash" is technically no more than a ripple from the 2 corners of the transom. Try it sometime. In Australia we have some 4 knot, 5 knot, 8 knot zones, all of which make FAR MORE than "no wash". Here also, No Wash is a joke which noone takes seriously. And no Maritime Officer can ever objectively, legitimately ticket any skipper for speeding unless it is a recorded radar readout, just like on the highway. Their verbal assessment from mere observation on the water would never stand up in court. A No Wash Zone is a totally bogus concept and water police know it. Thus it gets ignored. The ONLY WAY to cut this washing machine pictured above is to ENFORCE a *2 knot zone* with 24/7 speed cameras, just like on the roads PLUS constant marine patrols on weekends. Anything else is a sham. End of story.
