I was recently doing legit retail audits for different companies, and the security were all on to me until they confirmed I was sent from head office, meanwhile scruffy shoplifters walk out with luxury boxes of chocolate and steak. there was no reason not to stand up for yourself in this situation because there was no risk as she'd already done her worst cos pscos can do naff all else but publicly humiliate you... though it's best practice to just ignore and walk away from police and any police bum---lick like a pcso... and your level of response should be balanced with the amount of leverage you have over any goon in any given scenario, depending on risk vs reward ... example of a situation where you may want to hold back:: say if you're being charged with a serious crime that you could end up jailed for 5+ years over, and you had nobody standing up for you and little to defend yourself with, then it's best to stay quiet and fight on the backfoot to exhaust the process ...

I think it's more about the staff being able to see what you're intending to buy. I know AB isn't a shoplifter, but most shoplifters will look to conceal items (eg in their pockets or bags they're already carrying). They don't pick up baskets to put the items they're gonna steal in.

His reasoning, "assume every police interaction is filmed". Then you apply for the recording and they come back saying it was not recorded having deleted the footage. They are a gang of spivs.

Their policy clearly states they need to inform people they’re being recorded, yet as we all know from these videos the police routinely ignore their policy and then arrogantly attempt to copsplain when they’re pulled up on it. In most other jobs employees that don’t follow policies would be disciplined. It’s ironic that police spend their lives enforcing laws but don’t like following the rules themselves.

Next she'll make sure everyone's wiped their ass properly in the toilets, wow so rude getting into peoples personal space and giving orders they have no right giving.

If the officer wasn't directly interacting with AB in Banbury police station (there is a video about a year ago at the counter) then that means that he obtained this personal information via data collected and stored by another officer under the conditions of GDPR. If he is sharing that information in public, outside of the protected data environment of the police station, then that is a direct breach of GDPR Data Protection laws and the officer should be reprimanded for this and the station prosecuted for breaking the law.

Secondly, even if he was "pissing about", there should be no reaction if he is not breaking the law!... that is the point! The fact that the police react to things that they have no legal reason to be involved in is the whole point of what he does. From my perspective, it is those who don't see that are the deluded ones. The police should uphold the law and no more.

Easy way to find out is enquire who runs the CCTV room, and submit a subject access request for such a report concerning yourself.

She walked off really fast when she realised he was recording, and she was in the wrong for telling you to do something in a private company that she is not supposed to be helping out because she is a public servant, not a private servant who works for Big companie

The shop manager was the only one showing any empathy, she knew when weasel face said you looked “dodgy”she had to step in and diffuse a potential lawsuit against boots. Can’t get hold of a copper when a crime has been committed, yet they have plenty of time to work for corporate retailers!

So the PCSOs are helpful to others but refuse to be helpful to AB because he is the one ordering them around rather than kowtowing to their authoritah.

Assuming a person to be "dodgy" is straight-up discrimination. If the police were stereo-typing you as a potential shoplifter, they don't know their statistics. In Boots, it's more likely to be a female who would shoplift. Those shop police are looking out for the wrong people and need to witness a theft, not judge or suspect a potential shoplifting type of person.

i beleive you will find that they can patrol any public place, a shop during opening hours is such a place. However bearing in mind that they are not warrant holding officers and in most cases do not possess the authority to detain anyone the money that is spent would be far better invested in regular officers with full police powers

The law states it has to be shown on request, not that some officer can send the information afterwards.

Section 42 of the Police Reform Act 2002 requires PCSOs to produce a designation card upon request when exercising any of their powers. How can she comply when she’s not even aware what a designation card is? This is such a common problem, as shown by all the videos online of PCSOs with no idea what a designation card is, and they often incorrectly claim their staff ID is a designation card (or even worse claim it’s a warrant card, even though they’re not constables so don’t have warrant cards). This demonstrates that police forces are failing to comply with Section 38 of the Police Reform Act 2002, which states that “A chief officer of police shall not designate a person under this section unless he is satisfied that that person- (a) is a suitable person to carry out the functions for the purposes of which he is designated; (b) is capable of effectively carrying out those functions; and (c) has received adequate training in the carrying out of those functions and in the exercise and performance of the powers and duties to be conferred on him by virtue of the designation.”
