Great video of the person that shot the part where you changed lanes , and it clearly shows that it was NOT a solid white line.If you would fight it in court and show that to the judge, you would have gotten it dismissed, maybe not worth your time , but you would have proven to that lying cop that he was wrong the whole time. Great job! Comply, stay calm, don’t argue, keep your cam running everytime you drive. Cause you never what kind of officer or mood you may have to interact with. Just take your cam video to court, prove your case.

Just imagine for a moment how many people have been wrongly charged, convicted and fined to hell and back all based on the testimony of a cop and zero evidence! Imagine the lives that have been ruined by these cops. I am a notorious dash cam user, have been for many years. Some 12 years ago I drove through a yellow light in the US State of Minnesota and Minnesota is a passive yellow light state meaning, if you cross the stop line while yellow, you are legal. Small town cop pulls me over and gives me a citation for running a red light, I told him he was flat out wrong, all he said good luck in court over his word. So to court I went wish a dash cam video as proof, the city attorney offered to drop the charge for a simple fine, I did not inform them I had video proof at that time and I said hell no. He told me if I get convicted that the fine would be bigger to which I responded, we'll see about that. When it was my turn and wanted to show the video, the city attorney tried to get my video ruled as inadmissible, to which I responded to the Judge....are we not interested in the truth? At that point, the attorney simply dismissed the citation and the Judge said you are free to go and I remarked, imagine how many people have stood here and been wrongly convicted based on their testimony! Moral of the story is, get a dash cam and cover your ass, cops are not there to help you.

This is has happened to me except it was somewhere in upstate NY. but I didn't have a dashcam at the time however I had a customer of mine who was the witness, so I mentioned that during my court day and pretty much dropped the violation to a $25 seatbelt violation and no points on my driving record. which I ended up paying and didn't arguing with the prosecutor . But 100% you make valid point for all the cases that wrongfully written off.

@@eltoro9446 WRONG. If this was a TRIAL, the defense must provide anything they plan to present at trial to the prosecutor's office, BEFORE the trial. The officer may not see that video before the trial but he will have been told about it by the prosecuting attorney. If this was just a PRE trial hearing, then yes, they could spring it on him.

@@Hooverdarnit no it was correct. You said the LEO would’ve seen the video and that’s not true because LEO’s don’t take the time to review defense exhibits unless it’s a major crimes case. Traffic trial ain’t that. LEO’s always get a summary by the ADA. BUT then you backtracked by stating “even if the officer didn’t see it he would have been told by the prosecutor.” So we Gucci.

Its not law to have to state your name and address in BC they are just checking if your lying or not. You can however ask them for their name and badge number and they absolutely have to provide you with it otherwise the stop becomes illegal on their part..trust me. Awesome video man

I have seen a perjure from a police officer in court. The judge had stopped immediately everything and had given a judgement quickly without any accusation. I made an illegal U turn in FL. Looked up the statute, it read "AND" three times between conditions, thus meaning all 3 conditions had to be violated to inncur penalty. As I read the statute to the judge she grinned and told me have a nice day, case dismissed. The arresting officer had conveniently parked next to me. My chuckle and his stare down at the parking lot was priceless. Always read up on your rights.

On the surface, making the cops pay the fine if they are 'wrong' or there is evidence proving the citizen is innocent, but you're right, suddenly, all cops would be perfect in the eyes of most judges. I wonder if this might pertain to lawsuit situations where people say "If you bring a frivolous lawsuit and don't win, you should have to pay legal fees for the defendant"? I have personally been in a situation where the defendant (it was a corporation) destroyed evidence supporting the claim being made (I was serving as a witness for the injured party) I know first hand that miscarriages of justice DO occur, and if the injured party had to pay the legal fees of the corporation, he'd have been in debt the rest of his life. Sad, but true.

Kiko Mac That is actually good idea. By writing a citation / Penalty notice, means that a debt has been created by way of commercial instrument. When the accused party proves his innocence and that instrument of debt is dismissed proves that All instruments that claim a debt are in fact false claims and or forgeries. When a Debt is is claimed and certified by way of a debt instrument, it has to be either paid or discharged. (FROM A TRUST ACCOUNT) When the party proves the Claim was issued under a false premise, the issuing officer needs to settle the claim by paying for it himself. Yep, that's what they do. I own a 'supercar' and they love to make up any old excuse to take a look at it. I was pulled over for ' speeding' when I knew very well I was not. When he found out the car was actually mine, and free and clear of any loans or liens, and that I had two others. He became much more respectable in his behavior, however he said "I am sorry sir but I cannot un-write the ticket." I was in a foreign Province and and 600km from from home and 150km from my destination. I should have made a court date and fought the ticket. I KNOW I was not speeding because I had just pulled off the highway, was in a subdivision, and going slowly to pull over and consult my navigation system. They just don't care...and it seems they figure an out-of-province are an easy target because you are unlikely to stay one or two months to attend a court. THEY are the criminals. They are no different from the 'highwaymen' who used to hold up coaches and rob the passengers...only this gang are government licensed, protected and sponsored.

Okay, you handled that well. Kudos for being respectful. You will win your day in court. It is more important to get it thrown out than pay, because if you pay, you get points on your license. My response to everyone on here is that even officers make mistakes. It would be better if they acknowledged them though.

the first reason was because the plate is Alberta and that is a Rcmp in BC.. so easy target for fine payment. also the Rcmp said no driver registered to plate..so couldn't run reg owner for warrants. insurance validation. suspended license.. etc. corp registration and insurance doesn't list drivers

Love, love, love a winner! That officer looked jealous. That sums him up. It sounds like the ticket is equal to running a red light. I’d fight it.

I used to drive a black vintage 1952 Jaguar Mark 4, which resembles a Rolls Royce. Cops never dared to pull me over.

Cop should be fired and all his previous citations, arrests, and anything he ever touched in law enforcement null and void. If he’s going to lie about something so small like that for a $109 citation. Imagine what else he will lie about.

the problem is that that cop will just get a job in a different township, I would love to see a registry for all cops that includes data like number of tickets given, number of tickets disputed and lost, you know other useful data that follows the cop.

That's how all cops should be handled. It's a powerful job that can destroy peoples' lives. Any other job where you have lives in your hands, the consequences of lying or falsifying info is huge. Imagine a doctor does this, he has his whole career stripped from him. For some reason cops are treated as above everyone else and that's why we have the issues we have.
